Two weeks ago, I had never even heard of vaping or e-cigarettes. I'm a 41 year old, single dad with three six year old kids. We live on a cattle ranch in the middle of nowhere. Once upon a time, I was an electrical engineer with a major telecom, but I got tired of the corporate world and decided I preferred dealing with cattle instead. I enjoy an occasional cigar on the porch after the kids go to bed, but I've never touched a cigarette in my life.

Anyway, I was wandering around YouTube one night and somehow stumbled across a video by Pbusardo. Then I watched about a dozen more of his vids. Shortly afterward, I discovered this forum. I decided the gadgets looked cool and ordered a VV3 and MVP 2.0, along with a few different flavors from Mt. Baker. Seemed like a cheap and easy way to see if I enjoyed vaping. I got the devices Thursday afternoon. Love the MVP and iClear30 experience, but the VV is too small for my hands. It feels like I'm holding a soda straw. Seems to work great, though.

This morning, I found out there was a vapor shop about 40 miles from the house, so I went there and ended up with a Kayfun clone along with a dozen new flavors. Pulled out my old test kits and built a coil in about 5 minutes. Really enjoyed "playing with electricity" again and the results are fantastic. Plus, I can use them indoors without the lingering odor of tobacco on clothes/furniture.

I don't even care about the nicotine. I've ordered most of my juices without it. I just like the flavors and the "ritual." Instead of absently sipping a Coke or bottle of water while watching TV at night, I just puff away without blandness of water or the sugar or calories of a soda. I'm 6'11", 260lbs...I don't need to add any more mass to this frame! Although I have found that the "Vanilla Ice Cream" juice from Mt. Baker really goes well with a glass of Zaya rum. :D

So within 14 days, I went from not knowing this hobby existed to owning (or waiting for):

Four mods:
MVP (Really like it)
VV (Works just as well as the MVP, but too small for me)
Nemesis (Appeals to my engineering side)
Provari (Seems to be the device of choice for many)

And a plethora of tanks/clearo/carto:
iClear 30
iClear 16 (x 5)
hCigar Kayfun clone
IBTanked (x2)
Protank Mini
Nautilus

And a truckload of liquids from all over. I'm not saving any money, but I'm having fun. Anyway, if anyone is still reading this novel, thanks to all the members here to share their knowledge and experience. I really helps newbies like me.

Welcome! I also came to vaping very recently as a non-smoker, though I did smoke for 17 years and quit 14 years ago this April. I love it, and went from eGo Twist to Provari in one week. Now between the two of us we own 3 Provaris, 3 IGO-Ws, a Forge clone, a Kayfun 3.1 clone, an AGA-T2, and an Aerotank, and have 2 Kraken clones, 2 Aspire Nautiluses, and a couple more drippers on the way. Although I never made a career of it I did have a couple of years of electronics engineering in college a couple of decades ago and that helped me jump right into coil building. My boyfriend and I are also really enjoying this new hobby - everything we loved about smoking without all the bad stuff, and the tinkering is fun too. Welcome aboard. :)

This industry could use lots of engineering input; this hobby of yours might turns into something more.

And if the Nemisis appeals to your engineering side, get a load of the Itaste 134!

I think that's partly what got me into vaping. I'm a qualified, but inexperienced electrician, not manage to find any work in the field, so I'm working in a warehouse for the time being. Even though all I deal with is pretty simple compared with all I've learnt, I find coil building and the ohms law calculations are great for keeping my brain active and keeping my hands busy! Plus, anything to keep me off the analogues, as they say.

Welcome to the forum. What a delightful post! Sounds like you now have your life set up just the way you want it!

THREE six year old kids and a bunch of cows - who could ask for anything more?:)

I'm still wondering whether that triplets or he went on a wild vacation 6 years ago! :) :)

That's a huge mod, but at 6'11" (!!!) He could make it look tiny.

Hey, SpookyDriver, welcome to the forum. It's a fun and informative place to hang out. Glad you're enjoying vaping, and thanks for sharing your interesting story. I really enjoyed hearing about your significant lifestyle change - kudos to you for having the courage to do that!

This is another long story...somewhat related to the issue above. But basically, I got burned out and needed a change. I grew up on a farm and this opportunity came along at the right time. It's worked out pretty well for us, all things considered.

Welcome and thanks for sharing a great story.
Your engineering mind will have plenty to tinker with. I caught myself looking for nearest CNC shop. :D
Fun to be in something that is still pretty raw and have lots of room to grow.
I am sure you ran across this already, but in case you haven't seen this yet. Something that could push the tinkering to next level.
