Nick N----huge thanks for your pancake wick,, did it with rayon on my topbox rda (its a tiny monster!) so far this is working great! thanks again!
No problem, I currently use this method on my smok TFV4 (TF-RCA RBA) with great results. Rip Tripper was the first person I saw do it; I was frustrated with dry hits on my Subtank Mini and decided to try it.

I have a Smok TFV4 Mini on the way, I'll post a build when I get it.

At least now you know what your juice really tastes like.

at first i was a tad overwhelmed,,then i turned down my settings (battery savings hopefully)--and this is probably the best flavoring vape i have had in a long time! (i am using Nick N's rayon pancake form with thinning as i worked away from the coil,, no leaks so far :)

It was certainly turned up to 11. It brought out the tart citric flavor big time and it tasted so chemically sweet that I had to drop it. I can imagine trying this with less sweet flavors, or perhaps dessert/tobacco flavors and really enjoy it.

I'm loving Rayon in my dripper but the break in taste was much worse than cotton. Usually when I wick cotton in my dripper there's virtually no break in taste, but with Rayon it took a few ml to get some flavor in. It tastes pretty good now but I was wondering if this is normal?

Edit: sorry about double post
Lol. Same experience as yours but w/cotton. Rayon broke in a lot sooner than cotton.
If my tails were too thick than maybe I had break in issues w rayon

I must be wicking it incorrectly then

Or perhaps the rayon is dirty and needs to be rinsed. I haven't done so
donnt forget to wash your hands real good before wicking or whtever is on them will transfer and might have been the taste you were getting at 1st,just a thought

I have never noticed a break in period with rayon other than to give the rayon time to get fully saturated.
i nearly 'flooded' the 'deck area' of my tiny rta/rda and it has been nothing but awesome all day.........i am freaking HAPPY! :)

a day of vape and running around.. no stopping to 'mess with it or make repairs'. once the juice hits the little holes i refill. today i refilled every other cycle with 70/30 vg/pg w/2mg nic. ('neat' =no flavor,, not bad) cuz i dont want to be a gluttonous pig with flavors and over do it and get vapors fatigue from flavors.

today i even got to chain vape for a bit and the wick held up great,, used to be i had to wait after every 3rd drag for the cotton to rewick.

i really cant thank Nick N enough,, this is a big deal to me cuz of the 35years of smoking 2pads died upon my first vape! (yeah, 1st 3 days were kind of tough)

Having been away from ECF for 2.5 years, it is nice to sign in again! Had been a very occasional visitor during that time, but never logged in (just reading here and there). After reading the ENTIRE Rayon pt. 2 thread, have to share my experience.

Before I do, want to thank the OP, Jeremy for all of the hard work in putting this thread and the one before it together. Also want to express my appreciation to all who contributed. My initial thoughts of rayon were not good ones. This thread and some fiddling on my tank changed that!

My first build on the Griffin with Kanthal fused claptons (2x26 core/32 wrap) produced meh, don't see what the big deal is results. Flavor wasn't remarkably better and the coil gunked just as quickly as KGD cotton. This picture was before, should've taken one after, doh!

Since I had just upgraded my entire vape setup to a Vaporflask Stout and a Griffin RTA, I wanted to mess with TC using Ti and SS316L. My first experience with TC using nickel on a Vaporshark DNA 40 sucked. Once the new rolls of wire arrived, building and tinkering began. I claptoned 34 Kanthal around a 24 SS core. Was less than pleased, but not ready to give up yet. After asking myself how a single strand spaced coil could possibly outperform a big, fancy clapton, I put in a 10 wrap, spaced, 24 ga Ti coil.

All that can be said is OMFG, what have I been missing?! The break in was rough, but after 3 ml the flavor is unfreaking believable! Originally my goal was better longevity, with improved flavor a secondary goal. I vape coil gunkers and wanted a lower maintenance setup. Rayon has improved both aspects so much, I'm a convert! So happy to be rocking an awesome build on a sexy as hell setup...

Sorry for the long winded post, but I want to encourage any future readers keep plugging away at it. Don't give up! From coming up though the Green Smoke cig-alikes, breaking open cartomizers to refill with nasty-... juice, to Egos with CE4s and Vivi Novas, to the first VV mods and Kayfun Clones ect, to what I have now has kept me smoke free for 4 years. The perfect vape can be yours!

As a final note: Jeremy, don't give up on TC. Temp control (on a stable device) + a good build in a good atty + rayon wicking = vape nirvana. Having lost track of how many devices/setups used in my pursuit of the perfect vape, I promise you it can be had. Thanks again man, you led me on the final steps to mine!

Hey river.guy, Thanks for the great post, there no such thing as too long here. :)

Glad your enjoying it, it's amazing stuff. Now you know what all the fuss is about. I'm glad you have got to experience it. Many haven't..

My goal has been to give as many people as possible the opportunity to experience Rayon. I believed it was a real vape changer and it is.

Just a simple coil rocks the house. In pt. one you would have seen the great coil debates, spaced for the win... Yeah I laugh man, all the Clapton stuff they do to try to make cotton vape better.

Remember the learning curve is there, many subpar wicks will still work, but will gunk more than normal because they are not proper. As you get more experienced it only gets better then you hit that sweetspot and bam.

Are you saying break-in was long. Typically that would mean too tight. The amount of time it took to "break-in" should relate to how many strands too many you had in the coil. To ensure that you have enough wick I like to see a few breakin hits like 5-6. I usually blow them out the air holes. better varieties have a cleaner taste and thus less on initial use. I have no control over the Sally's consistency, its the cheapest rayon, so it's not as good as others, op post 5. But a rinse to Sally's will make it much better on break in taste, other forms of rayon receive more rinsing. If you do you Just have to try to keep it in strips so when it dries it still resembles itself.

On the TC, yeah it could work. But kanthal is excellent for me too. I've decided some of the issues I have with TC is the atomizer FEV. Not great for TC. It's a wired base and the wires are throwing it off. I rarely ever drip I don't have any need to. I'll be getting a couple new single coil atties soon that will TC well. Im a single coil guy. Duals, bah too much trouble. No benefit for me really, I seem to get plenty of vapor for my needs. 35- 45 w single spaced coil 28-26g is where I've been in the FEV for a long time.. High heat Flux and low capacity.

I'd like to pick your brain a bit good sir!

Firstly, I've been using close wrapped 3mm 24ga ss316l coils. Is there a difference between ss and ti in regards to flavor and vapor? Spaced vs close wrapped?
