Haha, you all are too awesome! I shouldn't expect anything else from ECF folks. I really want to try sub ohm, but have no clue where to begin. I am sure somewhere on here there's a thread explaining a total vanilla, default set up that will work for sub ohm. I feel like I did all those years ago, and the need to research like crazy LOL! And then there's the warning about potential bad stuff being generated with the higher coil temperatures, etc. I am totally lost.

Thanks for all the great comments. The strange thing is that the time slipped by so fast :( I just can't believe it.

In the end, I really do want to try the new stuff all you cool kids are doing nowadays. Sub ohm with a simple tank and mod - where I just fill it up and vape without any hassles. That's why I like those clearomizers...I just fill, vape, repeat. They don't leak (usually) and I don't have to think about anything. However, I'm not always satisfied with the vapor production, and depending on the juices these things can start to degrade in quality of vapor production and flavor in a week or two.

Hi Ice. I thought your nick sounded familiar from back when ecigs were in their infancy. Back in the days of 510 atties and 14500 batteries in a plastic mod and trying to find a way to rebuild that attie. Welcome back.

Yes! I still have two plastic box mods in my desk at work LOL. I thought I was really pushing the future's edge with a Cisco 306 and a Cannon tip from Cherry (and boba's bounty of course in the green dropper bottles with the gold caps).

Hi all! So I haven't logged in here in a LONG time but came back today to do some research and realized that I had passed 7 years of vaping! Crazy how time flies. Way back before I started vaping, I came to ECF, which turned out to be such an amazing and valuable place for all things vape. I met new people and learned so much before my first purchase. Shortly after joining here, I actually won an original Provari in one of the forum contests :) Today, that same Provari is still my daily driver and it has never failed once. I am amazed that the threads on the battery cap are still as smooth and tight as the first day. Truly amazing quality.

I noticed that everything has changed...like big time. It's seems like vaping is almost all sub ohm now?! What the heck? I still use 1.8-2.0 Ohm Smok Clearomizers on my Provari and my $9 mod. Both use 18650 batteries which I buy new and change once every 1.5 years or so (probably a little too long between changes, I agree).

I noticed that when I see vapers nowadays, they are blasting out gigantic plumes (must be the sub ohm stuff). I got sort of excited about it and I walked into a local vape shop and everything was sub ohm. I was totally out of the loop and had no idea what was what. The gentleman at the counter was very helpful explaining what sub ohm was all about, which was great. When he saw my Provari, he explained how provape was no longer...wow, I was shocked :/

Anyways, just popping in to say what's up!

Congrats on the milestone. Memory is the first thing to go, so I don't remember those dates exactly LOL. Seems we're pretty close. I remember seeing your name on some posts way back when.

This is kind of why I quit visiting the vape shop I had been loyal to for years. They started going after the hipster cloud blowing crowd, and now only stock products that favor that method. Just something I don't have an interest in, since my current setup meets the need. If it ain't broke, I don't fix it.

That said, you might think about exploring a rebuildable tank for your Provari or other low wattage power source, before (or while) jumping into megawatt mods. In fact, it might serve useful if you did get into sub-Ω, since I would suppose the added flexibility of a rebuildable would be even more useful with those. There's a small learning curve, but worth it IMO. It becomes low cost low maintenance once you get the hang of it. They also produce a much more consistent vape. Then you have control over the build to adjust it to your liking. I have had an OEM KFL+ for a few years (usually on the P3 I bought about a year ago at 7.8W). I think it took about a dozen builds to get it just right. Now I take 5 minutes once every week or two and put in a new wick that costs nothing, from a $5 roll of cotton that will last two lifetimes. Then about 2-3 times a year the coil gets changed out, again costing practically nothing and taking about 5 minutes. Best part? No waiting for crap to come in the mail LOL.

    Congrats on 7 years Ice.

I too vape pretty much the same as you. Sometime even with my V1 Provari.
About the only upgrade I've done over the years was to switch from the old 510 dripping atomizers to an A7 RDA. Which vapes very much the same. It's just that now I switch out about 3 cents worth of coil & wick instead of a $7 atomizer.

    Contest Winner!
Seven years. Congrats. I'm about a month from my 2 1/2 year mark. Of the 4 mods I have (3 tubes and a box), the only one I bought is a Provari 2.5 (which I bought from a member here), the other 3 (an Innokin 134 mini, an Eleaf iStick, and a Cloupor Sir Lancelot) I won in contests here. I started on an eGo/CE4 combo, and I have two eGo style batteries that I still use. Most of my vaping takes place on one of three clearo's that I like a lot, but I have a Serpent Mini RTA also. I am in the 'above ohm' club, sub-ohming just isn't for me. Too many battery dis and re charges, and a lot of juice usage..
