I have question about cartomizers. My understanding of this term implies that it is a cartridge and an atomizer all in one unit. My question is this - How long does the atomizer part of this unit last? I did look up the version for the 510 @ LeCig. they are selling them for 5 @ 9.99. My understanding is that depending on where you get them a standard atomizer is just slighty more than that. Depending on how many times you could refill and use them - this might be a good deal. But on the flip side - If they are one use only that seems rather expensive. As some of you may know - I am rather new to this forum - I am still in the researching stage of this process - I would like to gather as much knowledge on this topic as I can - So that I can make a well informed decision as to which device and accessories to buy - for an initial investment. Thanks for all the great knowledge and opinions that I have already gathered from this site. Freaky_Monkey - aka Scott.

You should really try the forums search feature, works very well, and you will find TONS of info. I was looking for other info today, and stumbled across the thread below, which should help you get started in finding the info you are looking for. GOOD LUCK!

Yes the atty is built in to the cartridge, the atomizer part will last much longer than it needs too (imo).

I am still using one that I have filled over 60 times now, it works ok but is not as fresh or tasty as a newer one.

I set out to deliberately kill one by vaping (without inhaling) it at 7.2 volts but it still held up, the filler material did burn and and has a nasty taste, I pulled it apart last night, will post some pics later.

So far none of mine have died by way of atomizer breakage, but I have retired a few due to the filler losing it's "goodness" and I guess 'gunk' can build up on the wire over time.

In the end I guess it comes down to how frugal you are, I hate seeing wastage so I am compelled to use things until they are totally stuffed, but I am trying change that and get a routine happening where I just open a new 5 pack every week (I still keep the old ones... 'just-in-case') and add a new one to the user-group every week day. (I keep 8 cartos in my user group)

Economically it works out pretty cheap, about 1 dollar a day for new carts/atties/filler all in one and no cleaning atomisers, money on modding materials or anything else.

When I mainly used 3 piece ecigs, I would try to allow for a new atty every two weeks, and would constantly fool (ie: clean, mod, soak, boil, burn, punch etc) with them as performance dropped.

I am trying to lash out even more and buy more shop-filled ones as a way of trying heaps of different juices and flavors, the price escalates to about $1.50 a day. :D

Long story short, this is awesome, nice work!!

I generally vape my 510 atomizers with the ADM mod, and my 306 atomizers from dripping or dipping. But I got ahold of an adapter and a couple of V4L cartomizers just to try them out. One was white chocolate strawberry and one was caramel. I thought they both had that underlying perfume flavor so I stopped using them.

At the same time I also got ahold of three blank cartomizers and figured when I got around to it I could learn how to refill a cartomizer and try them out with my own juices that I know and love. But they just sat there, and it never rose to the top of my list of things to try, until I read this thread.

Filling them was SUPER easy, and I finally got a chance to try my Nhaler High Voltage RY4 in a cartomizer. It really showed me that the performance of the cartomizers does not lag as far behind the 510 as I thought. In fact, I will be getting some more blank cartomizers and will work them into my reperatoire thanks to this refilling technique. I can use these for when I will be gone all day long and don't want to mess with any refilling, dripping, or carrrying any juice, like when I go skiing, or to an amusement park or something.

Again, fantastic idea!!!

Do you have a LINK to the "adm mod", a search returns with too many results of threads. Thanks, I like my 510 better then my 810 and 910, but always looking for improvements. Thanks!

DOGSBODY! zOMG! Ok, I had always been curious about cartomizers but was scared to try them because syringes filled with nicotine fluid sounded like a good way to get nicotine poisoning if one were to slip...so...I bought a pack of five just because of you. I got them yesterday and tried my darndest to empty the thing...took me a whole day almost, but I finally emptied it and I tried refilling it YOUR WAY! Ok, so, results of a complete carto nOOb...I did exactly what you said and the carto sucked it all up, I then let it drain the tiny drop of excess out then blew out whatever was left in the hole...swipe swipe...new battery...holy heck does this thing vape like a train! (I made a special tiny little nicostick mod just for it...didn't waste money on the batteries). Anyways, I love it. I love the warmth of it on my lips, I love how much vapor I get out of a tiny 10440p battery...I love the ease of refilling it. I am a CONVERT! Previously I had only used 801s and 103s ever before in my life. Because of you I'm in vaping heaven!

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU :)

Can you describe this "mod"? Sounds cool. Glad you tried the cartos, they are easy.

It's a tiny little 2AAA box (size in comparison to a joye stick shown in photo) with a specially made connector to allow airflow. I couldn't use it on any of my ecigs because I only have ones with closed battery compartments that allow no airflow and will not allow one to vape on the cartomizers. So, it was out of fun AND necessity. Nothing special, just a "nicostick" with a special connector with an air hole! :)

If the pics won't show up, just let me know! Man, those things make my tiny hands look HUGE! LOL! My soldering on this unit sucks though...I'd been fighting with broken switches for hours replacing and resoldering I finally just made some temporary solders to test the unit. It looked much better the first time I put it together...it just wouldn't work with the broken switch I had accidently put in it. I should really test these things before I solder them! ROFL!

ROFL! I never thought about selling any! LOL. I just made it out of necessity! :)

Invention is the mother of necessity.

You never know. Just leave up the photo of the finished product, so others can't figure out how you made it, and then offer them for sale. I'd probably buy one, if the price was decent.

If I had enough 801-901 adapters to make them look purty (cuz it can be done several ways, but it looks professional IMO the way I did it, and because it was a good idea and really all I know since I've never had 901s) I would make you one for price of parts alone (of course, payable in carts if you desired) :) Couldn't guarantee it would last long. But alas...I only have a couple of these adapters left...and they are spoken for (my husband needs the rest for conversions of his existing units! :))
