Hi all,

Couple of questions from a novice:

1. I want to try a dual coil on a kf 3.1 and want to know what gauge wire would work best in order to yield a resistance around 1.6-1.8 ohm.
I have built a few coils 1.6-2.2 ohm and have gotten the hang of it. I have actually built a pretty nice dual coil set up on the kf 3.1 however, I use a vamo and have not
been able to get the resistance high enough using 28g kanthal.

2. Is using the vamo resistance reading sufficient or do I really need to get a separate resistance reader?

Thanks,

poorcharlie.

Either use 30 gauge with the same number of wraps, or use 28 gauge with more wraps then prior.

I can't attest to the accuracy of your mods resistance reader, but its most likely fine as long as your building coils in the 1.5-2.5 ohm range. If you ever decide to build coils in the low 1's or sub-ohm levels you will need a separate reader.

Yea, I'd definitely get a separate reader if you're going to be doing any building below, at the most 0.5. I use my MVP for my everyday builds, 0.6-0.8, but it reads anything lower than 0.5 as 0.0. My last build was 0.22, but had to read it on a real reader at the shop.
