Andria,

I have never used WTAs but I have used NETs and the NETs dirty coils and wicks pretty fast. I am very confident that WTAs have even more particulates in the juice than NETs do ergo the wicks get dirty faster.

If you browse the WTA threads I am sure those folks will tell you they don't get near the mileage out of their cotton, silica or rayon for that matter.

By the way to make WTA they take the field tobacco hang in in the drying sheds just like they do with cigarette tobacco. Then they put the leaves in a "Ball Mill" and grind it into baby powder consistency prior to extracting and filtering all the chemicals they want to use.

With NETs they soak the leaves in PG for some time period until they think they have gotten all the flavor they can. Short of like making tea. My opinion (no guarantee) is that NETs while a little more particulates than flavored e-juice WTAs have a lot more. And the fact that it rinses clean or near clean kind of indicates to me the wick is just working like a filter collecting all the larger sized particulates.

I know no real help but check with the WTA folks and I think they will tell you that what you are experiencing is fairly normal.

:2c:

I haven't used WTA either but you pretty much summed up my thoughts in your post.

And whats the differance between your rayon and this? This is allot cheaper and it says 100% rayon.

Graham CelluCotton Cotton Coil

That was before Sally's was discovered, skip ahead to post 300 & 318 . This thread moves fast and is the journey that's made it so popular in only a couple months. I'm using pharmacuitical rayon(from the first post) rayon balls, and Sally's so what makes the difference. I'm not using the tencel stuff. No one knew anything about rayon at the time.

Huh, odd; it looks as clear as regular ejuice. But I guess it's a small price to pay, it's really helping with cravings and the other weird emotional symptoms, so whatever is necessary to get this effect, that's just fine. I guess I just wasn't expecting it, because it *does* look so clear. It works, and that's all I care about. :)

thx

Juice color can be deceiving. I have an almost crystal clear juice that gunks up coils faster than some much darker juices. After multiple builds and wicks I came to the conclusion it's the juice. For a period of time I figured it was me not hitting the builds sweet spot. After many tries and many other excellent builds I came to the conclusion it was the juice. It didn't gunk crazy fast, but much fast than expected.

I have heard others say the same thing... they need the additional alkaloids.

When I quit smoking and started vaping it took 4 days before I put down my camels after I started vaping. The cravings and feeling like I was missing more than just nicotine lasted a few weeks. I just vaped my brains out during that time. I'm positive I was addicted to more than just the nic.

Here's a question: is anyone else using WTA in their juice, using rayon? I've been using it for a bit over a week now, [EDIT: correction, about 2 wks now] and it seems the wicks don't go as long before tasting slightly burnt, and when I do open up my kfl+ and have a look, it's very black, though about 99% of the black washes off under running water. Sometimes there is a slight darkening under the coil, sometimes not. I usually go ahead and put a fresh wick anyway. But it seems to me that before I got sick, when I was just using regular non-WTA ejuice, the wicks lasted much longer before tasting funny.

Anyone else seeing anything like this?

Andria
I've been using rebuilt Kanger coils and WTA with rayon for about a month and a half. Love the rayon. I can get a week/week and a half out of a wick, and two weeks or more from the coil. That's way longer than I ever got out of cotton, two/three days at most. When I do pull the wick, there is a bit of darkening, but the juice still tastes fine. I suspect the funky taste is from the coil, not the rayon, or the juice.

Also, I very rarely use "regular" juice. When I do, I just put three or four drops of unflavored WTA per ml. Some use as much as 10% when mixing.

Head on over to the Aroma forum....really awesome people there. All willing and able to help. [emoji4]

I just replaced the cat litter with 44 packages of pop rocks.......now we wait.....

Rayon wick on a flashi dripper. Hands on how to. See how I've done it from the start. See the stretch I'm always talking about.

Parallel 32g, 5/64, 1.3 ohm. I went a little tight on this wick so the squeak/ scratching noise of the coil would be audible. Well.. That wasn't a problem. It's really loud. No other commentary. Just the business.

It's an iphone 5 front facing lens video. Lol. Didn't realize the audio would be that sensitive. Should have put music on in the background. Oh well turn it up when when I pull it through the coil.

Video, tips, how to, video, how to, video, tips, video

Yeah, I smoked ultra-lights, which are pretty low in nicotine, so if I vape anything over about 10mg for more than a few minutes, I start getting the stomach pains and then nausea. But I was firmly, unremittingly hooked, and I figure the cigarettes being ultra-light in nicotine doesn't mean they were necessarily any lighter in the other alkaloids than any other cigarette. It's really the only explanation I can find for the extreme degree of my addiction, considering the very small amount of nicotine I was getting -- well, doing it for 39 yrs surely has a major effect, too. :D But the WTA kept me from "hitting the rocks" at the 3wk point, as I did my first time around, back in March. I expect it will keep me from the same negative frame of mind when I get to the 3mo point too. Then I'll probably slowly taper down till I'm back to just nicotine.

Hmm maybe that's what my wife needs to start vaping again. She was never satisfied with any flavor tobacco/or not. She said it just did feel the same... She's back on analougs and i really want to get her vaping again with the diabetes factor too. My father just lost his leg his arteries in his calf exploded due to prolonged smoking, they failed once trying to repair it and almost lost him... He also has lung cancer. Iv had him try various tobacco flavors, and setups evods, cigalikes.
Maybe i can convert two birds with one juice. Is this NETs, or WTAs you all talking bout. Bonus points for diy links

Ironically, my buds live in Kato... :) As for finding a B&M in the Cities, it was Google Maps (searched for vape after searching for Minneapolis, MN). :p The only one I had time to visit was the Uptown Vapor Shoppe at 2817 Hennepin Ave, but Google Maps had several listed.

As an aside, it's good to see so many people having luck with rayon. Makes me happy to see our shared interest, hobby and, for some, job, not becoming a floundering mess, but instead, doing so well and constantly striving for better ways of approaching problems. :)

At any rate, keep on vaping, everyone! :vapor:

Be sure to check out the Whole Tobacco Alkaloid FAQ page too. It does "feel" right. I have two anxiety disorders....this stuff works.

Sorry Jeremy. Alright guys, back to RAYON. It works too. [emoji4]

 Are you squonking? I don't think rayon biodegrades that quickly, so I doubt it's the rayon. Could your tank have needed rinsing before you built? Maybe it's gunk residue.

haha I just ordered a KFL and a genny last night. I have a feeling that I'll be doing A LOT of backreading on this long, long thread. :\
Even on cotton, I LOVE my kfl. Insane flavor and options to sub-ohm dual coil if you're creative.

well, guess i'll have to revisit this Rayon thread in a few months when we're "hopefully" done with court.
I've tried the Rayon off/on in my R91 and Origen, haven't got it down quite yet, but with the extra hit of nic it gives, i'ld have to drop down to a Zero, and i'm not ready for that step yet.... the extra nic has been giving me headaches and making me feel loopy...

SO, i've got some KGD on the way to try. I'll be back here soon though hopefully, and i'll still lurk of coarse.

Ok is using a cotton core nessaray id rather do just rayon. And do i need to wick it loose seems like the opposite of everything iv read about rayon wicking

sig-153231.jpg

The op of the Vcore thread was actually the first incarnation of the vertical coil with rayon. Months before anyone heard of the chimney coil. If you continue reading toward the end, post 197 I figured out how to use the rayon straight without the cotton core... What rba are you using. There are a couple ways to do it. You want a nice even contact around the coil. Usually you will need to tuck little tufts in to spots where it's too light after break in.

The WTA will have the most extra 'stuff,' alkaloids and whatnot, then NETs. Normal e-liquid would be free of those things. So for someone who needs all the extras you could try NETs first and if that isn't enough move to WTAs. The back to NETs after awhile then e-liquid, if they're looking to wean themselves off the other chemicals.

Sounds like it lost full contact.

Examine the contact around the circumference of the coil. Tuck little tufts in around the outside with needles. One to push the main wick to a light contact with the coil and one to push light fluffy tufts in to fill the void for the full length of the coil. Not too right or it will also mute the flavor. If you run two strand like op of the thread you can tuck tufts at the coil at the gap where the two come together.

You want it light but enough to stay in full contact not packed tight.

Vertical, vertical, Vcore, bottom coil, chimney, hollow core
