yep, hold the mod up to your ear-press gently until you hear a crackle to help gauge how hard to press.
I had one that was drilled a little deeper than the rest. I had to use a spacer with flat tops.
Just mash it to death - it can take it and it's easily fixed!

..and it's easier to press hard with the button cover. But the cover's not so hard on the finger..

I don't use the button covers. i have melted about 9 firing buttons. When you do that - you DO mind!

You can also glue a thumbtack upside down on the button cover if you're worried you might push it to hard. Problem solved.

Hey guys, I just noticed something, my newest reo grand, i don't even have a button cover on, and it is not auto locking.
My other two grands I had to mod cuz they kept locking on me.

Think it's harder for the button to turn without the cover on it. With the cover on all mine I can just rotate the button with my thumb to lock and unlock it. Sometimes I'll find the button rotated when I pull it from my pocket.

Also if the upper contact sits harder against the button it doesn't turn as easy, so it doesn't auto lock. I bend or straighten mine so they don't auto lock. If your a button masher they will slowly bend down and have a auto lock problem.
I've noticed that they tend to auto lock with the button covers on. I don't have that problem with the ones I don't have covers for. Or the ones I've pulled out the pin, so it can't auto lock.
If it is bothering you, if you have a 1 ml syringe like for DIY, the little rubber piece that pushes own the fluid fits rather well on that button. And it stays on. Something you could do if it is bothering your finger/thumb until you get a button ordered if you want one. Just throwing this out there because this is what I did until I got a button for my first reo.

We have maybe a similar thing in Tx....at 17 they are considered adults and can do whatever they want, but you are still legally responsible for whatever they do til they are 18. Idiotic! I sure hope something can get hold of him to straighten him out soon.

Love this too!! Been trying to decide if I wanted a cover, think I might, but after using this Hana clone even the reg button will be sooooo nice. these hana buttons are awful. So this might be a happy medium to start with. But probably will get a cover anyhow. Gotta get a spring or two soon as I get the $ in. (son musta known I wanted to order sumpthin he didn't call me back last night) lol Actually I'm sure he just got outta work really late.
Sorry I missed ya hun.....but I ended up missing everyone tonite seems like. It is soooooo cold here. Still nothing like what some are getting but really bad for us. News just said that DFW is icing up....every time they get these nasty storms, they send em down here to us! Not looking forward to that. Supposed to be below freezing next few nights. So not lookin forward to that. Google says it's 36 now.
oh man....news just said it's 34 windchill is 24 but gonna be in the teens by morning. Not a good time to be up at night. The heater in the bedroom does better than the one out here in the living room. I'm gonna be a popsicle soon!!! lol
