Sorry for posting this here but its my 5th post :) Iv been having issues with my coils turning red within 20 hits. It turns the juice red and hits are very weak with a 1.3 ohm coil. I think whats going on is with the way the wicks are built in the protank I think my coil is too close to the top piece and is shorting, but my evic does not say its shorted and why are they turning red when im vaping clear juice any ideas?

Hi Bert and welcome to ECF!

how much experience do you have with rebuilding? Have you watched all those YouTube videos? Sorry to ask but i don't know if i'm talking to a novice or to someone with some knowledge on the subject...

That said, you should be able to post in the Rebuildables subforum soon--the forum updates at 25 min past the hour--and I think you'll get better answers from our experts over there.

What voltage are you running that at? Even a stock 1.8 ohm coil can start "burning" liquids and gunk up the coil and wick in short order if you run it above 3.2 volts when the coil is new. If you are running the coil too hot no wick can keep up with it - cotton or silica - everything gunks and you end up with discolored liquid.

They worked great until recently thats whats throwing me off. Iv tried them on my evic at 3.3 to 3.7 all make them turn colors and also 3.7 on a mechanical mod with same results. Iv rebuilt for a couple months now for myself and two others on several different tanks top fed and bottom fed. Im no pro but iv got a little know how. Using 100% cotton and 30 gauge kanthal.
