Yep, get your wicks nice and wet without flooding the deck, drip onto the cotton. Your wicks should be nice and moist and a little extra liquid sitting on the deck but not so much it leaks.

Depending on where your build is (ohms) and your power level you may have to drip more often.

Right now I am dripping a .4 ohm dual at 27 watts and I get 4/5 good hits before I have to drip again. My wick and deck holds 12-15 drops without flooding.

I hope that helps.

How tight should my cotton be inside the coils?

How tight should my cotton be inside the coils?

that's a trick learnt from experience.
too tight and it tends to give dry hits.
too loose and the coil doesn't touch.

roll the cotton between too fingers to make it thin enough to fit but don't twist with two hands or it ends up being too compressed.

watch some youtube videos.

So I recently got a a drip atomizer and whenever I re-wick it with cotton and re-drip my juice, I always get dry hits. Do I have to wait a long time for the juice to absorb into the cotton? And when I re-drip do I mostly aim for the coils or the cotton? I'm a newbie! Thanks

When I put in new wicks I juice the heck out of the wicks and put enough in the drip well to make sure the wicks have something to pull from there. If I put a bit too much on the wick/coil it just takes a few drags until the excess juice is used up. This way I know I will not degrade the cotton the first few drags. By the time I have the driper juiced up I can immediately take a drag without getting a dry or burnt hit.
