I've been vaping for a little over a week and I'm ready to take the plunge into RBA and mech mods. I have done a great deal of research, read up on battery safety and ohms law as well as watched countless videos on different mods, rbas and building coils. I'm still undecided but I have to pull the trigger on something lol.

What I'm considering:

Stingray x, stingray or turtleship mod
Kayfun lite v2
Good batteries, probably 18650
Ohm and voltage meter
Good charger

Am I missing anything? What are your opinions on those mods and how well they work with the kayfun? I read that the kayfun lite v2 has an adjustable airflow screw on the bottom, will that affect whether I can use it in hybrid mode? Last question, the kayfun comes with kanthal wire and silica wick. I don't know what guage the kanthal is. Should I grab any other kind of wick or wire? I'm not looking to do sub ohm right away but will probably look to do around 1.2

Grab you some organic cotton, and some spare kanthal. Kanthal can be found here http://www.temcoindustrialpower.com/search.html?t1=28 gauge Also you can get a nifty app for your phone, seach " Vapers Toolbox ", it's great to get a general idea of how many wraps around what diameter tool you're using. Other than those and some basic tools for wrapping: snips or clippers, good tweezers, precision screw driver set and a few dowels or drill bits. I think you're headed on the right path.

Note: Don't skimp out on the charger. I personally use a LUC 4 bay, but get the best of what you can afford.

Thanks. Is a RBA a better idea than getting something like a nautilus or protank? Basically, is there a huge difference in vapor and flavor? I might grab one anyway to use while I fool with my kayfun. I'm thinking about the nautilus mini bvc for wife. She's happy with a standard clearo and eGo batt but if the mini will give her more flavor and vapor, I'll get her a surprise!

I've never used either of those two tanks. Once I built my first coil on my first RDA it was all over. I've been a dripper only vaper since lol. I have messed with building the Fogger V4 and Kayfuns for friends, but I personally don't like them myself. I would grab both if I where you, you never know what you're going to like :D.

Kayfun style toppers are my favorite toppers. Easy to build, great flavor, little to no leaking.... I also like the Erlkonigin, which is another spin of a Kayfun style tank. It's lighter, can hold 6 ml, and you can choose between glass, plastic, or steel tanks in varying diameters. IBTanked even makes custom glass tubes that you can have painted for it. You can make it look good with practically anything.

Stingray x, stingray or turtleship mod

Take a look at the 20/30/50 watt VW mods. Safer, more consistent performance. I own a couple of mechs but much prefer my DNA30 cana mod.

Kayfun lite v2

Great choice

Good batteries, probably 18650

Think Sony, Samsung, Panasonic 20 Amp continuous or better

Ohm and voltage meter

Another reason to consider a VW mod. Still recommend a resistance box. I use mine for a build stand for my Kayfun 3.1

Good charger

Nitecore, Efest

Kanthal A1 wire. I use Temco 30 or 32 gauge

Sterile cotton from Wal-mart

Tweasers, wire cutters, 5/64" or 3/32" drill bit

I did not try Nautilus, but once I rewicked my Kangers they became a REALLY good vape! I'm waiting for an RDA right now, but I'll be using my Glass EVODs when out and about. Because they are smaller, don't leak, etc, they just work and make me a happy vaper.

Thanks so much for the replies! I have thought about vv/vw mods but they don't look as cool imo lol. I don't care for box mods but will probably get a vamo later on. Provari looks nice but a little too expensive for a first order. As far as a dripper, I do want one and might just grab one of those too. Any suggestions on a dripper? Thanks so much for helping me spend my $$$, my cousin warned me this would happen lol.

Are you going for clones then? A Provari is actually mid priced in the realm of authentic gear. Nothing wrong with clones in my opinion. One of my favorite set ups is a GP Paps clone paired with a Heron clone as a hybrid. It's a great vape, by the way, with a great switch, and it's compact because you don't need to use a top cap for the mechanical.

If you like the looks of a mechanical, yet you're ever interested in a VV/VM device, take a look at the Mark Bugs Wizard Apprentice Evolved. It's close to $300, but it looks great. I want it so bad I can taste it. I also have an Elcigart Lernaia Hydra and Zorbas. It's a mechanical mod that comes with an attachment that can be used on ANY mechanical mod attachment to turn it into a VW device that can go to 22 watts. I find I don't use the Zorbas much, but the Hydra is a beautiful mech with another awesome switch. I didn't think I'd ever be the type to be OCD over a button, but the Paps and the Hydra have spoiled me, and I hate locking rings like the Stingray and the Nemesis now!

Yes, I am going for clones to begin with. I'll buy some authentic mods later on, I just want to make sure that this is something I'm going to enjoy before I drop a few hundred dollars. Thanks so much for your help. I'm making an order on Thursday and hopefully will have everything by the following weekend so I can spend my days off tinkering
