Lots of excitement after I logged off ECF this morning. Went into the living room and there was a garbage truck on fire. We called the fire department and while waiting the truck went boom and bigger flames followed by bellowing black smoke. Stood in the picture window then all of a sudden watched the truck moving toward our house — do you know how scary this is, OMG. It sideswiped the parked car and at the corner it hit the curb and veered slightly to the right and went up our next door neighbor’s yard with another boom. If it hadn’t hit the curb it would have gone straight for us. There are two hills and we live on the first hill. At the bottom of the second hill you can turn right or left and if you continue straight you end up in our driveway. In the morning they pick up the greens and then late in the afternoon the rest of the garbage.
They are still here cleaning up and it smells so toxic outside. They had to change the tires on the garbage truck and there is a heavy duty tow truck waiting. I was shaking so badly and my stomach too so didn’t get any shots of the truck while it was on fire and smoking. The truck driver bailed immediately. No one way hurt and we had concerns for our next door neighbor being elderly with his wife having breathing issues due to a number of diseases. The major TV channels came and it has already been on the news. Too much excitement that I could do without.
