Hey folks, looking to see if anyone has ever replaced the rda mounting post factory philips screws with grub screws? In my limited time using rda's, I have found that the grub screws offer a more secure connection compared to the philips. Thoughts and feedback would be appreciated. Thank you!

I replace standard screw for grub screws in any RDA or RTA I own. Make sure you don't by the cup point.

I get mine from a source in the UK, they are hard to find stateside. If you have a Fastenal near you they can get them too.

Thank you Marc. Sorry, but being new to RDA's, I'm not familiar with "cup points." Can you elaborate please?

Cup Point refers to the bottom of the screw. It could be pointed or serrated and such.

Thanks r77r7r for the follow up.

I'mnotZak, the flat point is generally easier on the wire and you'll have less of a chance of cutting your wire during the build.

This is what is happening on my Mutation Xs with the Philips head screws during the build. In addition, I find the Philips head very difficult to tighten effectively, and the wire also tends to loosen causing shorts.

I try to swap out all my rdas. I cleaned the fastenal near me out. The only thing I noticed was I had to put them in my ultrasonic / clean them really well. Lots o' tap oil on em.

Thanks for that Retro. I have a UC and will definitely run them through a cycle before installation. I wouldn't have thought to do that.
