Bummer to hear the 28g didn't work out for you Jeremy.

I've never used anything smaller myself. Currently using 26g in my drippers. I use the 28g in my tanks though.

Oh don't worry it will work bud. I guessed it at 8 wraps 5/64id. It's probably 1.1-1.2. I'll try again later 9 wraps should do it. 1.3+ is the target. Steam engine said 8.5 wraps. I might have wrapped 7 - I was in a hurry.

Also at some point I will spring for a mech... My vape budget is small.

Hey guys earlier today I wanted to post this.

This is how thin my tails are on a dripper and it wicks great lasts long.

That was the wick above wrapped on 9-2 picture is on 9-3 and used exclusively till today 9-17 at ~6 ml a day.

Here's the wick and coil I pulled this morning at around 70 or more mls, 100vg .. The lighting in these pics is poor so it doesn't have the clarity as above.

Here you can see I have a little too much rayon in. The shoulder on the light side is above the coil.

What PV were you using again, jax?

Authentic original (V1) Stingray Phantom Brass. I also have a Stingray X, V3 Flip, SS Nemesis, Grey Bishop, and a 4nine. All authentics. The SR PB is my best hitting mod.

I call it the "A Frame." It kinda looks like an "A" when there is no wicking. 10 wraps ea, 30 ga, 0.9 ohms net build, 1.59mm spaced. 20W so far. I was thinking that the fatty wick in the middle would concentrate the airflow somehow (kinda like a partition). Not to mention capture my drippy drips.

I lifted the positive sides of the coils as high as I could and used a single wick. Tails trimmed at an angle and wrapped around the sides for juice well control. The two air holes are pointed at the bottom of the coils. I wanted to see if gravity was a better juice feeder to the coils than the upward wicking action. So far this is the best tasting build I have done. Just for fun of course :)

I know I should reduce the Nic level but I made the mistake of stocking up when MyFreedomSmokes was having there 125 ml unflavored sale and I do mean stocked up. I really got carried away. I am having trouble buying more juice with so much just sitting on the shelf. At the time I stocked up it seemed like the right level of Nic for me them came this guy with an idea to use rayon as a wicking material came along and fouled my strategy. I am going to buy some PG/VG no nic and mx what I have down to 12 mg and if that is too strong I will just cut that again until I get down to something manageable.

On the flash evapor clone no I didn't get one. I don't remember why I did have trouble finding one and while browsing "Tbev" or was it "AMD" posted some pictures of their Seven-30 and Fogger and I was off to the races... blew all my vaping toy money or the month.
VG is super cheap...

Even can find USP glycerin at Wal-Mart, about $4per 6oz/177mL- same thing, just isn't derived only from vegetables(I taste the differences... I've done blind tests with her and myself to confirm, but it is barely noticeable- kinda like the flavor is warmer and greasy https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...Aqk_I7pEFKilpa_Cg&sig2=uDgbfdE7fwO9tgsyHt8ItQ ).. I jumped on MFS sale on 100mg nicotine. $50/Liter.. They also sent me a 125mL bottle because mine leaked a little, post man may have felt a little weird handling it..lol.

Question for you rayon pros. Have you ever found rayon to significantly alter the taste/sweet spot of a juice?

The GF is a big fan of Totally Wicked's peppermint menthol, it has a nice chocolatey taste that's rather subdued, but a major player.

So, I rewick her Evod with rayon for the first time, throw some peppermint menthol in, and... No chocolate whatsoever. Turning the voltage down from 3.8 made it show back up ever so slightly, but I'm at a loss here.

I know cotton imparts it's own unique taste, but I tend to vape relatively simple fruit juices, and nothing like this has ever happened for me, switching to rayon. I also haven't done any side-by-side comparisons, until now.

What gives? Could cotton have just muddled the flavor so badly that we simply perceived chocolate? Is much more peppermint flavor coming through since rayon wicks better?

suspectK,

I don't think I would want to use VG that wasn't all vegetable. Think I will just order from MFS. The only thing with them and I don't remember from my orders a few months back but the cheapest shipping they have now is $10 and change. So I end up paying more for the shipping than the price of the product.

I saw their ad for the liter of 100 mg. I don't know what I would do with that much Nic juice. Does the stuff ever go bad?

There is indeed a difference between cotton and Rayon. At first I noticed an increased sweetness and nic. Some flavors seemed to be muddled a smidge and some really woke up. I learned to tweak my builds to get the flavoring right again. I also ditched the B&M juices that I was accustomed to as they tasted way overpowering and too artificial.

IMO Rayon lightens the darker flavors and increases the lighter flavors. To me chocolates are less "spoonful of pure cocoa powder" and more subdued (in a balanced way). My fruits have increased significantly.

Just my experiences.

Best bet is to go back to OC and see how it is then. I tried OC to see what it was like a while back and discovered that I didn't like it anymore and learned to tweak my builds (watts/volts included). To me my Walgreens OC cotton balls were too "cottony" and they retained that taste. I couldn't even make it past the break-in period before I yanked the wick.

Big Buddha owners, beware:
If you bought a Replacement Glass Tank from KidneyPuncher.com , they DO NOT Warranty against DOA
if you chose to use USPS First Class Mail as your shipping option.
I have just received mine cracked and they would not replace it.

That is terrible. Who in their right mind would ship a glass tube in a bubble mailer!!!??? Couldn't they spring for some type of small box!!?? That is like having unprotected sex in Thailand. You may not catch something, but odds are you will.

Reminds me of a dude that sold me a replacement laptop computer screen on ebay. It arrived in a priority mail envelope all FUBAR. Needless to say I got my money back. It was probably toast from the get go.

Switching to rayon can have a wide rage of variables based on how the user applies it. From the information provided I would say its possible that the wick is too tight. Too tight can mute the flavor and you said turning it down...

The flavor profile could be different because the juice isn't burning the same. Usually a rayon wick will need more power than cotton. But all aside it's probably something in the application and density that would need to be tuned in with current setup.

I got it in PG..it'll stay in the topshelf of my freezer. Keep it in the bag it came in, with the top resting on the side of the shelf to elevate it, since I had it leak on the trip over to me. I'm not 100% sure on the shelflife though..edit- why I'm not just messaging you. Hopefully, someone can answer without Google.

Check out tfa's website.. Normal shipping prices..until you get like 5 gallons of each base, and it'll make you get some flavors too.;)

Thanks, atroph. I recently started DIY, so I think I'll just have to figure out a good recipe for a similar ADV sooner rather than later. Then I'll be able to tweak it as her equipment progresses too!

I just wanted to make sure I wasn't alone in finding that a juice could change so significantly (just losing an undertone, but it made a big difference) with rayon!

ETA: Jeremy, I think you're right. I'm realizing my wicking skills have never been fantastic. I just happened to get it right "enough" with Kayfun and cotton, but the switch to rayon has made me question some things. I'll have to try again with less rayon. I kept hearing "cram it full of rayon, it shrinks when wet!" And I think I've been taking it to the extreme. I'll get it one of these days, dammit!

I've noticed that too...but I get a weird throat hit/itch, even with 0mg and 100% VG..but even with my trials with it..collusus was nothing like I was use to it being..
