Yay!!! Can't wait! Thanks! As soon as they ship my SD card, I can start taking pictures in earnest. They've created a shipping label, but, for some reason, they haven't stuck it in the mail yet. I'm saving some stuff to build until it gets here.

Cool!Yep, and a lot of us used AA batteries. I should still have a mod somewhere that I made out of a 4-bay AA battery holder with a built-in on/off switch from Radio Shak... I just drilled a hole in the side and epoxied a 510 connector in it. Was pushing 6V to a carto for daaaaays... LOL. I'll have to see if I can find it and grab a pic...
I saw a TV ad for a phone that they give you a 256GB card. I remember having 1.2GB and 8.4GB hard drives because they were the limits of that Windows version. I have a Windows 98 for dummies book that says to get a 2GB drive but don't be afraid to ask for a 4GB drive because someday you will need the extra space.
rayon wicks for google
My first computer was issued to me at work for using CAD programs. An IBM Turbo-10 with a whopping 10mb hard drive and a 5-1/4" floppy drive. Man, I thought it couldn't get any better that.Heck, I have a terabyte in my desktop and that's about 300 times more storage than we had on the first network I was an admin for and that served 250 engineers!
Yep. I cant believe that altogether my phone will have 320GB of storage...A PHONE!My first computer was issued to me at work for using CAD programs. An IBM Turbo-10 with a whopping 10mb hard drive and a 5-1/4" floppy drive. Man, I thought it couldn't get any better that.
4.9 is pretty impressive. I've had my 4770K up to 4.6 stable on air, but I typically keep it around 4.2 for everyday use. I think I'm gonna build a new one with Kaby Lake X when it comes out...maybe.You remember overclocking from the base clock? That was fun.
And laptops with several color displays?
Now my CPU does 4.9ghz on air and I have 2 240gig ssds in RAID0. And it's over a year old. It's crap now...lol.
i5 4690k delidded with CLU. $30 cooler.4.9 is pretty impressive. I've had my 4770K up to 4.6 stable on air, but I typically keep it around 4.2 for everyday use. I think I'm gonna build a new one with Kaby Lake X when it comes out...maybe.
I don't know what they're saying either lol!Wow! When did all the Rayonatis start speaking Greek?![]()

You do mean geek right?
i5 4690k delidded with CLU. $30 cooler.
It will do 5 giggles and run prime95 blend all day long. The voltage and amperage required was unbelievable.
Stayed under 95c on the hottest core running small fft.
I run it at 4.5 though.
I have a 980ftw that does 1490 on stock voltage with a custom bios. Also has CLU. Never gets above 70c.
Any quad DC or later chip will do 5ghz on air. You just need to fiddle with the amperage and voltage to the chip and socket. And delid.
It will be a few generations till I rebuild. I expect 2 years or more out of this thing.
I'm glad you guys are nerds in other aspects of life too. We must be drawn to tedious things. =]
I just noticed you said 4770 not 4790...good job. Those things are hard to push with the stock TIM.
Been there done that.Well, geek, greek, eeek, all I can say is....
VIC20 and cassette tape
Lol. I'll get into VR tech when I have 10x the gpu and CPU power and it's more refined. The holo lense looks cool though.Yeah. Haswells were kind of hit or miss. I got a mediocre one. I delidded it and it will run Intel BurnTest all day long and stay under 90 with a NH-D14. I probably could have pushed it harder if I fiddled with it a little more, but I didn't want to chance it. I need it to last me through most of 2018. 4.2 is more than good enough for what I do with it.
The stars are aligning. Just as I was typing this, I got a Fedex update notification. My micro SD card should be here Saturday. My Gear VR and controller should be here by then as well. I might not get around to building coils, wicking or taking pictures for a few days after that. I'll be exploring.
Well, the Gear VR isn't much more than a fancy Google Cardboard, but the Galaxy Note 7 has AMOLED HDR capability, so it ought to be pretty cool for an early generation VR experience at a reasonable price.Lol. All I want is an OLED panel that can take a 120Hz input...none of that repeating frame crap they get away with now. 120/240hz tvs? They don't exist. sigh.
I can't wait for the future.
