welcome to ECF. I smoked for 45 years. tried many times to quit with pills, gums, patches finally e-ciggs worked for me. I've been off tobacco for over 14 month. if your not able to quit cold turkey than use e-ciggs to cut back. every cigarette that you don't smoke is a victory. in time you may quit completely. try increasing the nicotine level in you e-juice to help fight off the cravings and best of luck. we are all pulling for you. and welcome to ECF hope you enjoy your stay here as much as I have

Welcome to ECF. You can do this.

What equipment are you using? What is the nicotine level you are using, and the pg/vg ratio of your eliquids? If you are constantly craving a cigarette, you may want to up your nicotine level and/or get yourself a more efficient setup, if you can afford to do so.

Don't be hard on yourself if you continue to smoke while transitioning. Go at your own pace. You know your body best. There is no right or wrong time frame for quitting smoking. Do what feels right for you.

We are here for moral support, and may be able to help you with any problems along the way. Don't be afraid to ask questions or post any issues that you may encounter. Members range from "been there from the start" to "I'm a newbie, but this is what worked for me".

Most of all, have FUN with your vape. Experiment as you can afford it. Relax, enjoy, and don't obsess about quitting smoking. That will come in its own time, when you are ready.

I was a 35 year smoker and tried different methods. My biggest concern was getting the same nic that cigs gave. I watched a couple of people that vaped and listened. One day I just decided. I bought some gear and tinkered with it and filled a tank. I did not vape it because I decided that today was my last day to smoke. I smoked before bed and went to sleep. The next morning I was off and I vaped when my body had an urge. After about 6 hours I got confidence. Never smoked again.

Even if I quit vaping, I will not get rid of my gear. Sometimes, I just NEED to go and relax. Vaping helps. I take minimal nic now and I sometimes forget. Sure there are some habits or ritual moments, but they are drifting. My doctor, and dentist, noticed positive changes, and so have I.

It is a good deal where other THR products failed. It has been 2+ years and, yes, money, but very well spent. Life is good.

I just followed my urges and got spares. No way was I going to feel the need to bum a cig.

Good luck!

Hi and welcome. We are in your corner, and we know you can do it. We did :) However, in addition to the desire to quit-- that's the most important ingredient-- you also need gear and juice that works for you. If there is some confusion in your mind as to what to get and how to use it, we are here to help. Just for starters, if you haven't already bought gear, the rig I recommend for new quitters is an iStick30 mod with an Aspire Nautilus tank. Doesn't matter if you've gotten something else, it may work for you. I have just had good luck coaching people through on that gear. For juice, if you were over 2 packs a day, I'd start in the 24mg range; 1.5 PAD, 18mg; PAD or less, 12mg. Going to a vape shop with a tasting bar will let you try different juices to find a flavor you like, which is also a requirement. If you can't stand your juice, you won't use it. Quitting is a process, not like flipping a switch, and there are always bumps on the road. Keep coming back and talking to us and we'll help you over them.

Welcome back! You got this! I never thought I would be able to stop a 35 year habit. I am so grateful to vaping, it is the ONLY thing that has worked for me. The more I vaped the craving for a cigarette just seemed to drop off. Plenty of support here, and great people too. :)

Hiya @black rose.

Every one of us is different, and no two vape journies are the same. A lot of us were dual vaper/smokers before finally quitting cigarettes.

I picked up a cigalike kit in 2010. Wasn't until 2014 before I completely transitioned. My "good" gear was an ego twist and an EVOD tank!!!!

Gear choices can be overwhelming these days. Best suggestion I can offer is a mod that is versatile and a couple kinda of toppers with different characteristics until you dial in on what works for you.

Ask questions. Lots of smart people here to help

Good luck!

Hi and welcome. This is a great place to get support, and if you have any questions you'll have no trouble getting the answers you need. I'm sure there are many people here who have been where you are, I've "fallen off the wagon" as it were recently myself, and what I've come to realize is that slipping back into smoking isn't a set back, it's just a step on the journey. We don't all start vaping and immediately quit smoking for good. Some people have that experience, but others of us take more time.

I am using istick 30 Watt with a Aspire Nautilus tank..filled with 16mg 50/50 pg/vg.Thankyou so much for the support :)
An excellent choice, @black rose I'm sure it will work for you. If you struggle giving up the sticks immediately, no worries. Practically everybody does. The hardest ones to beat are first one in the morning, and after eating or while drinking. It's not a failure if you can't beat those right off. There's no shame in dual using for a while. Count the cigs you don't smoke as a victory, not the ones you do as a loss. Keep us posted on your progress, and sing out-- quickly!-- when you hit problems. There are always problems, but somebody around here knows how to fix it, even if I don't. You're on your way! Well done.

you have got great kit - this is the combo that really worked for me - just keep a supply of coils ( I never go out without a spare one with me) and maybe a spare glass insert).

The recommendation for a spare glass comes about because as has been truly said that first smoke in the morning can be the worst one you miss - over eager to fill my vape one morning I found the coil had stuck to the chimney, tried to shift it with e liquid on my fingers, tank flew out my hand and the glass broke when it hit the tiled floor.

No vape for me til the first bus down to Fuengirola in the morning!

My first rig after switching from the Cig-A-Likes is an iStick TC40W and the Nautilus Mini. Small enough and powerful enough for what I am looking for in my Vaping. Since I switched to a MOD I immediately lowered Nicotine content by half and having the adjustable wattage / airflow allows the control I like. I will say I am going through a bit more of the e-Liquid than I normally was using. New toy or that I cut the Nicotine?
