Hey guys,

So I purchased one of the oddy clones (terminator-c) and have been putting it through it's paces for the last few days. I am able to get a functioning coil (I am using either 28 guage kanthal or 32 guage(?). The problem is that this thing is giving me heinous throat hit and not much vapor. I don't think it's flooded (no gurgling) and I can't figure out if these attys just funcion that way or if I;m doing something wrong. By the way, I am using a lower than normal nic juice (12mg as opposed to my usual 18 mg.) Do you guys have any siggestions?

Hotspots, dry wick, wrong volage, watts. Hard to say. Did you tke proper steps setting up the coil/wick? The coil/wick would be my guess. Pg/Vg ratio? V/watts? Give some more detailed inf & someone can better help you. Good luck.

I'm having similar difficulties... I have a 2.2 ohm coil that I can't turn up beyond 4.4 because I get dry hits. Can't seem to make this clone give vapor. In general, is it bad to tightly wrap the coil around wick? Or should it be sorta loos like on a Genesis style? I assumed I didn't have to worry about hot spots so I just wrapped pretty tight. Is that bad or? I'm using 2 strands of unknown thickness silica. I think it's about 2mm but I have some actual 2mm that is in the mail on the way to me.

dont know to much on these devices, but i had a penelope at one time. if it has the same principles, i remember that if any of the wires touched any part of the inside of the device, it kind of over heated and didnt produce that much vapor. i would really check all the placements of the wires for clearances where they may come into possible contact with the innerd shell.

On the Ody/Term the air supply comes from the 510 connection, like stock atties/cartos. No air hole to line up. You said you were wrapping the coils per Scott's vid, so I assume you are using both nr and res wire. If you are only using kanthal then that's probly your problem. The res wire will heat up all the way down the sides (legs), making everything too hot.

I find you really never want a coil wrapped too tightly on a wick, no matter what type of rba you use. It does help with this style to add some extra wick at the coil to hold juice over the cup, again same way that it's done in scott's vid with the "bowtie" in the coils over the cup. I use cotton, but same principle with silica. I use a 1/8" drill bit, wrap my coil, feed the wicks through at the same time, not too tight though because the wick will expand and then dig too much into the coil. Wth 2mm silica though you may want a larger coil to make room for both pieces of wick. If the coil is too tight, pull out some strands or start over.

I hated tanks and only ever dripped until I got my hands on a terminator. Now that I have it my drip atties sit lonely in my vape kit. It's a really great device, but like everything else in the realm of rba's, practice and personal preference to come largely into play.

Hey Cjax, thanks for the reply. I am using nr wire and two pieces of wicking. What does it feel like when a wick is wrapped too tight? I mean, does the vape taste dry/burnt or are there other symptoms? Mine does not taste burnt, it feels like it has juice but the throat hit is ridiculous. I generally use cartos in a tank (at around 11 watts) and I have never had throathit that is legitmately painful.

The fact that you couldn't make it work with 32g wire means your are doing something wrong. I am assuming you're using a mechanical mod....so you are vaping it at around 15 watts with a 1ohm coil. But even then it should have a lot of throat hit but not a painful one. It is either you're not getting enough juice to the coil...so you are getting dry hits or you have a short somewhere. Are you sure you have NR wire and not something else? Can you check the resistance of the NR wire and make sure it is NR wire? Does the device produce a lot of vapor when the top cap/juice flow regulator isn't installed? Just drip some juice on the exposed wick and see if it producing a lot of vapor. After this make sure you have no shorts in the system....no glowing coils.
