nobody? I was really on the edge of either getting the science of vaping mod or fufda mod, but then I found this beauty pop up at some vapeshop sites i frequent, but after I tried searching it as "REMMod" or "SMPL 2.0" The only posts I have found are of a guy with button issues that apparently show arcing issues. Tried searching for reviews on it as well but no luck. Will prob give it a week to see if any reviews or testimonials pop up. Also I know its technically the same as the SMPL, call me nitpicky, but I dislike the gold colored button on that mod and much prefer this silver colored switch. I dont really like brass/copper/gold showing on my equipments.

this is not the mod i am talking about. It's this one: REMmod by REM Creations

I guess it used to be called the SMPL 2.0, but was later renamed REMMod. The ones you linked seem to just be clones of the original SMPL which isn't what im looking for.

well, rem creations posted up their buttons for sale on thevaporlair.com , and apparently they know about the issue and arent ignoring it. It still leaves me weary on purchasing their product now though...

from their official site:

"REM Creations offers a 45 day limited warranty for the REMbutton. The limited warranty covers any manufacturer’s defects. If you are experience any issues with the button such as hot button or arching, please stop using the product immediately and contact online
@thevaporlair.com; we will exchange or fix your defective button.
REM Creations and The Vapor Lair will not be held responsible for improper use of atomizers or incorrect battery install."

so they acknowledge the defective buttons I guess.. still, looks like the search for my perfect mod continues, got soooo close. that remmod was exactly what I was looking for.

.

FWIW

The B&M replaced my switch and I haven't has any issues since but it's only been 4 days. The problem with my original switch surfaced immediately.

.

ahh nice thanks for replying, I saw that you were the one whos thread I found about the arcing switch. I still have a week or so to wait for my paycheck to order anyways. I also had REM directly reply to my question on their facebook, apparently it was just a problem with their first patch and they have it fixed. Unless yours starts acting up again within the next week ill probably pick up one at the end of next week.

"REM Creations Hey Matt, yes we have fixed the issue. That issue was on the first batch released and we apologize about that. We quality check every single mod that comes out of production so something like that doesn't happen again. Let us know if you have any further questions!

Also I was looking at the REMmod cuz of the switch specifically, call me picky but I dont like gold/brass/copper showing on my mods.

annnddd i just read through that whole tvl/eds drama in the smpl thread. looks like i definitely will be purchasing a REMMod over a smpl, I just dont feel like giving my money to EDS after that whole debacle. Hopefully TVL has the issues of arcing ironed out, on their facebook pach they replied to one of my comments and said the arcing issues were int he first batch and they have fixed the issues now.

What I don't get is... how does (REM/TVL) get to steal both the design AND the name, and get to be the "righteous" ones? :?: So much fuss is made about evil chinese clones. I don't see any difference here, except maybe the authentic pricing. Okay, so they coated the button to set it apart. That didn't start off so well.

Seems to me they're both in the wrong, so me and my wallet will side with the safe bet that's proven, and NEVER had a hot button issue --> EDS. I'll put my Ox-Gard coated EDS-clone button up against any REM button any day of the week. 4 months (and counting) of daily, maintenance-free, real world use at 0.3 ohm.

Any info from TVL as to how they fixed the hot button problem? If you can't see the rhodium coating, how do you know it's there? You have to admit it's convenient that the base metal is stainless. That won't tarnish either. :glare:

I'm eagerly waiting for the day when they release the new button which doesn't use Stainless as the base metal. I've got a mod here that I could actually use a spare SMPL button for to complete it but I refuse to spend $60 on this SS Rhodium plated switch when I can spend $35 on an Infinite clone and get a pretty much perfectly copied brass switch.

TVL came out on top because EDS stopped responding to customers.
Default, because they have experience running a store.
Never, ever ignore customers.
Business 101.
That said, both companies acted like amateurs.
:D

From what I read at least, I didn't really see any 'backlash' (not sure if correct word) from TVL, and TVL looked like the victim. Seemed like EDS were the aggressors and spreading rumours then ignoring customers once they figured out what was going on and that they were lying, then TVL changing their mod from SMPL 2.0 to REMMod to further distance themselves from their former partners.

Either way I plan on trying out one of the new REMMods, they seem to be also bent on making sure their newer batches dont have the same problem as their first batch, saying they will fix or replace your button if you get a defective one directly on their site. They said they do quality control now to make sure it doesnt happen again, but it makes me think where was the QC before they started selling their first batch.

I'll agree on the customer service aspect.

As for TVL vs EDS, I was told by someone claiming to have first hand knowledge of the situation that TVL commissioned REM to make EDS branded SMPLs after EDS pulled the plug on TVL. So, if true, REM was actually making clones. The story continues that REM didn't start making switches with their own branding until EDS pitched a fit (and rightfully so, if this story holds water).

I certainly can't verify any of this but I won't be purchasing any REM products. My EDS SMPL is damn good.

Sounds like neither company has a clue how to act professionally.
That's why I opted for a clone. Built better than the EDS or the REM.
