My husband is still dual using, so there are still some cigarettes being smoked in my house. I have to wash the walls periodically but no longer know if its the smokes or the vaping, or even how much vaping contributes.

But, you have to love paint that is washable! :) I recommend it, I would hate to have to repaint continually, walls have to be washed, especially around light switches and doorways..

Am I the only one who makes sure to purchase washable paint? lol.. am I the only one who regularly washes walls?

I hope not, typing all this I am starting to sound OCD.. hahaha
The builder grade paint that the builder used 2 years ago is a thin coat of cheap unwashable. We had them repainted this summer with an eggshell paint that is washable. I will be washing my walls next week. I love being able to wash walls

I wash walls ALL THE TIME. My mom NEVER did. Me and the husband had to totally rehab her house when she left, to help repay what she contributed to implants. The woman had never washed a wall in her life, I don't think, AND when she purchased it, (she selected the options, it was new built) they had NON WASHABLE PAINT IN THE GARAGE. (?????????)

We went through SO many quarts of simple green, and ended up doing a LOT of painting, but me and the husband know how to rehab a house to brand new. It's not crazy HARD, it's just a LOT of work. The real estate agent saw it before and after, and apparently (according to the husband, I hate that lady for a bunch of reasons and can't be around her without issues) she thought it added like $30K in value. It would have been a lot easier with some ROUTINE maintenance. Anyway, she wanted to hire my husband to do some work around the house, only upon later discussion with him, it turns out she spent a lot of time talking about her "absent husband" and "handy-man jobs" she needed, so I had to inform my husband she was *hitting on him* which only made me more annoyed.....

But, after that large digression, I scrub parts of my walls almost weekly, usually high traffic areas like around door handles and whatnot.

More people should do it, it's actually kind of soothing, not OCD. Nice paint looks nice. So, I scrub dirt where I find it on the paint I have now LOL.

It also stops situations such as the above^^^^^^ my mom had regular cleaning ladies, but when all her stuff was removed???? Terrifying. The worst part was vacuuming and fixing her silk drapes without totally killing them. For me, anyway. I think the worst part was the husband finding out he got hit on, LOL, he kept saying, "Oh my God, what if I said yes?" I pointed out that a hasty exit is always an option, but he seemed all a-tremble.

My older brother is clueless and never notices a woman hitting on him. I always have to tell him but he still won't go back and talk to them. Yes, he is still single.

I don't think men understand the handy man concept.. lol.. really they don't.

I wanted my husband to put up one of those better homes and gardens cubes organizer cabinets so he could organize some of his stuff better. (My area looks nice, his area.. not so much.. lol)

Anyway, after I bought that cabinet for him to put together it just sat there forever, so I told him I married a man and I wanted him to act like a man and put stuff together like men do and if he didn't do it I would hire a handy man..

it was a threat.. lol.. which he didn't take as a threat. All he said was "We don't have handy men around here.. just hillbillies.."

hahahaha (He did finally put it up though! But only after I started it.. lol)

Yeah, I don't think men understand - next time I seek a threat I have to find a different one now. That one did not work!

We have lived in our brand new home since 2009. A new home I am proud to say was built from the ground up by my husband and me. We never smoked in here but have been vaping in here for almost 6 years. I have seen absolutely no sign of any kind of residue from vaping. I don't wash the walls regularly but I do dust them a few times a year.

There is one place that has to be scrubbed with a magic eraser pretty often though. that is the bottom of one wall in my dining room/kitchen area. It is Matties favorite place to lay (that is Mattie over there in my avi) Even after having to clean it every month or so the paint still looks just as good as new.

I painted ALL the walls with washable paint and love it. I wouldn't waste my time painting with anything other than washable paint. I hope the OP's painter is using a good washable paint but I know some of them try to get by as cheap as possible

Fortunately I married a handy man that is a master of all of them :D I wish all of y'all could see the wonderful deck he built for me this past summer.

Awesome on the deck and the house! Very nice!

My husband will build and fix anything - that he wants built or fixed. If I want it, it can be more difficult to get him to do it sometimes. If its something to make my life easier, he will do it in a heartbeat. But something like' 'I think your area is messy and we need to organize?' NOPE! He likes his mess for some odd reason!

Totally agree on the paint!

There is no "I agree with your husband" button.

My husband is the same way. There are just place I don't go (the shed) for my own peace of mind. And yet, if he's awake at midnight, he'll sit around making organizational things for *me*.

I also don't enter the study, frankly because the piles of paper scare me, and the husband keeps *saying* he'll write down all his passwords for stuff "soon" but he never does. It was like pulling teeth to get the password to his phone, LOL. I argued for a long time, "Okay so here are the people I can notify after you die.... your mother, and your stepsister. Is that really what you want me to have to do? Call your mom and stepsister and say that you don't trust me enough with your phone password, and I'm burying you as a pauper because I can't get into your bank account, too?" LOL.

He better not die first man, at least not before the house gets finished. If it happens suddenly, I'll probably have to invest in a hacker, that, and possibly declare bankruptcy since I have no knowledge of our investments, etc, which just doesn't sound like a fun thing to do whist burying one's spouse. I call him the indestructible (he'd better be). We ended up organizing it that way because I can manage *my* money, but doing it with someone else raises this whole string of memories of my parents arguing about money late at night, and I freak out, so this is partially my own fault.

I would definitely move anyway, I just would like to do it with, uh, a bit of dignity....

Um... Not quite. There's water in e-cig aerosol. How much depends on the exact composition of a particular ejuice (many manufacturers add water to their ejuices (especially high or 100% VG).

Comparison of select analytes in aerosol from e-cigarettes with smoke from conventional cigarettes and with ambient air - ScienceDirect

"The e-liquids tested were found to contain humectants, glycerin and/or propylene glycol, (⩾75% content); water (<20%); nicotine (approximately 2%); and flavor (<10%)."

"The bulk composition of the delivered aerosol was similar to the bulk composition of the e-liquid."

See also:

Fog machine - Wikipedia

"Typically, fog is created by vaporizing proprietary water and glycol-based or glycerin-based fluids (snip). This fluid (often referred to colloquially as fog juice) vaporizes or atomizes inside the fog machine. Upon exiting the fog machine and mixing with cooler outside air the vapor condenses, resulting in a thick visible fog." ;)

Of course water will be in the vapor but it doesn't come from the ejuice (unless you are vaping a VG/water mix). Where does it come from? It comes from humidity in the air. When you pull air through the airflow slots and across the coil and up through the drip tip the humidity in that air is still going to be present.

This should give some context:

If I remember right what the OP is talking about used to be called "white dust". Water particles collecting on things. Years ago I had that happen rather badly in the house and could not figure out why until quite by accident I noticed that the dryer hose had come disconnected from the outside vent.

That's going to mean some water vapor going into your lungs. I suspect there could be a lot more water in the cloud you exhale. PG and VG attract water, I forget the technical word for it. So you breath in, water gets taken from your lungs, and you exhale it.

Not everyone agrees but that's supposed to lead to dehydration when you vape, and is the reason vapers are advised to drink more water.

I have no idea if that really happens but I've read it many times here.

As for a film on walls, I never noticed that. But I sure notice a film on the windows in my truck. I always assumed it was VG.

Hygroscopic. :) They attract water molecules.

Sure. There's always water vapor going into our lungs--shower, fog, high humidity, nebulizers, humidifiers. Nothing wrong with that. Here's Dr. Polosa's scintific answer to the "water in the lungs" debate:

E-Cig, Water Vapour & The Lungs: Cause for concern?

“This is ridiculous! You would get more water vapour from a home nebulizer designed to deliver COPD medications than you would get from an electronic cigarette.”

“We’ve also examined the effects of regular electronic cigarette usage on people with COPD, and found that respiratory symptoms were never triggered by e-vapour; moreover, in these patients we have shown an overall improvement in both subjective and objective respiratory outcomes after switching from tobacco cigarettes to electronic cigarettes.”

“What’s more, PG in aerosol form is an effective antibacterial and antiviral agent that is likely to prevent infections of the respiratory tract. Ironically, far from creating an ideal condition for germs to multiply and spread, PG vaping could be a practical and safe way to prevent COPD exacerbations.”

Pulmonary edema (alveoli filling with fluids) and pleural effusion ("water on the lungs") are serious lung diseases that have never been in any way associated with vaping--AFAIK. This may change, of course, but nothing has been noted in the past 10 years (since vaping was introduced).

Okay, now that I am an expert at detecting what is on the walls, my recommendation is that the only way to find out for sure what is on the wall is to perform a very detailed and extensive test. That's right you have to taste it. Just stick out your tongue and lick it. If it taste like your e juice, then you will know. C'mon I tasted mine.

You should lick your dog too, you know, just to make sure your vapor isn't getting on his coat. :D
