I have a neighbor in his mid=70s who was just diagnosed with emphysema. He knows that I use an e-cig so he told my brother-in-law that he'll probably want to try one out.

I've seen lots of good posts about V4L...I think the cartomizer would be the easiest for him to use. He has been a heavy smoker all his adult life so it probably isn't going to be an easy transition for him. Besides the cartomizer, I think the longest battery life per charge will be important. (He doesn't have a computer so he'll have to rely on the charge or personal charger.)

Of the things available at V4L, what would you recommend?

You can get a USB charger that plugs into an outlet, so he could use the USB pass-through all day without worrying about batteries, as long as he is at home and near an outlet. But the extra long batteries are wonderful, and do last for quite a long time.

Totally agree with pass-through.. But I would get at least 3 xl batts, so he feels he can be were ever he wants. I use 4 xl's a day. I vap a lot and I smoked a lot. I would also suggest an extra charger so he can have two charging at a time. I am using two and charging two. That is what works for me.

Be sure to get various strengths and flavors of cartos. You might ask him what is important to him - taste or throat hit. 11mg and 18mg might be good levels to start with as some people find the 24 and 36 too harsh. If he finds he needs more throat hit, you can get the 24s later but the 18s should get him through. If he is a menthol smoker, 11 will probably be enough.

If he isn't a computer person, and doesn't go out a whole lot, probably a regular charger and 3 extra long or regular sized batts would be good. Or three batteries, a pcc, and a USB to wall charger. Good luck and thanks for taking him under your wing! ;)

I would be tempted to get a 10 second batt. I like the x-tra long but I find a get a better throat hit and more vapor with the 10 second batt. With the 10 second cutoff I can get in 3 long drags and a nice exhale vapor with the Parlaments and with the Kants. Exhale vapor is important to me (yeah, a bit strange!). I also like the auto batt because I can hold it more like a regular cigg and not have to press a button.
Just some more things to think about!
