Referrals to ECF!

This one's for the administrators. I do understand that Spam is something hard to control. However, I think that if you're being referred by an existing member, you shouldn't have to basically "SPAM" the site in order to be able to post in the thread that applies to you. Just a suggestion but maybe you could set up a confirmation e-mail system for existing members. This way we can confirm new members, relieve some of the pressure off you, in turn allow new member to get to where they need to be on the forums, and all without rambling on in a tread where we have nothing to say. Just a thought hopefully to be considered?

I may well be off-base on this, but the intention of the 'Five Postings' rule is to see a new member's bona fides in that they will contribute to the community.

An e-mail confirmation system wouldn't necessarily help.

Perhaps a Site Admin will be along soon to add to this...

Let's set aside the pains that our admin go to to control spam.

And the pains they would have to go to to reprogram the forum to accommodate you.

You really don't have time to read the first page of the new members forum, and ask questions about a topic that you may not completely understand? Or you know a lot about PV's, and you can't share 5 pieces of your knowledge with people off the street who know less that nothing?

Ask yourself, is the knowledge you will gain here worth trading some of yours?
