Why not just Send it to EVERY Federal House and Senate Member? As well a State Law Makers.

I'm Sick of Counter Punching Everything. I think we need to go on the Offense for a Change. And start Canvasing News Outlets and Policy Makers with some Balanced, Non-Biased Information.

I love the idea, but the problem is that every major source of news outside the internet - newspapers, tv, radio, magazines - is owned and at least partially controlled by someone, and if that someone feels that the story does not serve his best interest, the story either will not run or will be run alongside only a flaming rebuttal. Ever hear of Rupert Murdoch? There's no way that any major news organization will take a real unbiased look at e-cigs aside from a side comment or editorial. There are simply too many financial interests vetted against them.

That is why we keep fighting from the inside out. The truth will win eventually, and we're pushing for sooner rather than later.

This is where you May Not be Correct.

There is One Fundamental Axiom when it comes to the Media. "Don't be the One to Report a Story Last."

Put together a Scientific Analysis of e-Cigarettes, Pack it Full of Study Links, Point out some of the Inequities of the e-Cigarette Market (BT Dominance, Taxes, Politic) with being Tin Foil Hat or Non-Professional, and then Send it to ALL The Media Outlets. Include of course a Cover Letter Explaining that you are Contacting Other Media Outlets.

People will run a Story on it for Fear of Not while their Competitor Does.

It would also be Nice to Solicited a Laundry List of Titled Name to go Alone with it. MD's, Chemists, Economic Advisors, College Professors, Former Surgeon General, etc.

I'm not sure how People want to try and Pursue this Phase of the FDA Regulations? But I know One Thing.

We Are Running Out of Phases.

This one is All or Nothing. And it should be a Multi-Pronged Approach.

BTW - You are Right. The Truth Does Win Out in the End. Given Enough Time. But I would Rather See a little Truth BEFORE the FDA Regs are Finalized. And Not After.

I like that approach :) especially if we had a few knowledgeable people, like Dr. Siegel or Dr. Farsalinos available for interview :) I could see the BBC picking up a story like that for late night news on PBS :)

Late Night PBS?

Aim High. How about Charlie Rose of or the "News Hour"?

I contacted Frontline about a Year ago. Just kinda got a Form Letter saying that they were Also looking for New Stories, and the "Don't Call Us. We'll Call You" type final paragraph.

How about Approaching the Wall Street Journal?

Thanks for the responses so far. I'll spill the beans: my name is Lauren Weber and I work for the Wall Street Journal. Feel free to message me at my work email: lauren.weber@wsj.com.

Bill G. and some of the CASAA Board Members would be Excellent Interview Candidates.

I thought Charlie Rose and the News Hour were on late at night?... man it's been a long time since I've watched tv...

The Wall Street employee may be a good shot, if she can get a decent spot in the journal. I'm sure they'd be interested in the real economic impact of the deeming regs, versus the proposed impact :)

Niche media is a good idea I think, like magazines :) many of them have smaller or more focused overhead. I'd like to see a spot in Scientific American :D

I wish I knew anyone in mainstream media, but unfortunately, as you can see from my location, I'm about as far away from that as I could be  and of course our local news media is about as biased as it gets...

...

Maybe I was hearing the Term "Late Night" to mean some Funky, Underfunded Broadcast. Sorry. You are Right. Charlie Rose does come on Late at Night.

But the News Hour is Prime Time. And Somewhat Approachable. Especially if Someone does Much of the Leg Work of Filtering / Condensing Information into more or a News Slot Format Before they Contact them.

---

I Just think One of the Prongs we should Start in Motion is a Little Media Representation. Even if that is Just Stuffing e-Mail Boxes with e-Cigarette Info/FAQ's Myth vs. Fact Packs.

It's kinda like doing Cold Call Sales. You Don't get a Huge Response. And Maybe Only 1 out of 50 Media Outlets
might Publish something. But if you Send out 51 Packs?

BTW - When I say Media or Newspapers, I don't Want to Exclude Web Based Media Outlets or Magazines. What would be Wrong with contacting people like Scientific American, Nature or something like The Atlantic?

I don't want to exclude them either, but we have a lot of web-based media, and it's still just viewed as "e-cig enthusiast" by the general public. Plus, there is a large proportion of the population that still gets most of their news offline, and many of them won't trust online news. And it's the offline media that's been hammering at us the hardest :( if we could get even a little time there it would make a bigger difference.

Is this getting a little too OT? Should we regroup in another thread (perhaps in the media forum)?

Thank you CASAA for responding to our request for a CTA. I wrote a long letter to Ms. Harris. :D
