RBA Help!

I'm a new member so I can't post in the right place yet, forgive me.

I'm using a smok Octopus rba and whenever I try to rebuild it (30AWG, 2mm Silica), it works fine, resistance is in check, BUT it chars the .... out of the wick, even if i drench it in juice before any voltage goes thru the wire. Can anyone explain this and possibly help me with a solution?

Additional info:
-Using a VV mod (ZMAX because i dont have a mech yet)
-Resistance is 1.3ohms
-Volt output is at 3.1v
-I have tried to rebuild it around 5 times too

I'm guessing because I can't see what it's doing but .................
Sounds almost like you have a "hot spot". My guess would be that the first wrap (positive post end) is to loose.

I wouldn't worry about the charring. When I dry burn my coils, it kind of turns a little black. When i put juice on the coils though, it usually works fine. The stuff that chars is usually just impurities.
