I know this is the rayon thread but hey... You guys are cooler than on most threads out there...

As weird as it seems, I don't have a dripper (lol). I would like one to try out the marvels of blowing clouds on a rayon wick to experiment a few juices.

Any recommendation for a cheap, solid top performer that won't give me trouble?

Thx

Long live rayon

Never tried a Dripper myself, but the Goliath with Rayon is wild attached to the SX Mini.....what a beastly setup........:)

Thank God I found Jeremy's Rayon thread a few months ago.....!

Certainly learned a lot from Tony and Jeremy.....:toast:

A Plume Veil would be my recommendation, I use mine with a single coil. They do weep a little due to the bottom air hole, just the nature of the beast and well worth putting up with because of the flavor they kick. There are three levels of air flow control, top, sides and bottom that give you a lot of variables to tinker with. This is the one I got from focal --> $8.14-$10.74 Plume Veil Aomizer - Silver

Sounds great but weren't there some problems with those? I think I recall someone mentioning they were a fiddle to work with or something like that.

Are those dimensions correct? 33mm width??

I've never had issues with mine. But it's a 26650 model. Very easy to build...

I've been playing with a trade of rayon I received. Today, I wicked all my tanks and 10 coil heads with it. Gotta say I'm impressed.

No that dimension is wrong, it's 22mm, I just measured mine to double check. Fiddle to work with? Don't know what they would be talking about unless it was in regard to the weeping, I haven't had any trouble with mine. Jeremy has one, I'm sure he'll chime in. There is an adjustment on the top cap, the black delrin piece shown in the pics. You turn the drip tip to lower or raise it, when lowered it opens up the air holes in the top and also reduces the chamber size at the same time, that really increases the flavor. Focal also has a version of the Plume Veil that has six holes in the top, some day I'm going to try that one. $8.88-$9.41 Plume Veil Style Rebuildable Dripping Atomizer - Stainless Steel Now that I think about it, I guess I could just drill four more holes in mine. :)

The Magma is a good inexpensive dripper. This is the one I bought. It's set up for single or dual coils, 22mm. And agree the Plume Veil is good, too. I got the same one linked to above from FC in a group buy. Mine is 22mm, same SKU 18394- so don't know why it's listed as 33mm. Either they changed the size and used the same SKU or the current listing is in error.

I screwed up. I thought for sure I was gonna set a new high mark with this wick, but after 42 ml with no diminished flavor at all, I figured I would give things a light cleaning with a paper towel between juices. Everything seemed to go as planned. But when I began vaping it, I started getting horrible dry hits...or so I thought.

I pulled it all apart and sure enough everything was black, but nothing else looked out of order. I quickly gave it light rinse to see what was going on and it was perfectly white and still appeared to be snug in the coil. I tugged it out of the coil to see what it looked like underneath where it had been in contact with the coil and somewhat shielded from the rinse. It was perfectly white as well. Not even slightly brown. Anywhere!! ...? Man, I loved that wick...:(

All I can figure is a bit of paper towel or something found its way onto the coil when I was wiping things down on the outside. We'll see if I can make it to 500 ml next time, I guess.

Wiping is cheating :D

I don't touch or even look at my wick once it's installed unless there is something making growling noises from the inside of the atty.... In which case I fire it at 40w to make sure I kill the thing before opening the atty and see what it was :D ;)

Thanks for the info. Looks quite nice. It has a fixed 510 pin right? You can run it with only one coil only or do you need to close some holes?

This one looks quite sturdy. Those wells are big! As with the Plume Veil, it has a fixed positive pin I hope?

I like the magma because it seems to work out of the box with just one coil. The Plume Veil with more posts seems to be rather made for dual coils? The adaptability of the plume veil seems however better... hard choices :)

Update:

Slavkov's balls are here :D

I'm going to rebuild my atty by lunch time and hopefully give a brief review in the afternoon. Lets hope I'll get to it before the forum turns the lights off :)

Tony

PS: Its 100% rayon because as soon as I touched one of the rayon balls I had a shiver going through my spine lol. I don't get that with cotton. Incredible how rayon makes my teeth cringe lol.

So... I just finished rewicking my erlp.

I purposely let my tank dry out during lunch so that I could rewick the atty without having to drain the juice. I got a little anxious so I rebuilded it as fast as I could. :)

First impressions:

- the bag is 5 years worth of weekly rewicks. I did the math :) for that money, Slavkov should have two bags at home for a decade of restful vaping.

- if you play a little with the fiber ball, you will find that it's rolled up rayon. Find the end and you can unroll it into a perfect foot long strip. The sheet has the fibers nicely lined up. Not tencel like but as strait as my tidi rayon.

- it's not as compressed as Sally's and the strip width is ideal to wick a coil. Cut a 8 cm strip and then all you need is to cut it in half lengthwise so you can double insert the wick from opposite sides of the coil.

- It's really fluffy like the tidi balls or even more. I find it superior to o.b and Sally no doubt. It's easier to work with than those small twisted tidi balls.

- I kept the same titanium coil and just rewicked. Maybe it's because this wick is new or because I maybe wicked it better but subjectively I feel like I'm blowing more clouds and the vapor is denser. Don't know. Maybe really just psychological :)

To anyone wanting to try real rayon in Europe and having access to the DM Ball bag, go for it. I like it a lot.

Slavkov: you found a great source of rayon. Go pile up some bags because these are really great :)

No need for fiber freak. At the price of one pack, you can have 25 years of pure rayon.

Sorry to hear that man. I probably would have tried to burn it off while driping a few times. Might have cleared it... Or blowing it out.

Well I only wipe if I run my tank empty or get a dry hit due to freezing VG, and it won't go away... Needless to say over a month this happens a few times
