Refilling Cartomizers... poor vapor?

So I've been vaping like a mad woman for the last 4 days. I have a KR-808D-1 and am filling/refilling cartomizers myself.

My best vape comes from a newly filled cartomizer (I'm filling them using the condom method) and re-filling them just seems to give off a less vapor production and feels wrong... I can't explain how that is in words that would make anyone understand. It's just less satisfying.

Anyone else experience this? Am I doing something wrong? Advice? I don't want to have to just use the cartomizer once... that seems far more expensive than analogs. I will go through a cartomizer in a few hours if I'm bored or the flavor is really good. All of your wisdom is appreciated. Telling me I am just plain crazy is also acceptable.

I want to add that I don't require a HUGE amount of vapor to make me happy but what I get after newly filling a carto is awesome.

One of my set-ups is a kr808, and I have had no problem with refilling and vapor production. After refilling, I have noticed the first few vapes don't have as much vape, but I think it takes a minute for the juice to warm up. Also with condom filling, are you blowing the excess out? If there is too much liquid, your vapor will definitely be reduced.

You could be overfilling them. I don't refill my cartos until the flavor starts changing the vapor starts dropping off. I don't use the condom method, either. I just pop off the mouth piece and drip juice on the filler. It's easier and cleaner. I'm using the KR808 Mega Cartos from IkenVape and they take around 60 drops and last for hours before they need to be refilled. Standard cartos can take around 20-25 drops to fill.

I let mine sit for at least 15 minutes after I've filled them and I roll them between my fingers before I use them. Letting them rest allows the juice to soak into the filler, and rolling them distributes the juice through the carto.

I have been using KR808D-1 cartomizers for over six months and think they are a great vaping method. During all this I have gotten a few cartomizers that fail after one fill. A lot of these bad ones have had the central tube/wire leaning all the way against the tube wall. Before filling a new one I always check that and if needed get toothpick or paperclip and bend the tube into its center position. Today I always get my cartomizers from CigEasy. I choose their empty Gold Label Deluxe Cartomizers. They also hold a little more liquid than a standard cartomizer.

Hi RedhddOne, I find that with my Kr8 a newly filled carto and a newly charged battery gives me the best th and vapor production. Are you giving it a little short starter drag first? Also if you have a manual battery hold the button a second before you drag. Especially on a newly filled carto, to get it warmed up. Hope that helps.

I am blowing out any excess out, and rarely does a lot come out of the carto. I try very hard not to overfill.

I tried just dripping the juice onto the filler of one... and it had that "warm burning" taste... which to me states "TOO DRY!" Am I wrong in that line of thinking? Not to mention I got more juice all over the place trying that then I do using the condom method. LOL I am not steady enough, I think. Please read: RedhddOne will never be a surgeon of any kind.

I'll keep working on it. I know I'm still a newb and that practice makes perfect. Thank you all for the advice! :D

I myself don't use the condom filling method. Seems like you get too much juice in the center hole. I think a lot has to do with the carto you are using. LiteCig makes a premium 808 carto that words really good. Take a new carto and pop the plastic thingie off, fill it by dripping juice on the filler (to the sides, not getting any in the center). Takes about 25 drops or so. After the initial fill should work fine for an hour or 2 (depending on how much you vape) then after that, just pop the plastic mouthpiece off and add 5-6 drops or so, just to keep it topped off.

I've also found that some juices don't last as long as others, or rather, the carto's don't last as long with certain juices. I also rotate between three batteries quite often. Seems like sometimes the battery isn't putting enough juice out, even though its not 'dead' yet, so i'll go ahead and exchange for a freshly charged one and that helps.

But yeah, it could be the actual carto that you're using and I would highly suggest the premium ones. Also, if you have problems not making a mess, you could always use a syringe with a wide needle to put the juice in the carto.

I have the same problem and I have searched and searched for answers and cannot for the life of me figure out what I'm doing wrong!

I get out my brand new blank cartomizers, fill them and the vape is heavenly. I refill them (several methods tried) and they just are not the same at all. I've read several forums, watched several videos, and just can't figure it out. I've tried boiled the carts to see if that was the problem and that didn't seem to help either. Like you, I can't see buying blanks constantly, so what's left?

dont see that happening with my boge cartos, however I tend to rotate 3 at the same time, so while I vape one, I have one resting and another one filled with juice resting same way .. once the one is use has dropped in taste I blow out the rest that may be in the carto still from buttom to top having a tissue attached to the top where the cap pops out .. then I leave it to rest and start the "filled" spare and so on ... I have found out it I stick to one constantly and even top it up I end up in the same situation like you do, I am not chain vaping though with my cartos I use them as I would use regular analogs - take 10-15 drags and put it down ...

Never had luck washing the cartos out. To me they're vaping through a soggy paper towel.

To me it's better to keep 4-3 going than to keep topping the same one off. Maybe it gets too hot or something.

No question, the best thing is a freshly filled carto. This is why I usually fill 3-4 and when I'm done with one, go on to the next new carto.

I do refill them at the end of the night or when it's needed. But it seems to work better for me doing that than continually topping off the same carto.

I am having similar issues as the OP, and am going to try your method. I have been using the same carto for 2 days at a time, 3 if I'm lucky. I've burned some up right away, and some have lasted less than a day. I cleaned 4 the other day, but I haven't tried them.

How long do yours last when you have 3 in rotation (before you throw them away)?
