Mine was around 2 weeks ago.

I wouldnt worry too much about too long ago, one because it seems like an outbreak that just started around a month back, and two even if you find them now the bank wont help you after 60 days since date of transaction. So i just check the last 2 months, and chalk anything else up to ignorance is bliss. Lol

Welp,Im thoroughly HORRIFIED for everyone that has gotten hit.I am so so sorry you guys,no matter whether the bank takes care of everything or not,it still feels extremely violating to have something like this happen to you!

Thanking my intuition profusely,Ive been going to several of these sites for over a week now, adding stuff to carts, checking prices, rechecking and comparing etc.I never input any CC info into them thank God-every day something kept telling me to wait just a lil bit longer,or that I needed to research just a tiny bit more before I actually ordered from everyone this week etc.Had I not listened to that gut feeling Im sure I would have been hit bad.Not trying to imply that everyone else DIDNT listen to their gut feelings, btw!

BTW,to the people that are talking about the prepaid walmart visa cards - are you talking about the cards that are popular at Christmas, like the Vanilla card, etc? Ive had two Visa cards from Walmart (NOT Bluebird btw) one was Vanilla and one was just like it,I cant remember the name right now.Anyways,I was able to use them at many places IRL,but twice I tried to use these cards online and got charged for the item, but then it never showed a confirmation, never showed that I ordered the item,nada- but there was obviously a transaction bc $100 or whatever would be gone from that account, just POOF! One time it happened when I ordered something from WALMART.COM!! So if there are two different types of prepaid Visa's,Id def not go with the Vanilla or ones like it if possible, because neither Walmart nor the Vanilla company nor Visa would take blame or sort out the problem,NONE of them would help me after I tried desperately for several wks to find a solution, and I ended up being SOL I and out quite a bit of money both times!

There is a walmart Mastercard you get then go online and register it and they send you one with your info on it. There is a 3.00 monthly fee and can set it up where you can load it from your bank account online instantly up to 200.00 for 2.95 per time. This is what we do even for eating out at restaurants and have been pleased with it. We went this way after getting hit 3 seperate times. So the most we could ever loose would be 200.00 but we do not let that much just sit around on it....

I generally use ShopSafe on the Bank of America site where I can look at my credit card balances etc. I do have daily email alerts just to remind myself what and where I've been spending lol.
Regarding this latest scam going on, my card was cancelled a few weeks ago and they sent me a new card simply because they were alerted that there was a possibility of a compromise from "an undisclosed online vendor" . They took no chances and probably did this to thousands of people who may or may not have been shopping online that day, or that week.

shop Safe is a one-time use generated number where you put the amount $$ you want on there right before you are about to place you order with the merchant. Did Bank of America think that ShopSafe numbers could in fact be traced to the actual credit card number and therefore they closed my account? or, did they do it because they weren't sure if I was using ShopSafe or giving out my actual credit card number?

I use that card for "auto" payments on my car insurance and home owners...when the payment is due they send me an email and take the money from the credit card. Now I have to rethink it. I'm not going to let them keep the number on file for auto payements. I'll just have to make my payments the old fashioned way lol.

Now that I think about it, PayPal and Amazon have one of my credit card numbers "on file."

Now I'm worried, yet again, about all my credit cards.

It is an inconvenience when we have to wait a week or more for a new card to arrive in the mail, not to mention the anxiety of it. I'm glad that credit card companies have fraud alert departments, however.

Thanks for mentioning this. I use BofA and didn't even know about ShopSafe. I'll be signing up for it - as soon as I get my new credit card.

Im getting shopsafe as soon as my new CC arrives.

Whats so infuriating about this is that it locked up both of my online paying methods, right on the very day i need to pay for 2 CoOps. If i ever see those a******* who did this....

Is it possible that the vendor's sites were compromised? For instance, could a hacker install some kind of keylogger on their page that followed you through the checkout process?

Yes, but specifically the was a recent rash of Java vulnerabilities that affected the server end, not the end user. I doubt this was caused by that, but you never know.

Hey guys, just a heads up. I was the victim of Online Credit Card Fraud from an online transaction this weekend.

Same happened to me: Placed three orders to ReosMods.com, ElectronicStix.com & Vapage.com on the 3/13 - next day the bank called and said they suspected suspicious behavior and sure enough, multiple fraudulent charges with my card number. Card was cancelled and now I can't order any stuff until the new one shows up....<sigh> Good thing I got new toys ordered before they cancelled my card. :)

I just posted in a different thread also discussing this issue.
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...close-eye-your-credit-card-statements-18.html

I too use BOA shopsafe. And I have never ordered from AVE. Last week BOA notified me my CC was compromised and had blocked the card and was sending a new one. The strange thing about all this is I ALWAYS use shopsafe for online orders. I wonder "why" they would have to cancel "my" card since I was using a pseudo CC number via shopsafe and not my real one? My card should not have had to have been canceled if it was an ecig vendor that caused the issue since they never had my real number.

I do use this card at gas pumps, doctor office, etc. so there may be a connection there. I'm thinking like some others that it is upstream processors having an issue. Maybe the problem is so pronounced with ecig vendors because of the number of orders we place over a month or so. Especially at this time with all the FDA paranoia, etc.

Ok guys. I am really sorry that your CCs were compromised. But i tried to warn both the vendor & others.

Back in June of 2012 (yes. 9 months ago), I started a thread on the Alien Visions subforum here at ECF about a "drive by virus warning " I got from my virus protection software. My post was ignored and/or not taken seriously & dismissed by others. I'm pretty darn miffed if you really want to know. (Rant)

Kindly read the thread. You may find it interesting. Any IT guys out there care to comment?
