Hi, i'm changing my mind from getting the Apollo, Valiant kit. from what I've been reading here at ecf. I found a link to fasttech. OH BOY!

What i'm not sure of is my pairing things together, i'm hoping you guys could take a look at this and let me know if i'm going down the wrong path. oh and a small note i'm forgoing all the VW, VW features on the Valiant. ok here goes.

1 - eGo-T 3200mAh Rechargeable Variable Voltage Battery $12.28
1 - GS eGo II 2200mAh Rechargeable E-Cigarette Battery $7.61
1 - USB Charger for EGO Electronic Cigarette $2.47
1 - Authentic Protank-II Clearomizer w/ Pyrex Glass Tank (2.5mL) $12.12 (the same one that comes with the Valiant)
1 - Authentic Protank Clearomizer Coil Heads (5-Pack) 2.5 Ohm $3.73
or
1 - X10 Protank Atomizer Coil Heads (5-Pack) 2.4 Ohm $4.60

Total $38.21

they sell e-liquid to
1 - Dekang e-liquid for Electronic Cigarettes (50ml) Minty flavor 24 mg/ml $4.76 (hope it's like menthol)

New Total $42.97

In comparison the above gets me 2 Battery's over the 1 1300mAh battery that comes with the Apollo, Valiant Kit at $49.95 less 20% = $39.96 plus a free 10ml bottle of e-liquid.

did i pair the items above correctly, knowing nothing about battery's and clearomizers ?????

Thank you
Jim

One of 2 years ago that would be a good startup.
nowadays i'd look for an istick clone (I think theyre called e-smart); and either a nautilus or subtank mini styled clearo.

but to answer the question yes they are paired up correctly:
just also watch for 'beauty ring'; if the protank doesn't come with one you can order separately. its not a musthave, but it helps your 510 threading / avoids/reduces centerpin problems

I would definitely look for at least a 30w battery, and a Nautilus mini, and a few aspire bvc tanks to try flavors in. If you're new to vaping you're going to want to try a lot of flavors before you find ones you want to smoke everyday; your all day vape.

I recommend splurging on the battery for a few reasons. The biggest one is that you will most likely outgrow an ego type battery fairly quickly and it'll end up collecting dust as a backup that you'll never use. You can get an istick 30 clone for like 20 bucks now, so it's not a ton of money but it will fire a larger more complex tank if you want that, and from my experience most people do move to subtanks and Atlantis' fairly quickly.

I went through a ton of flavors from ecblend and they're so cheap it's hard not to. Out of the 30 or so flavors I tried from them, i ended up with 3 that I really like. Mt baker is another place that sells cheap juice that is good quality. You'll also want to try different nic levels, different vg/pg blends, etc.

Anyways, thats my advice. A better battery will lead to a more steady, consecutive hit, and will last longer, and be able to run better tanks. As you move up in tanks you'll find more vapor more flavor more airflow and everything else that makes vaping great. There are people who do choose to stay with the smaller ego series, but if size is an issue the ego one is a very nice setup and will fire the more complex tasks too. I recommend vapingcheap.com to a lot of people, they have plenty of good deals on there.

I would be wary of items that don't have "Authentic" in the title.
However, I am happy you are doing some research. One of my iSticks is from Fasttech.
Apollo charge $45 (equivalent) in the UK, for a mini Nautilus.
How much are they on Fasttech? $20? Trouble with Aspire at Fasttech is you can't use PayPal.
There is a lot of genuine Kanger (Kangertech) stuff on there, as you have discovered.

What about an iStick? Maybe you should, or get one online at home and order a spare back-up? I often buy from a home country shop and get spares from China. My subtanks came from UK shops, but my stock of coils were slow-shipped via another planetary system. :)

I so wish someone would have steered me to a Nautilus instead of a Protank2. For the same amount of money that I spent on my first setup, I could have been using a Nautilus and an Istick 30. I have to say that it's a solid combo that is really hard to beat. My Protanks IMO were a waste of money compared to the Aspire's that both my wife and I use as daily/work gear. She uses a 30w istick and I use a 50 watt and we have a 30w backup plus the vision spinners we had from a year ago. I use a Subtank Plus on most weekends and some nights and own several rdas that I ordered from Fasttech. They really should consider renaming themselves SlowTech. It takes weeks for orders to arrive. lol

I suggest avoiding fast tech, at least at first, until you're more familiar with what's going on. The prices are enticing but quality is questionable esp on electronics. And def get you're liquid from somewhere you trust, a local shop which is more expensive but you usually can sample in store, or from a company that is part of this community. Low quality equipment is one thing, what goes into your lungs is a different story.

Ok, looked around, saw some reviews, and thank you again for the advice. As far as I can tell, (my eyes are red now) FASTTECH has the best price. and maybe because I'm getting lazy, I'm looking at one of these two full kits there offering that includes the Clearomizers

Eleaf iStick 30W Styled 2200mAh VV VW APV Box Mod w/ Atlantis Styled Clearomizer2-8V / 2-30W / 2ml / 0.5(20-30W)
$29.30 Eleaf iStick 30W Styled 2200mAh VV VW APV Box Mod w/ Atlantis Styled Clearomizer - 2-8V / 2-30W / 2ml / 0.5(20-30W) / silver at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

Eleaf iStick 30W Styled 2200mAh VV VW Box Mod w/ Arctic Styled BTDC Clearomizer3ml / 0.5ohm (dual wires) / 2-8V / 2-30W
$32.41 Eleaf iStick 30W Styled 2200mAh VV VW Box Mod w/ Arctic Styled BTDC Clearomizer - 3ml / 0.5ohm (dual wires) / 2-8V / 2-30W / black at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

it's only about a $6.00 something difference between the cost of a whole kit, and just the battery. so later on I'll just get another full kit.

Eleaf iStick 30W Styled 2200mAh Variable Voltage / Wattage APV Box Mod2-8V / 2-30W / Euro plug adapter / black
$22.72 Eleaf iStick 30W Styled 2200mAh Variable Voltage / Wattage APV Box Mod - 2-8V / 2-30W / Euro plug adapter / black at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

And I think one of these for a spare tank:

Authentic Aspire ET-S BVC Clearomizer3.0ml / 1.8ohm
$6.12 Authentic Aspire ET-S BVC Clearomizer - 3.0ml / 1.8ohm at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

by the way, what is up with all the Rebuild-able Atomizers?

the only thing else that is needed is spare coils, and a lots of small bottles of e-liquids. I'll do more exploring / reading tomorrow. but as this stands now this will still cost less then the Valiant.

Boy am i glad I asked, thank you.

The Atlantis and Arctic tanks are subohm tanks. They use more power and produce a lot of vapor. The bvc is like the polar opposite of an Atlantis. The nautilus is in between an Atlantis and bvc.

Rebuildables, you wrap your own coil and put your own cotton in, no need to buy premade coils. I would start with something premade and if you want to practice building your own there are plenty of options. I went to rebuilding pretty quick and can't be happier.

Both the Arctic and Atlantis are solid tanks, but they do produce a ton of vapor. When you get into that amount of vapor you're probably going to want between 3 and 6mg nic juice.

Hi, still reading, been looking at Mod units and reading reviews starting with the 30w istick. That looks great, how long do these units last. why i ask is because in one of the review it was assumed that they may break after a short time of use, how long have you guys been using them?

Does anyone use a Mod that uses replaceable battery's? so if the battery goes bad, you only have to replace the battery.

Why, is because I'm the great experiment in our house, both me and my wife are two 60 year old smokers, both of us had started smoking in our teens, and we know we need to stop, and soon. Also neither one of us has ever tried any form of cig-like/e-cig. So perhaps we're approaching this way to much like buying a car, I've even done cost study's. So I'm trying to get something that will only need to be tweaked to last me/us a year with no surprises.

using the 30w istick as a bench mark, anyone using the following, (unless the 30w istick, is just as reliable)

Cloupor Mini 30w VW, (I'm assuming the bursting into flames thing has been worked out), it looks good to me

Sigelei Mini 30w VW, (ugly, and pricey)

Smowell dpv-50w VW, (looks very good to me, simple, and clean)

DOVPO Mini 50w VW

As for the Clearomizer, I'm hoping to find a nautilus clone!

is this info OK, i could add links for above if you'd like.

The istick 30s are pretty good for the money. My friend got the smok m65 for 35 bucks or so, but I don't like the interface, it's hard to turn off. The ipv mini 2 has a much better interface with programable memory presets for wattage settings, which is really nice. I paid 50 for it, and another 10 on 2 samsung 25r batteries, plus it came with a battery. I bought 2 cause it was only 2 dollars more for another one. It lasts a day on a charge.

It depends on how much you want to spend. I think for the money the istick is available everywhere and very affordable. If you hunt for a deal, you can get better for not much more.

For longevity, a removable battery mod allows you to change the battery when it wears out. The istick and others with internal batteries are more like throw away devices. The istick is probably the lowest quality mod in the bunch. I prefer the ipv for the spring positive pin, allowing it to work with any tank without adjustments, the simple menu system, and its very comfortable to hold and small enough to pocket. Plus battery removal is simple. My friends smok requires 4 tiny screws to be removed, others have 1 or 2 as well. The ipv is just a big battery cap at the bottom.

It seems the general consensus here is the iStick 30w. I'll be honest if you're going for that much power/form factor, I would consider a Cloupor Mini 30w. Yes, it is slightly larger than the iStick (I stress slightly) however you have a replaceable battery which means a. when your battery eventually loses its charge, you don't have to throw away the entire unit but only the battery itself and b. you can use higher capacity batteries which hold more than the iStick 30's 2200mah.

Just my $0.02.
