Arrr, time for another break and catch up on some serious vaping ... puff puff puff..

This has got to be the most difficult batch I've done in a long time, but at least the woodwork is done. I lost all but one of the four Mark-7's this batch and the remaining one has been grabbed already. Next batch will have to be VERY Mark-7 heavy to make up for it. Maybe just a whole batch of Mark-7's and a few 8's. Ah well, the ship sails on ....

Will be hunting for a yellow jacket mark 7 ;);)

No more Gabon Ebony? Well, there's lots of other pretty Eboney - Macassar is nice!

I agree, there is also African Blackwood, Macassar ebony and other substitutes that are a bit cheaper and look just as nice. Gabon ebony is as bad as Snakewood for cracking, I will just start using something else instead.

That's too bad about the Snakewood being difficult to work with cuz' that has to be the COOLEST looking wood that I've seen so far!!!

Yeah, and the price of it is soooo much that I couldn't really afford to buy a nice piece and have it not good enough for sale at the end of the batch, a few too many of those and I will be out looking for an honest job!

Well, all done putting finish on them, time to let them set for a day then do it again. Think I might actually take tomorrow off, first real day off since the x-mas vacation I gave myself (my boss is such an a$$hole) and just play video games or something.
Good time to do it with the finish drying, no real time lost.

Is African Blackwood like Wenge or is it the same thing?

Ahoy all, hope your having a great day, just popping in to say hello!

I like the name of it!! hahah Capy made it sound like it looks more like the Gabon

African blackwood from what I hear is one of the, if not THE most expensive wood in the world, probably 3-5 times more than Gabon Ebony. It has most of the same properties but it is not considered a ebony anymore and is much easier to work but looks nearly identical to ebony. The price of wood just keeps going up, I would like to start using more of the ebonies, rosewoods and stuff, but the mod prices will just keep going up to cover the cost, kinda hesitant to have to do that.

Cappy! Did you get up at 5:46 AM???

"The early bird catches the worm", "The morning has gold in mouth" it says so?

is really fascinating African blackwood ".. often completely black, with little or no discernible grain. Occasionally slightly lighter, with a dark brown or purplish hue. The pale yellow sapwood is usually very thin, and is clearly demarcated from the darker heartwood" .. " to be considered the original ebony, African Blackwood was imported and used in Ancient Egypt thousands of years ago. Even the name “ebony” has an Egyptian derivation as “hbny”—which has been shown to refer to primarily to Dalbergia melanoxylon, rather than the species which are considered to be ebony today" .. loved!

Ahoy again, sorry but I took a nap, felt soooo tired but at least I got everything out in the mail first, just hope people get the right package! Zzzzzz...

Arrr, I made an appointment with the dentist for Thursday for a filling I lost, thats as quick as he can get me in. So in the meantime I can either suffer through it, or steal one of the Commodores pain killers, not feel the pain but drool all day long and stare at the walls. Tough choice but I do have work to do.

I am hoping to start getting the batch up on the website in the next few days so gotta stay focused. I think after this batch I am going to take a break. Been going for a while, time to reset RSM, do maintenance and upgrades, clean, sort and inventory methinks. Arrr
