    Good morning EveryOne :w00t:

63° and cloudy with a high of 68° predicted. A perfectly wonderful day, nice and comfortable.

Earlier we created a new recipe and then got it mixed. I very deliberately took a back seat to see how and where she would take it. We agreed it tastes good and is smooth off the mix. Our vape tastes are pretty much the same.

My girl is getting real good with DIY ( #veryprouddad ).

Not sure what the rest of the day holds in store, it's up to her and whatever she wants to do. But, I have some ideas in mind, if asked.

I've never had rhubarb before. It doesn't look like something associated with desserts. It looks more like something you'd put in a salad.

It takes a lot of cooking to soften it up. And a lot of sugar to take away the bitterness. Great if it's done right. It was mostly used in pie, crumble, and trifle.

I don't imagine it can grow in Texas. It's very much a cold-weather crop.

A rhubarb crumble with custard is a thing of beauty. Never cared for strawberry-rhubarb pie, though. But that's because I don't like cooked strawberries; the rhubarb part is fine by me.

Rhubarb crumble with custard, oh the memories. I used to love custard as a kid but not any more. I have some rhubarb growing in my garden, it's supposed to be a variety that can survive that can survive in Indiana. Not as hot as Texas but still pretty hot. It does grow here but it struggles and I had to put it in a partly shady spot.

The other cold weather fruit I had a lot of growing up is gooseberry. I tried growing that here as well but it didn't do very well. The fruits were tiny with thick tough skins. The only way I found of eating them was to cook them for a long time then mash them up and press them through a sieve to remove the fibrous stuff.

That reminds me that my dad used to like rhubarb pie. He liked some really different foods that I would never try. It’s funny though that I like rhubarb vapes.

Do you have any good recipes? It always turned out very bitter for me. Mind you that was a long time ago when I was just starting to mix.

I think Fran has a recipe. I was buying a rhubarb custard recipe from Chefs but haven’t used it in a while.

    Happy birthday, @hittman!
Thanks everyone. I hope I didn’t miss anyone in the quotes. No big bday plans. It’s really nice out today so I’m going to get some yard work done. I got one of seven reviews written this morning but my laptop ran out of battery so I’ll have to post it later.
