She said this strange creature she saw only came out once it got dark. She said the only reason why she noticed it was because of it's glowing eyes and the strange sound that it made, almost like a mating call of some sort she said...

Luckily, besides my night vision glasses and camera I had brought a tape recorder.
As she continued, I reveled in the delicious glory that was the baked trout, but all the while I couldn't shake the notion, "I prefer snapper." As Sarah told me her story she digressed and mentioned a little about her life and where she was from. She mentioned she had been born in Branson and lived there most of her life before moving here to be closer to nature for the purposes of inspiration, her own "little Waldon Pond," she put it. She also mentioned she had a sister who lived back in Branson still.

She said she came from a large family and her parents named all of the girls with names starting with the letter S and all the boys names starting with the letter R. That really got me thinking and thought no it couldn't be and I asked her what her sister's name was.
I tried to look interested with her small talk but what I really wanted to do is get a move on and see that rare creature.
And off we went going down mountain trails and dodging big boulders that cropped up in our way
We bounced around down the old fire road riding along the ridge just above Table Rock Lake. My mind steered back toward Sarah's family and the potential for a coincidence, "I wonder," I thought. The sun was just beginning to set over the ridge as we rounded the bend and made our way down toward the lake.
As we neared the lake we started hearing the strangest clattering noises. I decided to put my thoughts of coincidences out of my mind until we returned back to her cabin. Right now I figured I was getting ready for the feast of my eyes and my mind was once again back on my real purpose for being here...
...as I quickly set up the recording equipment and a few night-vision motion sensor cameras and camcorders. "Set on up down by the large maple down on the shore," Sarah instructed, "that's where I saw it the first time." The sun had fully gone down now and the moon was nowhere to be seen on this night. A chill ran up my spine, no doubt for more than one reason, there was a nip in the air.
All of a sudden everything went quiet except for the rustling noises coming through the bush and trees...
...the wind began to howl and we noticed it was pitch black outside. I flinched as Sarah latched on to my arm, "We get some unique weather up here but this is unusual," she said nervously. Faintly, as if almost non-existent, there fluttered on the air a strange sound; so foreign in fact that my ears picked it up although it was so subtle. Sarah squeezed tighter as the sound swelled, she could hear it too.
It sounded like someone was beating on a drum. But that couldn't be, we were secluded in the wilderness...
We then heard a thrashing howling noise. I didn't know if to stay or run but Sarah kept a firm grip on my arm preventing me from going anywhere...
...and as we stood there listening intently, yet another sound, ba ba ba bum, ba ba ba bum the sound came in rapid quadruplet, droning in our heads, from...our heads. As the internal sound came to a crescendo I realized it was the sound of my own heart beating rapidly from the adrenaline. Suddenly the once subtle and foreign sound clapped through my ear drums as loud and unmistakable as thunder. "The mating call!" Sarah yelled.
Instantly I turned my head to where the "mating call" was coming from hoping to see who or what was making this sound...
I heard the whirling of the recording equipment as just then the motion sensors were tripped, chick chick chick chick chick chick chick in rapid succession as the camera did its work. A few silent moments passed. "The wind is dying down," exclaimed Sarah. I noticed too that the moon had risen and shone brightly, illuminating the surface of the lake like a giant spotlight.
