Hi all!

I started vaping 2 weeks ago with an 84mm super-mini from Heaven Gifts (listed, I believe, as DSE8084 on the website). I have a half-full pack of Marlboros on my counter with a lighter right there next to it, and have not been tempted to pick them up yet!

I do like my super-mini, but now that I no longer feel the need for it to look and feel like an analog, I would like to get a device that requires less constant attention. I go through 3-4 fully charged batteries a day right now, and the tiny cartridges in this thing translate to about 3-4 carts a day as well. That's definitely a small price to pay to cut out all the tar and carcinogens I was sucking down before, but I know that a larger device would mean even less futzing around.

Right now I'm seriously considering the 801. It seems to fit my requirements, which are:

- Longer battery life
- Higher-capacity cartridges
- Readily available parts
- Good vapor production/throat hit/flavor
- Automatic switch
- Available with a blue LED

The first four are pretty self-explanatory. I want an automatic switch for easy one-handed operation. The last one is strictly due to the fact that I'm a self-proclaimed geek and we geeks have an unexplainable love for blue LEDs!

Seriously though, these are the things that are important to me, and the 801 seems to be a good fit right down the list. I do realize that increased vapor production means increased juice usage, so I might still go through the same number of carts even with the larger capacity.

My question is: is there another device you could recommend that fulfills these criteria better than the 801? You can even overlook the blue LED stipulation if that's the only thing this hypothetical alternate device lacks. I'm open to all suggestions!

Thanks for reading, and thanks in advance for your feedback. This place looks like a great community, and I'm excited to be a member. :)

you are faced with the same"decision" i was. Spend countless hours charging and switching batteries or finding a better solution. I can only tell you that 801's and 901's and 510's all have equal issues in regards to battery life. If you are using 4 batteries a day, get a"SERIOUS" vaporizer with sealed batteries. The Janty Stick is one i have used personally and is recommended by countless other's, and it will solve your battery issue completely and is smaller with an Auto switch option. After that you can get a GG, Zimoshi, or Screwdriver all well reviewed ,but bigger and no auto switch option. I myself chose a Prodigy(made in the USA), yet it is unreviewed and again no auto switch option. I have had great products and service from Puresmoker, so took I the "Plunge" sight unseen. Good luck whichever model you decide.

ado, I'm about in the same boat your in. I started vaping with a super mini a month ago. It has been sitting idle since I received my 901 from widowsbeadwork.com about two weeks ago.It has a fantastic draw and the two batteries last a whole eight hour shift at work.I love it but my next one will probably be a screwdriver, from what I gather they are the ultimate vaporizer. Good luck with whatever you choose!

Wow, thanks for the quick replies, good advice, and well wishes! So, what I'm gathering thus far is that if I want a really good battery, I'll basically have to go with a manual switch.

defnet0, I actually only go through about 2 batteries during a shift with my super-mini, so maybe I just use it less. If that's the case, I might be able to get through a shift with a 901 (or presumably an 801) with one battery, and another on-hand "just in case."

I have actually eyed up the Janty Stick, mostly due to its built-in passthrough feature... however, unless I'm mistaken it uses a firewire connection instead of USB. I'm guessing that's because firewire puts out more power than USB? Unfortunately I don't have a firewire port on any of my computers, so I'd also have to invest in a PCI firewire controller. I'm sure that's not very expensive, but it's still kind of a pain.

I've heard or read something about automatic 501 batteries being available, although I couldn't say where or in what context. If that's truly an option, would I be able to order a 501 with auto batteries and then later try out the manual without having to buy an entire kit to do so? That would be a great scenario for me. Even if the manual performs better, I don't know if I would prefer it over the automatic, and I'd much rather be potentially unhappy with a single part than an entire setup.

Again, thank you all for your input! You've already been very helpful.

Uses a standard Usb to mini Usb cord to charge or as a passthrough. Yet the 510's battery is poor compared to the the group i suggested. Its really your call, but with the others you could use two batteries ALL DAY, not just during 8 hours of work. If i misunderstood your question/situation I apologize. The Prodigy will have adapters for just about any device's atty/carts on the market within a month or two. Plus it will have the power of a passthrough with the supplied batteries. thats the main reason i chose it. I will be doing my first review, Sun or Monday on the Prodigy,so keep a look out

I definitely will keep an eye out for your review... I didn't realize that the Prodigy was so versatile! Pending your review (and depending on how much cash I have on hand when I decide to order) my choice might just be between the Janty Stick or the Prodigy. They're both very impressive-looking new products.

I'm going to do a shameless plug for the JantyStick. :D

The thing is SMALL. It is quite literally the most comfortable in my hand device that I own (and I own quite a few).

I'm a heavy vaper, and I'm getting through most of the day on one battery. I'm finding it comparable to the Screwdriver in terms of battery life.

Janty is coming out with adaptors for the 901 and 510 in the next several weeks. I am literally quivering with excitement thinking about a 510 atomizer in the stick. :hubba:

Initial reviews of the Jantystick are quite positive.

I expect the Prodigy will receive good reviews as well. I'll be curious to see how the Prodigy and the Jantystick perform head-to-head.

Hi JustJulie ... are you finding less flavor to be an issue with the Stick? I keep wanting to take the plunge and get one (I'm still on a supermini, too), but flavor is way at the top of the list for me, and I've read that people are getting less of it with the Stick. True?

I'm asking you because I remember reading how many PVs you have. :D

Which is your favorite for flavor?

TIA,
Treece (also from St. Louie)

Ahh, Treece, you're outing me with my 1,000+ models.

Yeah, I'm finding slightly less flavor with the Stick and the Janty atomizer, which is kind of surprising to me because I generally get very good flavor with my Kissbox (same atomizer as the stick). If I use a heavily flavored liquid, I'm fine, but more subtle flavors just aren't coming out. Like I said, I'm kind of surprised by that.

I figure I'll pick up the 901 and the 510 adaptors for the Stick, and I should be good to go. Honestly, I'm not a HUGE fan of the 801 other than the size of the cartridge.

In terms of FLAVOR alone, folks are going to laugh, but my personal favorite is my 901 atomizer. Pair a 901 atomizer with a Screwdriver for long battery life and a manual battery, and I'm in vaping heaven. I would assume it's the same for any of the mods that use a 901. :)

The offer to meet up at my local Starbucks in Wildwood is an open invitation. Then you could testdrive the Stick and the SD head-to-head. :D

I just might take you up on that Starbuck's offer, JJ ... but all I have to offer in return is a ... um ... PeeWee . (I'd pay for the coffee, though. ;))

Now I'm thinking I should just get a 901! On the other hand, I just ordered a ton of RN4081 passthroughs ... and they're great. Although my Kensington seems to be acting up.

Back and forth, back and forth, back and forth.

I'm also really curious about the Cameo. :w00t: And then there's the Prodigy to consider. :w00t: And the of course the SD.

Okay, I've hijacked enough of this thread.

Sorry....! Let us know what you decide on, OP!

If your budget is tight like mine you might want to check Best eCig, I received my E-cigarette-BE112 USB passthrough yesterday at a cost of $20.45.

I have no association with BES, just a satisfied customer.

The drawback is the shipping cost is high from China, but if you make the order bigger it is a great deal.

The BE112 seems to be equivalent to the 801 and produces great vapor. It's a pen style and is big. I'm liking it.

Well, it's been a lot longer than I would have liked since I started looking into upgrading... but I finally made my decision. I just placed an order on The Smoke Safe for a Yeti (510).

Price ended up being more of a factor than I thought it would be at first (hence why it's taken me so long to make the purchase) so the 510 seemed to be the way to go. The combination of good reviews and extremely affordable price (about 60 bucks after shipping for the starter kit) pretty much sealed the deal for me. I've also come around to the idea of a manual switch, so I'm glad I ended up mulling it over for a while.

Now comes the hardest part. Waiting for it to get here. ;)
