Decided to try some coil building on my mini pro tank 2. Not going well every time I build one no matter how I do it g get an ohm heading that is too low for my batteries of about 1.4. I am testing them on my pass thru as not to ruin my batteries as have already killed one. I am using 30 gauge kathal wire. Any help appreciated. Tried making them with 1 1.5 and 2 mm coils and with 4 up to 8 coils and they are not shorting. Some of them fire up for a second on the pass thru then they stop if I press the button again it does the same on for a second then stops again. Help please it's driving me insane. Must of tried 20 different permutations. Thanks.

When I make coils for my evods I use 8-10 wraps of 0.25 mm A1 Kanthal (don't know the diameter of the screwdriver I coil them on) and they come out around 2 ohms. You're probably not using enough wraps is my suggestion..
30 gauge is 0.25mm?
That's my choice of wire for most things.
If you wrap around something 2mm or more (I use 2mm bits) and add another wrap or two, you'll find it hard to make anything under 1.5ohms.

They are spot on, I agree.
I use them, and also make my own. Anything to keep my tanks up and running.
Never bout coils from FT or anywhere else to be honest after about 2 weeks of vaping as I found quality control to be very poor especially with coils. Was having no end of problems with flooding on my battery, gurgling and dry hits.
Now I build all my own coils and just got into building them vertical as well as everyone seems to rate the BVC from aspire.
No flooding/gurgling or dry hits. Takes all of about 10 minutes to build a nice new shiny vertical coil for my EMOW Mega and it vapes like a champ. 1.3ohm coil at 12 watts on my iStick with my 50/50 plum fresh from LTecigs and I am in vape heaven
I'm a big girl's blouse, use Fasttech's pre-made 1.5ohm coils. They're No Resistance - Resistance - No Resistance wire, so no problem with hot legs (oo-er).
Stealthvape do pre-made as well.
Two pounds a metre sounds a bit steep. Are you sure it's Kanthal? I bought G-Plat thinking it was a brand of Kanthal (it's wire, innit?) a while back, gave me an involuntary sub-ohming experience I wasn't expecting.

what do you use to wrap the coils and shape them how you want em to be vert, also what wicking material you using and how do you apply it? i have tried a few vert coils but to no avail, i've tried with cotton and with silica wick and only been close once with the cotton but after a few hits it started flooding, have seen a vid on the tube of a guy that uses a mandrel but i can't find a mandrel like the one he uses, any advice/help appreciated, i also have a nautilus mini and the stock BVC in that is awesome, same coil in for 3 weeks, no burnt hits, no flooding just pure flavour and vapour
Here is a thread I done on how to build a vertical coil in the new enclosed kanger heads but you can use the same method with the older style coils that have the wick poking out the side.

top man cheers buddy, i have stacks of the older style ones but will get some newer style ones too and have a go with them, great write up, cheers for the link, have it bookmarked for future reference
Depending on your tanks the new enclosed coils may not fit but you can do the same with the older heads/tanks it is easier with the older style as the top chimney comes off easier.
ok cool, i have an aerotank taking standard duals and a davide mini that takes the kanger singles, i did see in your post that you said it was harder to get the new style tops off just thought they would be better at keeping juice from leaking when using cotton as theres no holes missing the wicking, having said that it occurs to me that they will be dual coils so the way the juice is soaked will be different therefore no issues lol, cheers again
