Bottles is confoosing.

What sizes do you guys and gals like? I'm talking about the horribly practical matter of what works best for you when it comes to yanking stuff out of the freezer for your next DIY working projects. What did you find was too big where you ended up refreezing "too much" or having to move "too much" down into smaller bottles? Or what size was simply too small - and annoying? Stuff like that.

I'm assuming you freeze smaller amounts of nic per bottle than you do with your no-nic PG or VG.

If it matters I'll be buying 48 mg nic and mixing down to the 18 mg or lower range.

I won't be doing large batches - shooting for 90 ml's at a time but will adjust up as reasonable.

Noodles to say I'm "FDA paranoid" about long term storage needs, if that should be factored in too. I'm actually getting a 1.3 cu ft. mini freezer as a birthday present.

(Help!)

Im jealous of that mini freezer...

but 90ml sounds like a good option if you do 18mg. I was going to go with 8oz when I started but I realized they are just to much to have sit on the shelf so long when I would need to grab one. I only mix for 6mg now.

I now have 120ml and 60ml bottles. I decided now that 60ml is my best option, that means more bottles but I can grab one and it can sit on the shelf for a month or so, 120ml or more for me may sit out for several months, so 60ml seems like a nice balance for fresh juice that's out of the freezer when I need it, and if I run out before that I can just grab another one.

Thanks for the input AlphaX! That's in the range-ish I was thinking and for the same reasons, but this being a new project I wanted to check before ordering a pile of "wrong."

I'm eyeballing these: Specialty Bottle - French Square Glass Bottles

They jump in increments at 2, 4, 6, 8 ounces etc. Looks like I would be heading for the 4 and 6 ounce. (Or maybe 6 and 8.) Figger square would get more packed in that tiny fridge and I like the large opening. The only thing I'm not sure about is the "goodness" of the caps.

Yeah - freezer... lol. Sis asked what I wanted for my birthday so... If anyone is curious this is the bitty one: HUM013EA | Upright Freezers | Haier US They run $180.00, give or take. You could get a lot more freezer for about the same money but this is all I have room for. My real freezer is too busy with food storage so this is really a necessity. (At least that's what I'm gonna believe anyway. lol)

I only have a 500ml stash, and got the 120ml bottles from Wizard. You can overfill them to about 125ml and leave very little air space, so this worked out very well for me. Note that this is a long term storage plan unrelated to batch sizes.

Yeah, I'm kinda looking at it as both. It just seems it would be easier to transfer the stuff from plastic to glass only once into "practical size" bottles, unless there is a reason what that can't or should not be done.

I also use 60ml bottles to freeze nic but I use 100mg so the smaller bottle goes a long way. Leave as little air space as possible. Colored glass is better than clear but keeping light out is key so if you use clear glass it should then be stored in a box (or wrapped in foil) away from light.

I bought a couple of extra 500ml bottles of unflavored 60mg Nic / 100% PG liquid.

I am just going to leave this liquid in the un-opened white plastic bottles it came in from RTS Vapes.

I may be wrong, but instead of putting this in the freezer, I am thinking of just leaving it in the dark cabinet it's already setting in ... Anyone here have proof that this stuff will last longer in the freezer vs being stored in a closed / dark cabinet at room temperature?

I asked CS at wizard about this, and they said that you need to store them in glass, filled to minimize headspace. The bottle size you choose should be dependent on what will suit your needs for a few weeks out of the freezer. Since I vape at 3mg and use 48 mg nic base, I have mine stored in 8ml bottles. I have a LARGE amount of premix unflavored, so I probably won't use any of those little bottles (recycled ones that their flavorings come in) until November. By that time, the nic I have will be a year old.

FLT, I don't think your plan is that great, but the nic degradation is so slow, mine is probably overkill.

Well...it mattered to me.

Currently I am using 40-45ml of nic. a month.

How much nic. will I be using each month years from now? I have no idea. I'm using 4 oz. boston round bottles. In case I wish to split and refreeze part of one of those in the future, I also have some 2 oz. bottles.

I understand oxygen is not a positive to nic. storage. I wanted a lid that would seal well and a liner that would not contribute to the nic. flavor.

Looking at past posts here, I saw some by someone who was referred to as "our resident chemist". He had suggested (and used) something very similar to...

Amber Euro Glass Bottle 100 ml w/ Dropper Cap (Blk)

I went with PolyCone Lined Phenolic Caps. YMMV

I use Specialty Bottle Co. 1oz or 30ml bottles boston rounds with conical cap inserts...seal well and hold enough 100mg/ml base for a month or so of DIY. Store in bottles that you will use for a month or so and I store in refrigerator which is good for your immediate usage...take out and get to room temp and get your mix on...:vapor:

For a year you can store your nicotine without refrigeration, in plastic bottle, in dark place (if your air conditioner is working).
Only when you need to store for longer time you need glass bottle and freezer.

Somewhere out there
I was concerned about space, so I opted for mostly 240ml bottles, with 2 120ml, 1 60ml, 1 30ml and 1 15ml. I plan on using up the small bottles first then decanting from the large bottles into the smaller ones as time goes on. 120ml of 100mg is nearly a years supply for me, so I should not need to touch the large bottles very often.

I thought a bunch of small bottles would take up too much space, as I want to keep them upright, so the liquid doesn't touch the cap liner and to minimize the surface area of liquid exposed to air inside the bottle.

Check back with me in 4 or 5 years and I'll let ya'll know how this worked out. :p
