Hello, all.

I've been analog free for 48 days and enjoying my transition into vapor.

I use the smok SID which has the following limitations:

4 Amperage output limit
Voltage Control Range: 3.0--6.0 V
Wattage Control Range: 3.0--15.0 watts

I'm finding it to generally meet my needs and I'm looking now to maximize its potential.

I've been using coils ranging from 1.8-3 ohm and I'm finding that 2.3 area to work really well for me.

I also am usually between 3.5-4.5 volts, aiming to keep wattage between 5.5 and 8, depending on juice.

I've watched a few videos on rebuilding these replaceable heads and I'm considering getting some supplies.

I'm thinking of starting with 30ga wire and that's all I know for now. (more learning to do)

My questions are:

What level of change should I expect in flavor? power consumption? Other considerations?

Thanks!

Jay

If your talking about the Kanger coils. They can be rebuilt. although a bit of a pain for the first few. I used to rebuild them with 30 ga. Kanthal and wick with organic cotton.
I found around 1.5 to 1.6 ohms to have a nice improvement to flavor. Although I think it the cotton not so much the coil.
Please tell us more on the coil.

I'm using the SMOK single bottom coils, which seem to be near identical to the Kanger ones. I've watched a few videos and the process seems straight forward.

The implication I got was that replacing the sloppily installed mediocre materials with carefully installed higher quality materials brought performance up a notch.

I guess I'm just curious to see how much different/better it can be. Kind of a pre-commitment "cost benefit analysis, to steal a political term.

I'm thinking 30ga compressed coil with higher end wick might blow away the wimpy factory coil in taste and production.

My logical next question- Should my 4amp 15watt device have any problem driving that type of build, kept in the 2.3-ish ohm range?

Cost for me was 5 bucks for the bag of cotton which I am still using. Wire was 6 bucks which I still have a bunch of. I was running 1.5 ohm coils on my MVP 2.0 which max out at 10 watts or 5 volts

Battery drain | Steam Engine | free vaping calculators

use the battery preset, input your ohm and it will give you the answer. I do not know which 18650 you have in your mod.

As for taste and performance I like the ones i built a lot better.
Not enough to keep doing it and went to a Aqua v2 and my backup Nautilus Mini.
