RDAs? Which to get ahhhh!!

So I've tried the iGo L rda, but I really didn't like it. It seemed rather low quality. The threading broke within a week. Also the cap was very difficult to remove. What kind of rda would you suggest? I'm looking to run it sub-ohm on my evic (if possible... I don't know if it is) or on my standard, run-of-the-mill mechanical mod. What are your opinions?

HI PaulAndrew and welcome to ECF. I like my IGO-L with micro coils and cotton wicks. I've had it for a few months now and had no problems at all with it. I'm careful to align the cap with the base when I put it on. Not really much different form my AGA-T. There are a lot of different companies that make these but I have never heard about people having problems with them. It's a pretty simple device. What ohms were you running it on the Evic and what type of coils were you making?

It's the only RDA I own so I can't give you any advice on better ones, but there a lot of them out there. Prices range from $10 to hundreds of bucks.

I think the amp limit of the Evic is 2.5 or 3. I don't know how low resistance it will fire, but I doubt it will go to low.

I haven't tried it on my evic yet. I just got my evic recently. I was under the impression that if I fired it at 3.7 volts it would go sub ohm. But I may be wrong. But yeah I was running my IGO-L at around .5 ohms on a 3.7 volt mech mod and the top cap wouldn't come off so I screwed it into my mech mod to try to pull the cap off, and it pulled off the mod and stripped the screw. I'm not sure if that's completely user error, or if it was also an issue with the product, but that was my experience with it.

I've been looking into RDA for quite a few days. Trident. Patriot. Immortalizer. All three are in my shortlist. Going for a genuine product the patriot comes in a bit cheaper. But fasttech has trident and immortalizer clones and I've read over 100 times that they are really good clones. The price is great too. Think I might get one of each of the clones. Use them awhile to decide which style I prefer and then invest in a upgrade to the genuine article. From what I gather the trident rocks everyone because the extra neg post promotes dual coil builds. It also has 3 different size airholes to choose from. And its a large capacity dripper. The IMMO has a ceramic base in the drip well. It has airflow control. It has slotted poles that were designed with ribbon wire in mind. I heard the immo has a nice combo effect from the; base ported airflow + chamber size + splash shield.
My advice is to check out those three names. Hope my time spent on research might save you some time.

the trident also has slotted posts, tell you right now you get the clones from fasttech you will be mad when you buy the real ones for 50 dollars more and see very little difference. not saying the difference isnt there but $60+ for a different insulator?
i own many of the FT clones and many of them rock and work well enough to see no reason to spend 50+ on the real ones.

im not usually a clone supporter but I have a hard time with 60 to 80 bucks for a dripper. couple pressfit posts and some cheap screws............

I have been seeing the Nimbus for around $50-$60. They are not too tough to find and are a staple. I have a Reo, so many of the drippers I use are because they come as bottom feeders. The Reomizer is a great atty, even for people who do not use Reos. It has a ceramic base and does not get as hot as other attys. The Vicious Ant Cyclone is a great atty too.

I see a lot of folks fumbling around in the dark with RBA's, not knowing what they want from one. This is an expensive mistake in my opinion. Seems to me that a guy would be better off knowing what they want first, and then looking for the RBA that does THAT best. Otherwise most will find themselves telling folks that they love xxxx RBA when in fact they are just settling for what it does.

I wanted a RDA that best replicated the vape that I already liked best, and wasn't looking for a different vaping experience. I just wanted to be prepared should the FDA drop a heavy foot. The A7 (Pegasus) & A7 Mini fit that bill for me, but they can't do sub ohm if that is what you really want. What they do well is vape just like a normal 510 atomizer.

Yeah I've had a A7 RDA for a couple of months for tasting different flavours and learning the basics of building coils and I use a protank2 for my all day vape. When I started I was using carto tanks and still do. While I enjoy protanks and cartos for their satisfactory simplicity and being able to load up with a few ml and just keep vaping and I only get a little frustrated when the carts or replacement coil heads get clogged up and stop performing. With the dripper I've had it kick ... with smooth but strong enough throat hit, fuller body and tastier flavour at a comfortable mild temperature. But I've also had it suck with thin wispy vapor that was just plain harsh to inhale. Some delivery systems are restricted to how good they can be and also how bad they can be. Protank or cart tank just seem to work satisfactorily and then reach a point after about 3 days and its time to switch out the cart or coil head and it's back to good again. In my experience, dripping has a more dynamic range. It can be heaven or hell or anywhere in between. I can't wait to upgrade to a nicer dripper. My A7 has its limitations.

You can't run sub ohms on an Evic .. and it sounds like you got a knock off IGO L, I doubt that an authentic Youde IGO would give you the same issues ... I also recommend that you don't go rushing into sub ohm vaping, because it sounds like you are fairly new to all this being that you didn't know the limitations of your present device.
