Recommendations for a new user?

Hello. I come on behalf of my fiance, who's trying to quit cold turkey, and afraid she wont' be able to, and she heard about e-cigs, and wanted to try them. I'm the more financially and buisness oriented, so I'm in charge of picking out the brand and whatnot, and I'm stuck, there's just so many.

Here's what we got. We dont' have a lot of money, at all. we have about 50-60$ for a starter kit, and may not be able to replace atomizers and batteries on a whim. Looking for something about that range, and refillable (liquid is a lot longer-lasting than buying new cartridges.) Ideal would be from amazon (free shipping), but you can't trust any reviews on that site anymore. We had looked at Loongtotem, but the non-refillable cartridges (at least, that's how they appear, no e-liquid is sold) and the horrific shipping scared us away. I've looked at the supplier list, and it's frankly terrifying, with all of them "the best" and so many exaggerations of greatness I feel like I"m navigating a world of used-car salesmen.

She smoked about half a pack a day of usa gold red 100's, with a bit more on stressful days. non-cigarette shape is fine, though cigarette shape is preferred, and vapor would be nice, to help with the smoke feeling.

Any recommendations for a hopeless guy just trying to do right by his love?

for sure at the very beginning you may need to switch between analogos and ec, if you are not a heavy smoker you can do it very easily, eliquid in small quantity is better from an US supplier the worst part is to find the one that suit you, if you do less than a pack a day and atmy should last you for weeks, $10 and atmy for a month vs $5 a pack of analgs every 2 days make the math

I would highly reccommend the Joye 510 . It is unbelievable and great for beginning vapers. You can get one from one of the Chinese companies for about $35 or domestically from $45-$55 for the starter kit which comes with 2 complete e-cigs.

First, for a device that is the closes to the physical feel when used to the real thing, make sure you get a MANUAL switch device. In addition, they are MUCH more reliable with more consistent performance and much fewer break downs. The autos are activated by inhaling but you basically have to "learn" how to inhale to make them work plus they will fail when liquid leaks into the battery. The autos also have a few second cut off of the battery that gets quite frustrating at times. The manual devices allows you to press a very small switch as you inhale so you can heat the atomzier as much as you want, providing warmer and more realistic vapor.

The two about in your price range that I would suggest is either the Joye 510 or the manual (not regular or auto) DSE901. I would definitely get a couple of small bottles of juice as the prefilled carts takes like crap. Here are some reputable suppliers of both. Rocky Mountain does have free shipping.

you may find it difficult to get many members to recommend a particular device because there are many choices available. the most popular are the 901 and 510. check out "leaford" on youtube to see some of these models in action (and his favorites). i really like the kr808d1. once you chose a model, post a thread asking where to get the best prices/service and you should be able to get the best deal.

I started with the 901 and liked it a lot. Then I tried the 510 and liked it better. Both are easy to get the hang of and you can find kits for around $40 at a number of the suppliers listed on these forums. I have ordered from 4 or 5 different suppliers and all have been helpful and conscientious. Check out the suppliers threads on the forums. Many of them have discount codes and such as well.

I'll second the 901 MANUAL posting, and be sure to check the classifieds section here, some good deals show up. Remember too you can sell there if, for example, you get a couple of juices you don't like..takes some of the risk out of buying.

Thanks, everyone, for all the help you've given. I'm going to get the JOYE 510, it seems right for what she's looking for, from a USA buyer-- she's off analogs now, but the sooner she can start vaping (is that the term?) the more likely she'll stay off, which is what we're going for.

Best deal I've found is at innovapor, their manual intro kit, it has 1 e-cig (and a bad warranty, my only worry) but some juice as well, for 30$ plus in-country shipping.

Hello and welcome, from an transplanted KY boy now outside Chicago! (send bourbon and corn squeezin's)

Have NO doubt. You just made a whole bunch of new friends, and all of us want this to go right. I'm new here too. I'll be having my first vape this week. Been talking to everyone I know about this, and discussing things on this board, and everyone's for it. The smokers want to try it(my mom already wants to steal one); the non-smokers are just a big ball of love over anything that will get me away from traditional (analogue) cigarettes.

Being a noob, I haven't any experience in using these yet to draw on for advice to give you, but from my experience in researching these, I would highly recommend watching the "Comprehensive Intro to Vaping" video (if you haven't already) that is posted near the top of this forum. I researched for days... DAYS... but in that < 60min video, I found out about things I'd missed that I think will make a huge difference in my transition, and hopefully for your fiancé.

Don't forget... nay, NEVER forget. Any questions, any problems, any issues; You've already found the place to address them. (I vote we add a group hug smilie for situations like this)
