Ever read that thing about eating too many gummy bears? funny

The other thing is it absorbs water, I think. Isn't that why they tell us to drink lots of water when vaping? Maybe drinking it will suck you dry and you drop a gummy bear. Maybe that's how they are made.

I thought it was the PG that worked like a desiccant but what do I know.

Oh - And I have eaten my last Gummy Bear thank you very much.

I recently just learned to rebuild coils (maybe a month ago). My favorote tank is my smoktech ARO bottom coil tank, and it is pretty much what I use all day long :) I also rebuild my kanger evod coils, top coil tanks such as vision vivi nova tank, and i have rebuilt my small smoktech dripper rda. Soooooo, to get to my point...haha..... I like my coils at or around 2.0 ohms to 2.5ohms and so far i have only wrapped around a 1/16 drill bit. My question is do you guys think that wrapping around something bigger is better than wrapping around a 1/16 drill bit. I have been thinking about making my coils a little bit bigger, like perhaps wrapping around a 3/32 drill bit. I thought i would ask you guys what you think about it. I also have an Acro5.0 tank and an aspire nautilus tank, but i have not tried rebuilding their coils yet. I wanted to get more cotton or rayon first. I have one more question (sorry guys) i had a couple organic cotton balls that I got in a little kit as a gift, and they lasted a while...lol Well, i have finally run out, and i have never purchased organic cottonballs, but i assume walmart would have them (my boyfriends workplace is not far from a walmart). Does it have to be organic cotton balls? I am getting ready to look on walmart website to see how much they cost and if they do have them. Thanks guys!

First, I was trying larger than 1/16 and having gurgle and flooding. I read here in the forums most people using 1/16 or metric around that size. I switched to 1/16 and they work well with cotton or rayon.

In RDA devices I use 5/64

Second I used regular cotton balls but some people worry and use organic. Either way is only a couple of dollars a bag so you might as well get organic. I believe Walmart and most drug stores have them in a bag.

I have tried larger than 1/16th and found with the Kanger type coils it would block the airflow too much and I don't like sucking milkshakes thru a straw.

As far as cotton balls my Wal-Mart doesn't have organic or at least I haven't found them. I just use the ones from the baby section and I figure if they are good enough to stuff in a babies ear or whatever they are good enough for vaping. Like Paul said they are only a couple of dollars for enough balls to keep you going till the next presidential election.

Then of course you can pick up 500 feet of rayon for about 10 bucks at a "Sally's near you" and that will last at least 4 presidential elections or more. ;)

Thank you! I wondered what difference there would be in coil sizes :)
Also, I checked walmart site, and saw that cotton balls that were not organic were a little over $2 to $3.50 and the organic cottonballs were $6.96 and another brand was $6.56. I just wonder if i got the non organic and boiled them if that would make them ok to make coils with.

Terry, if you want some more, I'll drop it in the mail to your current address. When I say "coarser" to me the fibers, themselves, are slightly bigger and it doesn't "shed" as much as Graham. I had a hard time getting an effective needle that held it's shape long enough to thread through the coil, it seems a little "springier", too. I may give it another try, I've got about a ten year supply as it is right now.

I have both Tencel and Ramie, and I really like Ramie in my KF's. The "trick" with both Tencel and Ramie is to pre-saturate your wick before you insert into your coil. I first determine size (based on coil id - they do not shrink), and then I gently form the wick and put it on some wax paper and completely soak with my juice, and then I install into the coil and trim. They both work well but I personally believe the Ramie wicks a little faster. Rayon is just as good but I find I do not need to trim the tails with Ramie. I just cut it to where it is just touching the top of the deck of the KF. I also thinks it works the best of all three in my Taifun.

BTW Holman, I googled gummy bears ........ and found it was the sugar free ones.

Paul, you still ruined Gummy Bears for me forever!!! :D

@WVducklady,

I would worry about boiling either people use them for cosmetics and treating cuts. The vendors know how they are used and I am sure they are made in a pretty clean environment. I tried boiling some when I first started but they take forever to dry and get kind of stiffy so I gave up on the boiling real quick.

OK I have the link saved. I don't know about this link but the last one you posted while out of stock would let you buy and wait for the next shipment. I don't usually do that because just as soon as I lock myself into something like that I'll find a site that has a ton in stock.

I can send you a sample Holman. I'll drop it in the mail this week.

I don't really know. I've read in this thread about ramie and about tencel so I thought they were different types of rayon or different processing of rayon. Maybe somebody else will chime in.

Ramie is china grass, totally different thing. I was saying the tensel fiber arrangement is very similar to ramie in that it's straight long continuous fibers. - as is any fiber called top. It's similar to working with ramie. I have that too. Tencel is talked about most back around posts 200-400.

I got 3oz of tencel, and it's a lot! ... One oz is plenty to get you by for a long time, like maybe a year. I personally like the fluff rayon coil myself but they both have their advantages.

I wish the answer was that simple ... however increased nic from Rayon does not seem to be the answer (18mg does not hurt my throat with Japanese Cotton, so I doubt 12mg nic on Rayon is the nic causing it).

For me, it seems to be something connected to the Rayon ... and it's not like any of us actually know for sure.

I can see how you think that but the vapor is much different from cotton. It is much more potent. 18mg on cotton still isn't the same. The federal government defines rayon as pure cellulose. There is nothing coming off it. Unless your rayon package got contaminated.

I am a th hound. I was trying all different kinds of nic trying to get the strongest th possible without going up in mg's . Rayon does it for me. A kickin th. Yes some people don't like th, and therefore may not like rayon for that reason.

Throat hit is a burning in the throat. Too much th for an individual will cause irritation.

If the wick is on the loose side it will cause coil hits that are not good. It's a dry vapor that is irritating. Sometimes it's hard to tell that the wick loosened up on you when it broke in.

For me, what works best is to match the width of the juice channels (the two slits on the sides of the coil). Just straddle your drill bit over the channels to find out what that is - I think it's about 1/16" on Kanger coils. If you went wider, your wick tails would be too fat for the channels and you'd have to figure out how much to thin them down. You'd also lessen the already-tight airflow inside that teeny tiny chamber. When you mount your coil, leave it on the drill bit, straddle the channels with the drill bit, tug down on the tails a bit, and don't slide the drill bit off until you've locked down and trimmed the coil legs - this will keep you from installing the coil too low, which would also screw up your wicking and airflow. :2c:

OMG! Thank you for that! That is just something I did not think of...and i do not think that i would have thought of! Lol My next coil build tomorrow I am going to try that :)

Walmart cotton balls and organic cotton from CVS is two totally different things, the cotton from Walmart is unusable to me. It imparts an awful flavor that cotton from CVS doesn't. I thought the same thing about cotton being cotton but geez it definitely isn't.

The cotton I'm referring to from Walmart is called "White Cloud" and it's horrible for wicks.
