I don't think Rob is losing too many mod sales to the clone. I'd wager 95%+ of the clone buyers would have never purchased the authentic. However, they may purchase the upgraded contacts, bottles, and maybe the non-LP version of the RM2 from Rob. So, the clone potentially generates some income Rob would have never realized without its existence. I also can't get too wound up about it since most of the attys Rob sells on his site are, wait for it... clones.
Does it suck to see your intellectual property stolen? Sure it does. But, again, I doubt the clone sales are having any real detrimental impact on Rob's bottom line. The authentic REO is a very high quality, built to last a lifetime product, backed by unparalleled customer service. Some people can justify the price tag, some can't.
