Forget to mention you heavily modified the clone?

The marks from your power grinding are pretty clear.

Lol

Wasn't me. Like I said - I know a guy, who had one, and he posted these pics in our local forum.
What I know is he grinded it down so that it can take 22mm attys. The plastic parts were grinded so that they would fit after melting, I suppose. The spring was too soft too.

Can't blame the clone when the owner modifies the device to accept atomizers not intended to be used on it.

Even the authentic requires a "sub ohm kit" to upgrade it.

That's why Rob sells them for his mods.

Actually the sub ohm kits are for all the older Reo's. All of the current Reo's come with the sub ohm contacts installed.

I'm not knocking the clones, it was going to happen eventually so no need for me to get all emotional about it. Do I think it sucks, yep, but like I said it was going to happen. My main concern, and why I posted in this thread at all, is for those who don't know anything about Reo's or the Reo clones and don't visit this forum. These clones are an accident waiting to happen with the contact issue. That is a fact.

Have no issues with a 0.5 Ohm build (that's sub-ohm, right?). No need for the heavy duty positive contact so far. Maybe if i went crazy with hendrix-dragon-spacecoils around 0.1 Ohm then.

Emotional?
It's a thread titled "REO Grande Clone".
Who's emotional?

;)

The clone IS a clone of the older REO Grand.

It's not the clone that's the accident waiting to happen, it's the fanatics going out of their way, giving advice about gear they have zero experience with that's gonna cause an accident.

For $25 its a great Mechanical Bottom-feed Mod.. From the reviews I have seen in the Squonker forum. It only marginally falls short of the AUTHENTIC in quality and function. Infact the Most of the bad reviews are from Fanboys, who knock it mainly because it is a clone, of their Holy Grail. Most complaints revolve around the fact that they Cloned the Old style Grand rather than the LP version. This means you must use a 14mm or smaller atty. The Reos Grand was originally designed for Cartos and smaller tootle puffing attys, with a .6ohm limit. All it not lost, just like the authentic, it is easy to modify. You can file/grind 3mm off the juices cup, and fit any atty you desire. It can be updated to current standard, SUB Ohm ability, using the $25 Reos Grand Upgrade kit, from Reos Mods.

If someone doesn't have modding experience perhaps leaving it the way it is would be a good idea.

This will be my last reply to you, you're creating a vibe that's just a little to negative/insulting for my taste. It is the clone that's the accident waiting to happen, let me tell you why. The older Reo grand came out years ago when sub ohm wasn't the "in" thing to be doing, which is the "in" thing now, especially for the younger crowd who generally don't take the time to learn about safety or even care about safety. That's why you mention sub ohm kits and shaving the catch cups, so that this clone of the old style Reo can be updated to suit the more modern day vaper. So how smart was it to clone something old and outdated? Not very. The clone manufacturer didn't do their research. So this clone is the danger and I, the "fanatic", am pointing out why. Have a good day.

Are you implying the cloner should have upgraded the clone?
It's a copy.

I've seen positive reports on the clone and negative reports on the clone. The thing costs like $25, right? QC is going to be hit or miss. With that out of the way...

I don't think Rob is losing too many mod sales to the clone. I'd wager 95%+ of the clone buyers would have never purchased the authentic. However, they may purchase the upgraded contacts, bottles, and maybe the non-LP version of the RM2 from Rob. So, the clone potentially generates some income Rob would have never realized without its existence. I also can't get too wound up about it since most of the attys Rob sells on his site are, wait for it... clones.

Does it suck to see your intellectual property stolen? Sure it does. But, again, I doubt the clone sales are having any real detrimental impact on Rob's bottom line. The authentic REO is a very high quality, built to last a lifetime product, backed by unparalleled customer service. Some people can justify the price tag, some can't.

The Reo is a magnificent device. It's in a class by itself. You might want to consider getting verified for the classifieds as there are often good deals posted for them. There is also a thread down in the Reo forum for members looking to buy or sell Reos.
Just wanted to clarify, the thread in the REO sub-forum is for Trades only, and for REO merchandise only. No sales or monies allowed outside the classies.

I knew it was for Reo products only, but I couldn't remember if it was just for trading. I've only posted there once. I should have checked before I posted here.

That would be like someone asking me where to get a Harley Clone. Been ridin' 'em since 1962. Is the best motor out there? Maybe not, but nothin' beats the real thing. If you like a want a Reo....save up and get one. rob sometimes has blems on the Reo Site for great savings....

Honda, Yamaha and kawasaki have them and they are better than the Harley.

Shouldn't that read something along the lines of, "In my opinion," "From my experience," etc.? Without a qualifier your comment lacks credibility.

I should have thought that out a little more as there ALWAYS seems to be someone that has to poke a dead horse just to see if it's still alive. And, my cranky drip tip is better than his cranky dip tip I'll bet....

Its 18 bucks free shipping read the reviews, buy the upgrade kit. Rob says he does not care and finds it complimentary that someone would clone his work. Buy the authentic support his biznuss or buy his kit support his biznuss you will love the experience either way.. It's not rocket science of a mod and is easily updated repaired and/or made whole..
