i rough cut the wicks to reach the deck, then i 'fluff' it out a bit and cut a 45* angle from the deck up to near the coil, sometimes i have to make 2 cuts if i am using a larger dia' on the coil. i get the tails wet enough to tuck behind that ring,, then if i need too, (not always) i will trim a bit off the shoulder area of the coil. leaks go down more and more as you learn your technique. you can have a super thin tail.. as long as its long enough to sort of fold it up and back into the space behind the ring thing.Does any one know how to wick a Griffin with rayon? I just ordered 40'.
I understand that I need to thin down to around 20% but I feel like it would leak.
Maybe I should thin it down at the juice hole so it seals the hole and let the strands I have left run into the tank...?
With cotton I just get as much cotton as I can fit through the coil, cut it and just let the wick occupy the hole without shoving it into the hole.
Sure. I just wicked 2 Kayfun Lite Plusses tonight. Much more consistant than cotton IMO.Will rayon work in the Kayfun Mini V3?
Absolutely! Will rayon work in the Kayfun Mini V3?
I have thought about 'jb welding' the ring into place,, its a pita to put on after wicking and sometimes it develops klingy personality traits and comes off when you unscrew the housing.I do the same 45 degree cut with cotton. That way when your pushing it behind the ring, it's all the same length.
I've never had problems wicking it, I just thought rayon might be different.
I thought about removing the ring and thinning the tails where the ring was. That way I get the hole filled but I've still got it thinned out on the other side.
We'll see what happens on Wednesday.
Absolutely!
The real question is, what won't Rayon work in?![]()
I wouldn't glue it down. Just remove it or wick with it in place. I don't even see how you could put it on after it's been wicked because it would hit the coils.I have thought about 'jb welding' the ring into place,, its a pita to put on after wicking and sometimes it develops klingy personality traits and comes off when you unscrew the housing.
anyone have a better/safer product to glue that ring into place than jb weld?-tia
Probably, since Zippo wicks and wading materials are cotton. You might have to braid the Rayon a little for the wick and get the proper density.I dunno, would it work in my ole Zippo?
I love Zippos,, they really should make ejuice boxes for us,, they have perfume,, so it wouldn't be a big leap to make us cool ejuice holdersZippos do use rayon for the wadding.. Rayon is the correct material for an original Zippo wadding. The best lighter in the word has rayon in it. You can use cotton but of course it wouldn't be as good.
See - Zippo - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Construction section
"The hollow part of the interior box encloses five rayon balls which are in contact with the wick."
The wick I'm not sure, zippo doesn't call it cotton, it may be a silica type. I bet if you wanted you could use rayon twisted tight, wrapped with kanthal.. Might feed a little fast and be a big flame, but you can keep the wick shorter to compensate.
We know rayon does not burn easily when wet. And it doesn't burn when compacted.

cool thanks!Don't remember the name, but there is an e-juice that comes in a zippo style container.
