Is re building coils the only way to get coils that are under 2.0 ohms? The only ones I see in the stores are 2.0 and up but I see a lot of people rebuilding their own to get them between 1.6 and 1.8 or so.......also what is the difference between a coil and a micro coil?

I know Kanger makes 1.8ohm replacement heads for their stuff , a microcoil is wrapped and compressed so that all the wraps are touching each other forming almost a solid tube of wire , it still falls under the definition of a coil though , all microcoils are coils , not all coils are microcoils though . :)

Ok so if im using a protank 1 or 2 when I start rebuilding coils I can start doing 1.6 to 1.8 right instead of buying these 2.0 or higher ones and it will be better?

Resistance winds up being a matter of personal preference as in general lower resistance gives a warmer vape , whether it's better or not depends on what you like , if you're gonna start rebuilding you might as well get an RBA . They're a lot easier to build than those tiny protank heads .

Depends as well on your device - if you are using say, an Ego device then you will have to stay above 1.2Ω, else it will detect your coil as shorted and not fire it.

That kind of level is typical of a lot of regulated devices, and so you build higher resistance coils and whack the power up instead. <~~~not a very scientific analysis, but that's the nub of it!

Leaps and bounds better, especially when wicked with cotton! I find rebuilding Kanger coils super easy. It takes a little bit of practice but it is definitely the way to go. I have an Evod, Mini PT2, PT2 and an Aerotank and I rebuild them all. the trickiest is turning the Dual Aero coils into single microcoils. Click on the blue "2" next to blog entries under my avatar to see a two part tutorial on how I rebuild duals into singles.

Ok another question just came up, I was looking for 32 guage kanthal resistance wire online and there also another thing that I don't know exactly......I can find the 32 guage but theres also a "width" like •

•32 AWG- 1.091 Ohms/in, 0.0080 Diameter (in.) and there are different diameters

How do I know which to get? I want to rebuild the protanks so I can get between 1.5 and 2.2 ohms

other choices include 'flat ribbon wire' , but most use round

just get the 32ga Kanthal A-1

    - Kanthal A1 Resistance Wire - Lightning Vapes

    also 30ga & 28ga (you'll wish ya did at a later time, it's cheap)

    :)

yepper, you can use 32 for all if you like
it works fine (what I like)
but as you say Kayfun you might want 30 or even 28ga

IMO, the heavier wire (30, 28) requires more power (battery life) to heat

and the bigger wire makes it kinda tuff to build a coil small enuff to
fit INSIDE the base of the bcc and achieve the Ω you desire...

like I said get a selection and YOU make the decision (32&30)
    it's so damn cheap why wouldn't you ($3 / 50')

    :)

Ya, I think I will so I will find what I like......thank you so much

I used to think I liked 30ga, but as it turns out I favor 32ga more

32 just heats faster, crisper, plus seems to allow better battery life IMO

I use eGos and MVP, so if you have a hot high powered device

I can see where heavier gauge wire is needed/desired (kayfun + vamo, zmax, hana 30, etc)
