I try to pulse my rsst coil on a natural. I gave up, id burn through 4 18350 trying to get the whole coil to glow. By the time i was done id have no batts to vape with.. have you tried oxidizing it with a flame? That worked well for me. Im still new at it too. I dont seem to get any vapor unless I use a fully charged batt at 1.3 ohms

The last previous attempt before this, i did oxidized the wick with my kitchen stove but i think i rolled the wick to tight and wasn't getting good wicking. It only took me a few minutes to get my coil to glow with the pulsing, i also tinkered the coil a bit with a screw driver. I wish i had a mech mod to try it on but from my previous attempt, my coil came out to be 2.0 ohm and someone on here said the evic wasn't strong enough to power it.

That was wrong. The EVIC (or any VV mod) should do great with 1.3 up to even 3 ohms. As a matter of fact, I think the EVIC cuts out with anything under 1.3; so you should shoot for 1.8 or so (just so you don't have VV safety cut-off as an added frustration) Do a 3/4 or 4/5 wrap, and stick with that until you get the bugs worked out; then you can mess with "preferences" later.

I Oxidize once, before rolling.

Weak vapor production on evenly glowing (when dry) coils can indicate a too loose of a wrap.

i will try it again tonight with a 3/4 wrap thanks.

What gauge wire are you using and how thick is your wick?

The RSST. Has a pretty big wick hole but that doesn't mean you have to fill the whole thing.
I don't have an eVic and I don't know it's output specs, so I'm kinda shooting off the cuff with a good starting point...

Roll a 2.25 - 2.5 mm wick and coil it with 4 wraps of 32 gauge Kanthal. That should put you in the 1.5 to 1.8 ohm range and the eVic shouldn't have a problem firing 32 awg wire.

As for the threading issue... I've heard it's a problem with the latest batches of the RSST. I've also heard that several vendors are offering to replace or refund the affected units. May be worth a call to your vendor.

ahh thanks, i will contact them tonight. Im using #500 SS mesh with 32 kanthal.

You should be good to go then. Just keep in mind than the thinner the wick the more turns you can add for a given resistance. Don't go too thin, the wick won't be able to keep up with coil...
The 2.25 to 2.5 mm seems to be good in my experience.

Also, search YouTube for videos on the "PetarK method" and/or "Drill bit method". It's super easy and can remove a great deal of frustration.

i just recoiled it right now and came out to 1.8ohm on my evic. I used my twist to pulse/adjust it but when i fill it with some juice, barely to no vapor at all. i actually wrapped it a little bit tighter this time so no loose wires.

Air hole size and location? Are you getting flavor; but not enough visible steam? (what's the air hole size on these, jasl?)

i haven't exactly used it with the cap on yet, ive been mainly firing it without the cap and comparing it to the the videos on youtube i watched. According to exhalevapor the air hole size is 1mm...its a bit tight for me, so ill probably have to drill it out when i get the replacement.

In some instances, steam isn't generated until cold (cooler) air is drawn across the vapor. Blow on it, gently, while you fire it; or, better yet, put the cap on and vape it. If there is a problem, the taste will be a good diagnostic indicator. (yep, 1mm is small. 1.2mm/3/64" is nice.) Also, the amount of steam you see is strongly dependent on juice. (I have one in particular that generates almost no steam in an otherwise functional atty.)

just vaped it a few time and im getting decent vapor now. I lined up the air hole with the wick and tilted it to about 20ish degree from almost being horizontal. : D thanks for all the help, getting close

I don't recall the stock air hole size. I think it's pretty small. I drilled mine to 1/16th almost immediately.
Little to no vapor with the cap off... 1 of 3 things...
1) Pure PG juice... It your juice is making vapor in other attys, it probably not the issue.
2) Not enough power. Try ramping up the watts. 32 awg wire is still thicker than your off the shelf attys and ss mesh sucks up more heat than silica. You'll need to use more watts than you're used to.
3) Poor wicking. If your coil is glowing red while juice is in the tank it's not wicking. If you're holding the PV vertically while you're test firing, that could be contributing...
I've also found that doing a couple of juice burns before installing the wick "primes the pump", so to speak..

If that doesn't help, I think we're going to need pics...

3/64" bits are smaller than most places carry. They are included the the Dremel drill bit set (avail at Lowes and Home Depot).
If you want just a single bit... Ace Hardware has then in the tap & die section... Just don't recall which number that is... They are sized by wire gauge not inches... Pdib, you know the number???

1)i tried to google this but no answer, its a eliqcube brand of ejuice i got for free from a friend, not my favorite so i figured i used it to test.
2)i currently have it set at 4.4volt on my twist.
3)i think you might be right, if i chain fire it 2-3 times, it the coil does turn red when im holding it vertically but if i hold it horizontally, it seems to be okay

i actually have 1/16, i will probably drill it to 1/16 instead.

A #56 bit, from Ace Hardware, is 1.18mm. It's the one I used.
