ready to upgrade to variable voltage. advice?

So I have been vaping for a while now and I'm really sick of going through tanks and batteries every few months. I finally upgraded to a pro tank last month. SO glad I did. I love it and now I'm thinking I want to get into variable voltage batteries. Seems like its the next step up. I'm not made of money so I have been looking specifically at the 1300mAh Vision spinners. My question is, what are the do's and dont's with these batteries? Is there anything that will ruin them? What ohms should I use with my coils? right now I'm vaping a 2.5 in my pro tank but I usually like the 1.8's. I think I understand the whole ohm thing for the most part. the lower the resistance, the more electricity flows through, heating the battery faster, causing the hit to be warmer while also draining your battery faster. am I right? SO my question is, how would that work out on a variable voltage. If I vape at too high a voltage will it burn out my coil or ruin the battery? any tips or advice you can give me will be greatly appreciated. I want to know all that I can before I order my new batteries :) thanks

-Heat and the discharge cycles will greatly effect your battery life.
-Resistance is really preference. A lot of regulated mods won't work with a coil less than 1.2 Ohm's. I use 2 Ohm cartomizers, but I like to go lower with RBA's. You are right about lower resistance. The same voltage will create a higher current with a lower resistance.
-If you vape at too high of a voltage, you will know before you burn out your coil. A good place to start is doubling the resistance value for your voltage, and you can adjust accordingly to your preference.

-Learn Ohm's law. It's not necessary, but I highly suggest it.

What kind of PV are you getting?

Ir 1.8s are fine i use 2.0
Start on lowest voltage and move up a notch till ur happy, if it tastes burnt turn it down a bit.
I dont think i usually go above 4.5
I like lower voltage but thru out my vape i sometimes change it.
Right now im using my iclear16 at 3.4 bit after a few hits ill most likely turn it up a few notches.
Also i vape menthols so it really matters what juice your vaping as well.

I have a 1300 spinner, less than a week old. Id say it lasts me about a day and a half.

Im stillmexperimenting with tanks and ohms that i like, have a variety i cycle through.
The cool thing about the vv is if it tastes burnt turn it voltage down a bit.
Im finding i dont have to top off my clearos as much, when they are low i turn it down a bit.

But im still learning too

Welcome Noley!!!
The first PV I bought was a Joyetech 1100 maH eGo Twist. I'm still using it. I use it with a mini Protank 2. I use either 1.8 or 2.2 ohm heads and both work just fine. You'll know if you're at a too high voltage as it will taste burnt. I still use the same PV daily and I haven't seen any degradation of the device. It's nice to have an understanding of Ohm's law but not necessary for a spinner. Just don't rebuild sub-ohm coils and you'll be fine.

Thanks guys! this is all very helpful. Im not looking to get anything too fancy to start off with. which is why I was looking at the vision spinners. I like that they are eGo style and portable. I looked a little bit at some of the bigger fancier batteries but they look pretty intimidating to me at this point, not to mention that they are out of my price range right now. I figure I should get the hang of it first before moving up to the really fancy ones :)

I would recommend a spinner or a vv ego device but then in a few months time yu will probably want to upgrade again. I suggest you look into the Sid by smoktek it's a really great vv device at a great price I'm like you on a budget and can't afford a provari.

I can't say much on vv ego devices because I skipped that step and went with a zmax I just didn't wanna get a ego vv device and then want to upgrade again.

I started off with a 900mah VV eGo Twist. Quickly had to get a second one. Vape one while I charged the other. I Vape a lot. I need to to avoid analogs.
In less than 2 months the Twists started to not hold their charge as well. It eventually got so bad that I was short charging the batts just to keep Vaping.
The 110mah batts that you want to get will probably last longer. But eventually they will begin to fade too.

My advice really depends on why you Vape and how much you Vape.

If you Vape a lot, and you have a budget for it, I suggest you go for a larger VV device that takes the flashlight style batteries. They last longer and charge much faster.

Also, because of the better batteries, you will notice a better Vaping experience. More even. More adjustable.

You can get into one of the bigger mods complete with 2 batts and charger for around $150 if you shop well.

I bought a used Provari Mini, 2 batts and a charger for $150. That's about half price for a Provari set up.

Search the forums for Provari, Evic, SID, etc. then make you decision based on your needs, wants and budget.

Good luck!

I would say the mvp is a excellent choice.

I been using an iTaste MVP for about 6mo. and has been my main Mod. There is a release of the iTaste MVP 2.0 which is a Variable Voltage, Variable Wattage and Resistance checker i think. U might want to look into the MVP's.

Noley49,

Getting a top notch vape on a budget can be difficult. It not only depends on the device providing the current, but on what type of carto, tank, or atomizer you have on the top. For the budget minded, what you have is probably the least expensive VV. The next move up for me was the Vamo Stainless Steel V2 which was about $30 and carto tanks, the Artemas Tanks for $8.49 each plus tank cartos at $1.50 each. I have had my Vamo V2 for a year without any problems to speak of, and just ordered the Version 5 for $50.00 as a backup. Someday I will most likely move to the ProVari which is considered by many as an excellent VV device, but you are still on a budget so that may be out of the question. My advice to everyone starting out or experienced is to read, read, and read some more before you spend, spend, spend. There are advantages and disadvantages to almost every type of device and if the ultimate vaping machine is ever developed they will sell millions.

Best Wishes

Just done the same thing myself. Started on eGo 1100ohm clone, but both died within 3 weeks. Had vision spinner 1300ohm for about a week. Loving it, great quality product and varying the voltage is easy. I found this chart below invaluable to get to know what voltage to set with which resistance.

I suggest getting something regulated, that way the last hit is the same as the first. I skipped from Blu's to a couple Provaris in a month's time. Find what fits your budget, have backups, and vape away...

I see the Provari Mini starter is $210 (not $300) on the Provape page, and that's including a Protank2, two batteries, charger, and probably an e-juice sample (that's what I got with my full-size starter). You're getting a year warranty as well for buying new.

I agree with the above. The Spinner will do good by you for now...but do look into a device with removable rechargeable batteries. I also recommend the Smoktech SiD ...especially if you are on a budget. It's variable voltage and wattage...you can set it to whichever you want. Reads the ohm resistance, and lets you know how low your battery charge is (battery meter). Looks good, too! BEST of all...it's modular! You can buy a "control head" (the brains of the mod) for about $35. For an additional $9 you can get a tube that matches that will hold a 18350 battery (and those 18350 batteries are pretty inexpensive). Then if you want to change things up later...you can buy different sized tubes, or switch out and use Evic tubes ..or whatever. Switch up colors and make up your own style. Pretty nifty.

But for now...I've heard the Spinners are very good and reliable. Good luck!
