Got around to mixing some blackcurrant samples. Did the FA at 3%, SSA and WF at 1% because people said they were strong. Made 10ml SFTs, then dipped into those to make mixes of each combination of 2 blackcurrants. Now I have six 5ml samples ready to try as soon as I get some KFL’s set up. So far I can barely detect any aroma from the bottles.
Maybe I’ll get lucky and the %’s I used will work. If not then it’s more samples with higher %’s. Don’t even want to think about wrinkles like mixing 2 parts of one blackcurrant with 1 part of another. Then more samples with different meringues added. Then add stuff like cream and see how it goes. It’s a long laborious process.
The folks who do a lot of experimental mixing seem to have the ability to try a mix and figure out in their heads that what it needs is a touch more vanilla or whatever. I don’t seem to be able to do that.
Anyway, doing that reminded me why I disliked using syringes back when I used them. No choice though with the tiny quantities I needed. And the rubber plunger tips on my 1ml syringes were all rotted away. They broke apart when I tried to push them into the syringe or broke when I tried to pull them out leaving bits I couldn’t get to. Managed to make it work by dripping the flavoring into the top of a syringe and blowing it out into the bottle.
