I just tried rayon in my serp mini as well.
I'm using 24ga kanthal 6 wraps and wicked with rayon. 35 watts and the flavor is great!
I'm coming from generally vaping around 70 watts with rdas and sqounkers. I am really impressed with what the serp mini can do with a little single coil and rayon!

Ok.. so I tried rayon with my Aquas and KFLs.
Aquas are working superbly. No issues.
However, my KFLs slowly flood and leak out of air intake hole. Then, I didn't even trim out the tails and see if that would stop the leaking. It did... but gave me dry hits.
Never had a problem with using kayfuns with KGD... they were really forgiving. But I'm having so much trouble with rayon.
My trimming method was..
1. After inserting rayon, cut each side to just the amount of right length so that if I pull them down, it would just touch the base above the juice channel.
2. Do a diagonal cut on each side so that it would look like something like this -> /coil\. Cut as closest to coil as possible.
The vape is great... I just can't seem to get right wicking for my Kayfuns. It's a bummer because they are the atties that I take to work.

i fold my rayon down past my juice channels on my griffin,,(ring installed first-this detail is only for griffin tanks ignore if you dont have it) ,, then i comb out the rayon,, rayon is not a fan of being twisted too much,, remember a droplet has to travel upstream. after i straighten the fibers a bit, i end up cutting off very little rayon,, but i do cut it back at a 45* like you showed. after i tuck the wick into my juice channels i give it another trim right in the middle of the juice channel making sure that i cannot 'pick' any back out away from the jc. the very last thing i do is take a sewing needle and 'gap test my wick (again if you dont have a ring/barrier this may not apply to your tank)..i make sure the needle can fit behind the ring. its a skinny needle,, but it represents a highway for droplets
I have a Tobeco Kayfun v5 & I found that if I leave the tails a bit longer (enough to cover the juice feed holes with a light blanket of rayon) then cut /coil\ it doesn't leak or dry hit.
Hi @kross8 I'm trying to remember was it you who found a way to do a single coil between the two posts on the Griffin rather than using the single coil adaptor? I've looked back pages & pages trying to find that post & I can't find it. If it was you that successfully found a way to do single coil without the adaptor, could you explain it again? Thanks!
yes,, I wrapped/coiled like a vertical with long legs so that I could bend them back to the posts. I wrapped it at 3mm so I would have quite a bit of rayon to split between 4 juice holes. --the coil was installed horizontally
Which kfl tank do you have, they've been around many, many years.
Many people in the thread have used kfl style tanks, since way back to the beginning of part 1. I think you probably need to leave the tails a little longer, but thin, on the deck.. You don't have to cut all the way back to the coil. You can leave more up top if it works better for your vaping style, just has to be thinned past the bend. make sure your full tail isn't touching the chamber walls or it will darken.
You want to adjust methodically, one change at a time. It's recommended to work with the wick that's installed to see if you get results. You can always trim more, and also add some more to the deck in little pieces to get an idea of what is needed for next wick. The changes will take effect almost immediately.
For kfl you want to focus on a cascading waterfall looking wick. That from the side looks like it will nest right into the chamber without touching the walls. That's the maximum wicking you want.
There are many ways to do it. I can assure you it works flawlessly when you get it right

Use rayon (only) in all my rebuildables, most of which are KFLs. Never a problem with any leaks.
Bunny ears can work, although without some trimming you may not see the "life" of the wick some others see. Just cut flush or maybe 1/16" above the top of the chamber, tuck gently down with a toothpick or whatever.
Although without some thinning at the deck, you may get some popping
You may alos want to look at your coil. Too low and you'll increase leak chances.

I received my Serpent mini 25mm from 3fvape, turns out they didn't get them from Wotofo hence the delay, but once they got them in it got to me in 6 days wow! Amazing!
Just built it with the single coil deck, with Geekvape Clapton 28g * 2/32g, 3.5mm id, 6 wraps, .84ohms wicked with rayon and OMG :inlove: the flavor is AMAZING!!! airflow is perfect for me! I have quite a few rta's but none with flavor like this! I can wholeheartedly highly recommend if you love the Serpent mini 22mm the flavor is even better on the 25mm ! :hearts:

Edit: I just saw that you added the coil was installed horizontally, ok I'm lost, I don't understand what you mean.
my coil was positioned in between the posts.. your drawing is sorta right.. I had mine horizontal not vertical,, but I had to coil it like you would a vertical,, bending legs back so they would line up going into the posts. I used that method for about a month,, but it was a hassle/less satisfying than my lower subΩ habits so I went back to normal duel coils. I was hoping to save battery value in exchange for higher Ω's.
I have been coiling my Aromamizer, and Boreas like that, but yesterday, I decided to go back to dual coils.
Off Topic: Wondering if anyone else is having this issue... Every time I reload this thread, I have to login. Not having this problem with any other thread I visit.

Incidentally, for you single coil fans, try a Flash E Vape V3 or V4. Easy build, single coil and ALL stainless, even the tank, if you want to have that feature. It does come with a clear tank as well and glass tanks are available "aftermarket". I run at 30 watts with a Ti coil, wicked with rayon of course, and it performs as well as an Aromamizer. It's easy to fill, too, just unscrew the tank and pour right out of the bottle into the tank which holds around 6ml.

Me too! Except I haven't rebuilt to dual coils yet lol! Why may I ask did you go back to dual? Flavor/airflow?
