Ready to give this another try.....

Hello, ECF!

I figured I'd start here and see how it goes this time. My name is Joe and I'm not "new" to vaping, I'm actually coming back to give it another try. In 2009, I starting hearing about "e-cigs" and it sounded like it would be the perfect way for me to give up analogs. So, I did some research and decided to order one of the Mini starter kits that were so popular at the time (can't remember the make/model). Although I enjoyed vaping, there were several things about the device that ultimately had me sneaking analogs, and before long, back to a PAD. Things like poor vapor production, automatic cut off after a few seconds, terrible battery life...just to name a few.

I've been really wanting to try and give up analogs again, so I decided to poke around on ECF to see how things have come along...and boy have they come along! Looks like all of the things I didn't like about vaping have been addressed, in a little PV called the Ego.

So, I hope to order a starter kit tomorrow and get back on the vapor trail....hopefully to kick analogs for good this time!

Let me also mention that this forum seems to be one of the most supportive, helpful, knowledgeable groups of people on the net! Glad to be a part of it!

Joe

How much do you smoke, what kind, do you expect to vape a lot more than you smoked, and do you need exceptionally long battery life?

Most popular and supported slim type - and get MANUAL batteries for less work, more consistent drag, batteries better sealed against death by juice leak, won't turn on accidentally from wind or vibration

Joye 510 - about the size of a cig, 1.5-3 hour battery, more or less depending on amount vaped or 3-5 hour battery life with the long mega xl batteries which make it about 130mm long. PCCs (standard or mega) and blank cartomizers available, small selection of prefilled cartos

KR808D-1 (also sold in colors by Vapor4Life) - a 2-piece model, a bit fatter and and 120mm (longer than standard 510), 3-5 hours battery life, many prefilled cartos available at Vapor4Life, blanks also available

Regardless of what you get, you'll be refilling with ejuice

If you are a heavy smoker, hard dragger, need or want 6-8+ hour battery life, or just want a unit with the most options by far (like harder hitting low resistance parts, juice tanks etc) then skip the slimmer models and look at Ego and Riva 510

I'm gonna suggest that you get an eGo kit (or one of the clones like Riva 510) since you're already at a PAD. You've seen the problems with the ones that look like analogs. Liberty Flights generally has a good price on the Riva kits. I don't know if they have the "tank" system to that seems to have come out recently. (a lot of places carry them but are "out-of-stock" at the moment. With some good juice, and the tank system (atty, and tank cartridges) and a couple of "fat batteries", most of the hassle is gone.

After doing my homework, the Ego seems like it's exactly what I'm looking for. I don't mind getting my hands "dirty" to a point, but I don't have a lot of time to invest in modding, mixing, etc. Looking for a great "out of the box" experience to help me change my ways!

The 510 is similar to what I had last time, so I'm looking for something with a little more kick. As for the tank systems, not sure I need to go that far yet - the wife is already giving me a hard time about spending more money on vaping after the last failed attempt! Thanks for the support and advice. I'll update once I've got my new set up.

Thanks, emanguba, but right after I posted I saw another thread that said ivape.net had the eGo T for 59.95 (shipped for about $64) and I went ahead and pulled the trigger. The battery won't last as long, but it should work perfect for my needs.

Comes with the following:
Two (2) 650mAh Joye Ego T Batteries
One (1) USB eGo fast-charger
One (1) USB wall adapter
Five (5) Blank eGo T tank cartridges (some boxes contain up to seven)
Two (2) - Joye eGo T "Tankomizer" atomizers
One eGo carry pouch
Two eGo button protector clips
Box and instruction manual

Now to find some juice....

Sounds like a great order....you are going to be blown away. You sure came back at a great time....the tank system with the eGo batteries....it's almost a no fail if you really want to quit. You are going to be AMAZED at how nice these things are. There are hundreds of great juice vendors....go to the suppliers forum. I have used (and loved) freedomsmokeUSA, Gourmet Vapor, Vapor Bomb, and Vapor Renu. Others sing the praises of Backwoods Brew, but I haven't tried them. Gets lots of variety....there's no telling what you're going to love. Have fun. Welcome to ECF and welcome back to the wonderful world of vaping. Go visit the library and read the six part series stickied there.....you'll be amazed at all the changes.....

Hi. I'm another person who started in 2009 and failed. The biggest reason was cost... carts for the e-cig I bought were $20 for 5 (or was it ten?) and refilling voided the warranty. I started refilling anyway and within two weeks, managed to ruin one battery and the only atomizer that came with the kit. I think the atty replacement was $24.95, but I didn't bother getting one.

I bought an Ego about a month ago. I spent $90, about the same as my original e-cig, but instead of two batteries and one atty, I got two batteries, seven attys, 15 carts and 30ml of liquid. At that price (compared to analogs) I can tolerate replacing the parts as needed. And it's a lot better vaping than the first one.

So, I say go for it. It's a lot better in 2011.

Tnt - sounds like we're in similar situations. I'm determined this time and now that I can vape throughout the day without all the maintenance, I'm sure it'll turn out better.

JC - Responses like that make me feel better about my purchase. I spent a lot of time (maybe too much time) on here reading the threads about leaking, poor vapor, burnt taste, less flavor with the ego t, but it seems like there are about the same amount of overwhelmingly positive comments to balance it out. Can't wait to get started again...everything shipped today, so I hope I have everything by the weekend.

Got my Ego T today (thanks ivape.net! Ordered on 2/14 @ 10 PM, received today - 2/16) and I'm thoroughly enjoying it! Very easy to set up and it's vaping like a champ. It's a whole new experience compared to the last time I tried this. All the tricks/tips on her helped a lot.

Only problem is, I'm using some old (maybe too old!) JC liquid because my Halo Menthol hasn't shown up yet. Can't wait to fill up a new tank with some fresh juice and see how it goes.

Thanks again to everyone at ECF - It's only been 4 hrs since I smoked my last analog, but I'm determined it was my last!

Well, after my wife tried out the Ego T (she's also a smoker, although never as heavy as I was), she asked me to order one for her! So, I ordered her a starter kit and we hope it's in early next week. She never really got into the mini I had, but she saw how easy it was to use the tank and she's sold! Now to get my parents vaping....
