That is some really nice wood mv. I really like the Afzelia Burl, and the Amboyna Burl. Are these sourced from the same place, or do you buy from different sources?
From a few different sources Paul. Most were from that infamous "bidding site"...

Knowing what I know about the injustice done by photos of the work Rob does Tripp... I'd say that is a awesome looking chunk of Cocobolo wood buddy! Congrats, and I'm happy it finally arrived. :)

Latest addition to my small reo family, black w/silver door grand!

blacksilvegrand.jpg

Compared to the silver w/black door one I bought off the classifieds, the finish on this one is so much nicer. Idk if the other one is just aged but the anodizing on my new one feels much tougher/thicker. Also love the tumbled look behind the black finish. Looks so classy and nice, I'm promising myself to be VERYYY careful not to drop it!

And, of course, she's kicked proper:

Very happy with my purchase of a quality product! Thanks, rob!

But...his poor lil tip is showing! You didn't protect it :( I am guessing the whole thing survived though :)

Purpleheart stayed on the patio table most of the time. I had on a heavy cotton canvas wrap top, with huge deep pockets. So when I wasn't doing something rough, like just walking around and scoping out areas, he got to ride in a pocket. The "diaper" was mostly to protect him from the sun even though he has Howard's Sun Wax. It can only do so much towards screening UV and the sun is fierce here!!!! Purpleheart will eventually turn brown and can lose a lot of purple if exposed to too much UV over a period of time.

Hugs, Feisty Alice

Beautiful!!! I'm so happy you are happy.:)

Robert has changed millers and anodizers several times, since summer 2010, so the underneath bare aluminum, the way it is tumbled, and the anodization "coats" differ over time. It is possible your first REO was milled and/or anodized by shops that he no longer uses. There have been only two major color changes, though, unless the Purple that his newest anodizer has just started doing is different from previous purples. (I'll know tomorrow as we have a newest purple Grand arriving, hopefully, tomorrow. It will join four other purple REOs, all very different from each other.) Those major changes have been the blue and the green. He did a very small run of Mini REOs in mid 2010. The blue, from that run, has a tiny bit more green in it and it is lighter than the blue that came after. In the past several months the newest green is lighter and has more yellow in it than previous green.

The metal REOs can be dated, somewhat, by the milling marks on the inside. The first runs had swirly, swishy pattern, the next there are distinct lines that are squarish with rounded corners, the last have distinct circular lines.

Beautiful!!!!! Robert's Lacewood is my favorite of any Lacewood Mods I've seen. Of course I can say that about all of his WOODs. He has uncanny abilities to pull the best out of every piece of WOOD that he gets in his hands.

It's so nice when people share photos of their REOs. It's the next best thing to having more and more ........... well except if you have a friend who has one and lets you play with it.:)
