So I'm on the fence between a Mutation X v4 or a Royal Hunter. I am setting one up on friday and I'll be new to the dripping world. So, let us discuss this and help me choose.

Things id like to have in the rda set up is. ..
1. Deep well.
2. Max airflow
3. Bigger holes on the +/- posts.
I was between the two and was told to go with the royal hunter. I would say the juice well is not as deep as mutation but deep enough. Airflow is pretty damn good on it wide open and the holes are huge. I don't make claptons but I'm fairly sure you could fit them through there. I heard mx4 leaks a lot and has .... flavor. Well royal hunter leaks some like all drippers and mostly if you over drip. Flavor is pretty damn good and clouds are moderate to great depending on your build. I would recommend it

What do you want from this RDA? Max vapor production, max flavor or some combination of these two? What power level do you like to vape at?

Royal Hunter in that case, if you are planning to go higher wattage, 75+ watts the Mutation begins to get a little to warm even with the amount of airflow they have. Balancing between clouds and flavor the Mutation would be better suited in the 35 to 65watt range. Flavor you'll want a smaller chamber and a little less airflow, maybe like a Derringer or Bambino, small chamber, deep juice well, can be adjusted pretty airy, and still give a decent cloud with a lot of flavor. Veritas or even a Vector would serve good on flavor as well as vapor, or could always good oldie but goldie a Dark Horse.

Even with a Sony VTC3, VTC4, or LG HB6 30amp, I'll suggest look at 0.25 minimum on your resistance as you'll still need some "UHOH!" room. If you are just starting out rebuilding 26 or 28awg thickest wire until you get the hang of things in the 0.6 to 0.8ohm range. Cartel is a nice mod, I've got an Authentic Brass V1 I've had almost 18months now, one of my favorites with my brass Nemesis Clone my second favorite mech. RDA really doesn't play an effect when unregulated, what they affect is flavor and airflow which can affect vapor production, but those only come after the coil, wicking, and VG content of your juice.

A lot of variables go into it, basically have to look at large or turbulent you want the perfect storm going on inside the the RDA chamber, looser airflow will decrease flavor, tighter airflow will promote flavor. I am like Ryedan, my RDAs I am a flavor chaser, 0.5ohms or higher, though when I was rocking my Cartel at first as my daily driver at work at a vapor shop I was a cloud chaser. I've been across the most of the spectrum, from cig-a-likes to cloud chasing at both ends of the extremes, even playing around with goofy coil designs when I was bored at work at the shop. Since stepping out of the vapor shop scene I gravitated to in the middle, most times on tanks and low wattage, mid-range wattage with TC and most my drippers, though I still do have a couple clouding setups (Mutation X V2 with a pair of Clapton Coils on a Sig150watt)

Just be safe out there.

I'm just getting into rdas. So far I've tried the mutation x4, the velocity Tobeco mini, and mad hatter mini.
The mx4 and mad hatter are way too leaky. I think it's cause your going to wind up with the coils over the air holes. From that it just drips down into the airholes.
The velocity is a rip roaring beast and easy to build on. No leaks either. It just has a big barrel drip tip that I'm not so fond of. Overall out of the 3, to me it's the best. Goes through the juice though. I'm not on the search for a smaller drip tip that will fit into it.
Good luck!

I own both of these RDA's and while the Mutation X V4 is a great atty, it literally has NO juice well which is a pain in the ..... It chucks the clouds, but you'll only get 2-3 hits out of it before you need to re-drip where as on the Royal Hunter it will chuck clouds like no other AND it has a deep juice well. I will get about 15 good hits before I need to re-drip on the Royal Hunter. The Royal Hunter has excellent airflow as well.
