I do notice higher wattage or dryish hits speeds up the break in time, like you said. I have noticed it and it's when the density was too light. The super heated coil seems to force the air out of the wick fast. Actually I think you accurately described one of the symptoms of a wick that's a little too light.

I don't taste it with flavored, but I can Definatley see that with unflavored you probably would taste it for a few hits. Is this delascos your using or Sally's. If you want you can Try soaking/ rinsing a big wick for your next wicking, let it dry for a few days, so it can fluff back up. Then try that and see if you can still taste it. Just wondering.
It is Sally's. For what it's worth I also used to taste KGD for the same amount of time. So it's definitely the use of unflavored. I will try soaking it, I'm sure it will work and I prefer not to mess with its initial fluffyness :D

is it true that the reinforced cellucotton doesn't say anything about it being reinforced on the box? I remember reading somewhere that someone mentioned u can only identify the non reinforced by the model number of the box. is this true? I might go out and look for a box today and want to make sure I'm getting the right stuff :)

Yes the numbers are different, and I am pretty sure it says reinforced on the box somewhere.
For what it's worth I have been using the reinforced stuff, it is exactly the same just with a small strip of paper running along the length of the outside on one side. I just pull it away and use the rest. I have used the regular too and can attest they are exactly the same after the paper.

You mean I can't use my old underwear anymore? But I have a basket full...
Don't know how to break it to you but that's what a laundry and washing machines are for ;)

Obligatory CCr content... Just got a few burnt tasting hits on the Fogger V4 and when I over primed it the juice that leaked out was dark brown almost black where it normally is a pale pink color. Time to rewick, 3+ weeks, 50+ ml through the Fogger. I'd love to see half that with cotton.

It says reinforced right on the box. Just look for the 100% rayon

I can't find your post about it, but I just recoiled a friend's kayfun, and he wanted rayon in it. He gets the same dry feeling in the back of his throat, or maybe just agreed with me..cuz he wouldn't use it if it was the same..

I really don't understand.. I can put too much in, and I can cause it to be dry in my mouth. I can put too little in, and it's pretty hot and shrinks..which is a good sign (in Lmy s dtainted head:)).

But I will say, I cover my wick wells with it...I put a huge 1/8"coil in one. *diagnoal kfl build* I had to cut about 20% of the wick short, and I curled it like a typical diagonal kayfun build. I always covered my wells too..before rayon.

I'm not concerned about rayon/cellulose fiber. Jeremy put this thread up months before the sally's cellucotten exploded. As long as you're using 100% rayon/cellulose fibers, the only things I would worry about is the long term effects of flavorings and bases.

It was actually only a month before CCr took off. Sally's CCr was/is a readily available local source that people could go down the street and pick up. It's very inexpensive and many people were able to go pick it up with in minutes. This factor made it explode very fast.

Too much will cause a dry throat hit. Because it's actually the coil is drying out. But because rayon acts so differently you don't notice it like that because it doesn't burn like cotton would. The rayon try's as hard as it can to retain its own moisture to prevent burning. This starves the coil.

You see, if I use about the amount your stating I start getting horrible taste / bad vapor after half a day of vaping. I also find my coil is gunked to the 9's by the end of the day.

I'm having a hell of a time between to much and to little. Also advise on wicking the Russian 91?

What juice are you vaping? With some vapes, such as dirtier extracted tobaccos, a coil will gunk up no matter the wicking method.

These folks who didst rayon, really are few and in a small minority when you look at this thread and the outside culture that has grown from it, but the whiners usually gain the most attention. Some may have had a bad experience while using it and it was something else other the the rayon but that's what they blame. Maybe they got a batch that has been contaminated from being next to something nasty during shipping & storage, or they just didn't put in the effort we have too learn how to use it correctly. Lastly there is no doubt there are some who just look for confrontation, some folks don't have a life away from the keyboard.

I've always been active in shooting sports, instructing & competition, I belong to and follow firearm forums. The threads on any of those more often then not turn into pi$$ing matches, this forum is mild by comparison. I'm a big 2nd amendment guy but it worries me to think some of those people actually own firearms.

I wouldn't pay much attention to the nay sayers, they are few and far between. And as they say on the other forums, don't feed the trolls.

Sorry, I should explain again...I added extra details to show that I've really experimented and already know this wick...

I don't get dry hits. It's like a dry/itchy type feeling in the back of my throat on inhale. The vapor and flavor is fine. It's not extremely noticeable, but it's enough to make me not want to use it.

This is with every liquid I have...all 0-3mg.. mainly have used my 100% vg with it.. but I've tried everything I have.

I'll add this to my post above, so maybe you can read it again?

I'm convinced that the reason some folks are having problems with rayon, specifically CCr, is because they weren't doing a particularly good job wicking with cotton. Then they use the general rule of more than cotton. But since cotton fluffs up when full of juice whereas rayon shrinks if they're starting from the wrong, based on their cotton experience, amount they're ending up with the wrong amount.

I know from my experience that I used too much and got those harsh, lung and throat burning hits because the coil was starved for liquid. I think that's why larger diameter coils work better. When you get it wrong and stuff too full, the rayon wicks well enough that just the contract with the shoulders will keep the coil moist enough for low power and short hits to be acceptable. About what you'd get with cotton. Its not until you get the density of the wick just right do you get that delicious moist warm typical of rayon vape. Which I think explains a number of the "seems just like cotton" experiences that a new to using rayon vaper reports.

my wick gunks up on me within a week, completely unusable at that point and must be changed. when i pull it out it separates in two, like it has been burned/cut in half...i have no idea how some of you are getting weeks, even months worth of use with one wick.

2.5 ohm coil wrapped around a cylindrical standard sized toothpick at about 4.9 volts, fogger v2. multiple juices from ecblends.

i purchased the rayon from sally's, teh basketball sized box. can someone confirm for me the product number? i know its in this thread somewhere, but wading through all 89000 posts may take a while.

Sitting down, facing forward.
The box should have 44040 on it, I think without looking to check.

I just went back a few hundred pages to find out when I first rebuilt two of my Protank heads with cellulose. So far they've been in daily uses since June 17th. I generally refill them every other day. Round numbers, call that 25 refills in each for a total of, say 75ml. I do use my own DIY tobacco flavor in them, minimum sweetness, and they could certainly be a contributing factor. They are starting to lose some flavor so I'll probably switch them out tomorrow and have a look at the wicks and coils.

All I can say is WOW!

I had a sore-ish throat for the 1st 5 days after switching to rayon. Not too much to worry me but noticeable and mildly irksome to be sure. It went away. I figured it was simply a case of overly awesome juice-ification and I just needed to get used to it. Now even the most fancy of Japanese cotton tastes like spider turds to me.
