Thanks @TrollDragon & @vapdivrr and all you guys.
I'll put in some practice time, see if I can make it a little more pretty and work a bit better.
I'm doubting about the bone-dry, probably due to how it's so fragmented and bendy, but I'll see.
Need to improve capillary action a bit and thin things out and get the part that's in the coil thicker (without pulling it apart).

I doubt I go through a half a dozen balls per year myself. So 2000 would last me 300+ years.

Like I said, I still have roughly half the 1000 count bag I got five years ago left, and I've given away quite a few quart-sized ziplock bags of samples. :)

I am proud to have been a recipient of your generosity and have generally stayed with rayon since, but for a couple of brief and rather torrid flings with Ready-X-Wick.

Have you also tried Grahams? Was just curious if you noticed a difference?
Yes, I started with Grahams, and immediately concluded that rayon was superior to cotton, but I wasn't thrilled with the "break-in" taste. A few weeks later, I ordered some Tidi balls. The supplier wasn't fast and it took the better part of four weeks to get them, but once I did and started using them, I never looked back and dropped off my box of Grahams at a B&M for people to try.

I have to admit, I've never tried the Ready-X stuff. I suppose the advantage of Ready-X is that it can be dry-burned, but given the incremental accumulation of stuff on a coil after each dry-burn, I imagine "ash" would accumulate in the Ready-X as well, and it would need to be replaced at some point anyway?

FWIW, I generally get 2-4 weeks out of a wick/coil in my ADV mod, occasionally more (but when the moon and the stars align just right). At that point, it's usually more an issue with residue on the coil than a problem with the rayon wick. So pull the wick, dry-burn the coil, and pop in a fresh wick. Takes 5 minutes.

I really wanted to like that ceramic but I was never pleased with it, hence, a return to rayon.

After silica wicks, I really thought the ready wicks were the next big thing, but cotton was the one that dominated because of the change from wrapping a coil around a wick to a micro coil , which changed everything. Rayon then came and never looked back.

I received my Tidi rayon balls a little over a week ago. Thanks for the info Rossum. I like them and break-in taste versus Grahams from Sally's is like zero. Clean. I gave my Grahams to my brother along with a bag of the Tidi. This bag is the size a thick bed pillow and will last me forever.

Yep -- that's exactly why I gave away most of my big box of Grahams when I got my Tidi balls!

I've been using them ever since, and that's just about five years now.

Im I'm still going through 40 feet, at a rate of about 30" a month... I'll pick up the tidi balls when I get close to the end... In a year or so...

I'm puzzled how it's possible to go through 30" a month. Are you using some seriously coil-gunking juice? If I was still using Graham's, I doubt I'd go through 30" in a year.

A 2" section to make a wick, which lasts about two days. I just rewicked, so I'll post picks of it in a couple. It was so small, what was left in the coil, the shoulders were twice the size. Like a shrinky-dink.

Two days, eh? I'm disappointed if I don't get two weeks, with a month being more usual, and when the planets align just right a couple of months.

Now I'll grant you I'm a tootle-puffer (0.75 ohms on a mech sqonker) and I use very little flavoring, but I still have a hard time imagining getting only two days.

All single flavor tests bottles, no more than 3-4% flavor, no added sweeteners, 0.36ohm geekvape SS316L juggernaut wire, at 65w, TCR 108, makes a nice, barely orange glow at 600°F, I run it between 420-480. I go through 30mL a day though.
