edit;

Sorry, this one i got it online from Mielks Fibers.

More confusion... that says Viscose (generally bamboo)... mine is Tencel(R) via the lyocell method and from Eucalyptus cellulose. Generally it's not that important to us... but the FTC aren't happy when one thing is sold as something different. If someone wanted Rayon from 'non-toxic' sources or solvents... they would want something from the lyocell method.

What you show is
https://www.louet.com/product/00/14.500/Bright-Viscose-Top-12-lb-bag

what you may have ordered was
https://www.louet.com/product/00/7.100/White-Tencel-Top-12-lb-bag

Light a small piece with a lighter, if it's rayon it will burn to a clean ash like cigarette paper, if it melts it's not rayon!

It's not a biggie... they just sent you the wrong stuff... probably. As you see in the links, it's two different products... and your bag has the manufacturer product code right on it.

Both of the ones I listed are Rayon... just made via two different methods, using different types of trees for the cellulose.

Just looked... they sent you 119107 instead of 119112.

Don't feel bad, I'm confused too! All I know is that I'm happy with Sally's, and I have enough to last a lifetime or two! :)

I just wicked some coils. I was thinking how long that 25ft bag of Sally's will last me. I use about 1/4 width of the coil and about 2 inches per wick

25 ft * 16 inch/ft * 2 wicks/inch / 52 wicks/year = 15.4 years :)

Tidi and Delasco are comparable. Get whichever one is in stock. They differ from Sally's in that they seem to have gotten an extra wash (people say they're cleaner - no initial off taste) and their strands are a little more consistent (sometimes lengths of Sally's within the box have knots and tiny broken strands).

Sorry didn't check in today...

Dudes no worry's that is rayon/ aka viscose. One in the same.

The "top" disctiptor describes the fiber, its a continuos straight strand. Like the tencel you can find which is also a viscose. But classified as lyocell. Due to the environmentally friendly process. But rayon processing is much more friendly now a days they don't dump byproducts in rivers but recycle them now too.

Viscose is the original name of standard rayon. Bamboo is for the most part a hoax in the industry. At any rate whether its trees, cotton scraps, bamboo, eucalyptus. It is all chemically separated to produce a pure cellulose strand. Cellulose on a molecular level.

Lyocell / tencel isn't a whole lot different than viscos rayon cellulose, the only claim is that its environmentally friendly. Not that the end product is safer at all they are both safe. I actually find standard rayon to be more pure than lyocell. Both are fine.

I'm confused about the latest posts :) I'm using Sally's Rayon. If I want to try better Rayon, what shall I get?

This one

TIDI Cotton and Rayon Balls - MedSupplier.com

or

Delasco - Rayon Balls ?

Or the Bright Viscose stuff?

Tidi and Delasco are comparable. Get whichever one is in stock. ^^^^^^^^^^^

The two linked are very similar. Delascos is medium sized and smaller package cheaper. The TiDi can be had in the large nugget size, easier to work with a bigger piece. Larger packages more money.

My preference , pharmacuitical rayon coil, balls, Sally's, tencel or viscose *top for a straight fiber that I don't care for but works like ramie but easier.

The balls are sent through an extra wash and more uniform for medical use.
