Hey guys,
Just wondering, Some of you may know I just picked up a Hobo 3.1. These things have just recently been hitting stores, I know upgrade kids have been around for a bit though.
Basically seems to be a lot of people pumping the stumpy. I am just wondering why you guys think it's better and what kind of builds are you running in it that makes it seem better to you?

I think every atty has a perfect build and it's hard comparing say a nic200 build in one atty to a Kanthal build in another.

With that said I am loving my hobo 3.1 with ni200 twisted 28 9-10 wrap .10-.11 @ 420f 26w

The stubby and hobo 3.1 are very similar and do believe hobo has fix and even made it better with the 3.1 so I am very curious for those of use who has used the stubby what kind of builds you are doing. I am very curios what makes the stubby better as I have yet to try one.

Oh and the Dingy is already in my shopping cart lol
I wanna buy this so bad!!!!! Lol But unfortunately I can't justify it, I just got the mako shorty and there almost the same build so it would be pointless for me right now. Damn. You'll have to let us know how it is when you get it up and running!!

That looks like a totally diffrent attie with the F logo rather then Dingy scrawled across it, whats up with that? I like the looks of the F logo one.

The Stumpy is better then the 3.1 for a lot of reasons IMO but the first is the flavor. Its just BETTER off a Stumpola IMO and I fancy myself a pretty good builder. Secondly IMO the Hobo quick disconect tech is stupid, the airflow should be holes rather then slots on such a small attie IMO and I think the quality of the Stumpy is a bit better to. There very similar atties, I had both and I was going to keep the better one. The Stumpy outshines it in everyway. Im doing ni200 in my Stump right now and I am buying another one for ni200. When I buy an attie and get another one its an AMAZING attie. The only other attie that I have used that I could say is on the same level flavor wise is the Marquis. It also puts out decent amounts of clouds for the style of attie. If you like HUGE MUTATION X airflow and MASSIVE clouds its probally not for you. Im doing a dual 30g .08 started at 410 and really likeing 440. 60w. The Stumpy has even made me like ni200 wire. The flavor is just insane.

I understand the funds issue Heisnberg but when you can get one you should. Or try to find one used, I think I can tell what you like haha and I really think the Stumpy would check the boxes.

On another note, Petri is an amazing attie. I think it works best for bigger (as in LONGER) coils so I ripped out my build and slapped in some spaced 24g Royal Wire.

I just rebuilt my stro mini that I wasn't really a fan of. So I put a single coil in the middle of the posts, what are they calling this now? A "z" coil or whatever but my god what a difference. I really wish I had a smaller 2 post atty cause the flavor is amazing, still don't like the stro but this just made it worth the 30$ I spent on it. More 2 post attys are definitely in my future! Id kill for a stumpy size one I bet it would taste so good.

try moving the coil slightly up and down to fine tune the flavor, very little change of position does change the vape with a center coil and chamber volume doesn't matter nearly as much as it does on a conventional atty cause the chamber itself is pre coil rather than post coil as a conventional atty , it's all dependant on how close it is to the drip tip where before with regular side airflow it was all about how close you can get to the air inlets, here it's about how close it is to the outlet instead.

the term Z coil was first used by mark bugs I believe, the chalice 1 & 2 used a center mounted coil and when you look down on it it looks like a Z with one leg going one way and the other going opposite. at first I really didn't like these chalice's because even though it used a center coil it only used one side air inlet. this leaves some pretty nasty stagnant pockets and because the coil is so removed from the bulk of the airflow it would give much more throat hit. once I opened up a hole opposite the single hole though it's a whole different world ... really awesome with dual 1.5mm inlets on this tiny thing... so far nothing touches it, although the nuppin with a center coil does come really close. I'd expect the stumpy to be in this league

heres a pic of the chalice II with an added afc and dual inlets... not much to look at but a sick vape, truly the best I've ever had bar none when it comes to flavor and he was almost the first one to start this craze, except he only did one airhole so it wasn't so great out of the box :)

Yea im thinking of doing a coil like that BUT I like top posting them and thats impossible with grubs. Before I ripped it out I had a super low ohm setup in my Petri right down the center z style or w.e its called. It was wicked in a way that allowed me to put an INSANE ammount of juice into it. I could take fifteen GOOD hits off it at .12 ohm and have it a tad moist. Eighteen hits and all the cotton was WHITE.

Cool. I just haven't pulled the trigger on it myself as yet. I think it's because it is so similar to say the Derringer, but I do prefer the AFC on the Mako along with the chuff cap w/ AFC also. I think that is a major plus to it IMO...

Yeah I understand that, I have a derringer myself. I like small attys in general but this one was a steal especially with everything it comes with like you said. I can't say much on build quality since I don't have it yet but I'm sure it'll be awesome. Plus I had a 20% coupon code and that was the only thing I wanted and the code expired this month. I said screw it.

Whats the coupon code? Is it still good? It would help sway the decision I'm sure....

On a different note, has anyone tried the 454 V2 mini from Kryptonite? I just recently found this atty again and am thinking of adding it also to my collection. I think it would be a good atty to do some horizontal coils in for a change up... Anyone got one?

Thanks for that explanation, I will have to try and get my hands on a Stumpy and try it out. Just curious still kinda new at this (a few months) and this being my first small RDA what are the benefits of holes v's slots on a small arty? As for the disconnect I think they did a nice job. Actually, when I first got it it was hard to use but works in fast, I also think this atty will never leak due to this design, even has a bit of a lip on the inside.

You never learn if you don't ask questions, thanks for helping.
